Heart of the Country is our home and also your own personal twelve acre state park whenever you stay with us! We are less than 15 minutes from Interstate 10 and from Interstate 65. I offer a half-dozen campsites, all either on a relatively level paved driveway or grass. Power (20 amp and 30 amp) and water is available. We have two 30 amp campsites, which are first come, first served. WIFI is available! (please ask for password). We have a portable toilet for your use. This is a Longleaf Pine sanctuary with lots of nature trails. This is also a hobby farm with livestock (Donkey, two Goats, a Duck and a flock of Chickens). I feed the livestock grain every morning usually between 8 and 9 am, and again hay before dusk. You are always welcome to join me and I'll introduce all of them to you! My dog, Homer, is our very friendly welcoming ambassador who will enthusiastically great you upon your arrival. I put him up in his kennel each evening around dusk, then lock him in his shed until morning which keeps him from backing during the night. We also host an AirBnB, so other guests may be here as well. Texting via the app is our preferred mode of communication. If you call, please leave a message if I can't answer, and I will call you back. We are slowly updating the site photos. Use them only to determine your price, for example: A site with 30 amp power and water is $25 per night. A site with 20 amp power and water is $20 per night. A boondocking site (no power) is $15 per night. All sites have access to a porta-potty and water. Suggested local attraction: Blakeley State Historic Park is four miles away.

Great Escape! Amazing Sunsets!

Dave is the perfect host and has a beautiful location. Sunsets are amazing every day. Easy pull through location and easy to hook up on flat ground. Dollar General is a mile away and it’s about a 15 minute trip to Walmart, grocery and fast food. I highly recommend Heart of the Country for anyone wanting a peaceful get away.

Wholesome Camping on Small Farm

We tent camped for 3 weeks in November and Dave was extremely accommodating for our 3 week stay in November. Don't skip the hot tub! For van lifer types this is an ideal location. Good cell reception and a quiet atmosphere. There were extremely few insects and the sunset over Mobile each night is a brilliant orange. We used the YMCA Express in Spanish Fort for showers, gym, infrared sauna, and as a coffeeshop. it has a table area with outlets for laptops. The day pass there is $10.

Very nice, quiet spot for the night. Paved driveway with steep hill at entrance. Concrete pad on circular driveway. Slightly unlevel. Host was very nice and responsive.

Wonderful site to stretch out a bit. On the hill looking out over the valley of pines was beautiful! Host was great to communicate with and the picnic table was perfect!

The directions were clear, and Dave met us in the driveway. We sat next to our van and enjoyed the sunset through the trees. The trails around the property are very nice. We would stay here again

Dave's land was a welcome overnight stop on a multi-day road trip. It's obvious that he has been putting in some work to make it so welcoming to campers. Amazingly, there wasn't any of the typical noise you might expect to hear from the "livestock", I had a very peaceful and restful night. I would highly recommend to anyone camping in the area.

Dave was very forthcoming and kind. I really appreciated his consistent and early communication. The land/forest surrounding was gorgeous. Was sad that we only got to stay for the night and had to leave so early! Would be a fun place to bring kids.

I could not be more happy. I contacted thru the app and was replied to very fast! Directions were great! And he met me at the gate. As a single 61 year old female (with my dog) I felt safe and secure. The camp was clean and was informed on all the amenities. Any questions Dave was a quick answer away. Definitely recommend.

dave's heart of the country was a really good experience all around. before i even arrived he was working to help me find just the right place to park on his lovely 12 acre property. then when i did arrive, it was better than the pictures. .. the smell of the long leaf pines, & the peace that came from being in the woods, i haven't slept so well in a long time. to top it off dave was a gracious host. thank you.

My best friend and I stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed it so much that we booked two more nights! The Porto potty was cleaner than most. Dave offered a well maintained hot tub area as well.

The overall experience was amazing. The tent site was great — plenty of tall trees for shade and a peaceful atmosphere. Dave was super nice and welcoming. He met us when we arrived, showed us where to set up and where to find water, then gave us space to enjoy the land.

Dave is an excellent host and I would highly recommend his place. It's a pleasant country drive to his place it's not that far from the interstate and close to all the attractions in the area. I was born and raised in Louisiana and go back several times a year and on my trips I plan on staying here to break up the monotony. The last time I stayed I even stayed a second day just because of the nice peace and quiet.

Easy Peasy RV pull through. Dave (host) very accommodating and pleasant. Easy instructions to get there. Homer, the mocha lab was also welcoming! Fun farm animals - donkeys, goats, roosters and hens. Surrounded by pine forest on a hilltop. Close to nice site seeing - Blakely State Park had a lovely boardwalk by the Tensaw River, Fairhope was filled with boutique shopping, antiques, books and more. Lots of grocery options nearby.

Dave's property felt safe and comfortable It was the very first place my 3 year old daughter ever camped and she was so happy to see the all the animals but especially the pup! Thank you Dave for letting us camp here

Fantastic place to stay. Homer was a real treat to hang out with. He stayed at my campsite all night! My spot was nice and fairly secluded. This was a great experience for my first time camping in Alabama. I’d definitely come back and bring friends
