n*Everland Barnyard is an eccentric art installation space created from found, recycled, and re-purposed building materials in the heart of Grant Wood Country in Jones County, Iowa. Gothic and rustic, the space provides multiple camp sites for easy access to bike trails through town and into the Wapsipinicon State Park across the river from the property. Kayak the Wapsi (we recommend a Matsell Bridge put in with a stop at the historic General Store in Stone City) and end only a mile away from your campsite at the Barnyard in Anamosa at the dam takeout. Visit the State Penitentiary Museum, hang out with the Barnyard chickens, hike our wooded trails, or simply unwind. This place is a magical retreat unlike anywhere else in the world. If you are seeking to disconnect from the world, find presence and live in the Now, this is the place for you.
There is a beautiful spring fed water hole ideal for swimming in the state park, as well as access to the river from our property (although we do not recommend swimming in the river due to pollutants.) Watching the sunset at the river is one of our absolutely favorite ways to end the day.
As of 2021, we have a newly constructed wood-fired pizza oven. Inquire upon booking about availability and pricing. You will not be disappointed, roasting any food and baking pizza in the outdoor oven is absolutely amazing!

This is a fantastic place to stay if you're interested in an eclectic art style with lots to explore. The hosts are super welcoming and they have plenty of great camping spots. They also have chickens, 2 cats, and a dog so it's excellent if you like animals.

This place was magical, and even more so, Bob and Xene are magical humans. If you love eclectic creativity and are up for exploration, this is a spot that will absolutely deliver. I camped in my car but could have also set up a tent in this beautiful quiet space. Definitely opt for a tour if they offer you one, and say yes to whatever other hospitality they offer, too. This is one place where I can heartily recommend going with the flow and trusting that magic will happen.

Great place to camp! The hosts are amazing. They gave us a cool tour down to the river! It’s far enough from town to feel private and disconnected yet close enough to go grab anything you forgot at the store! Very relaxing! Can’t wait to go back.

Your group was one of the highlights of the summer. Looking forward to hosting you all again!
What an incredible place!
I needed to get away for a weekend and this was a great spot with lots of privacy but yet my interactions with Xene and Bob were so pleasent and they really make you feel at home. It was last minute and they were so quick to respond. I car camped and hung my hammock.
Tip: watch your pup, mine got a fancy hair cut when we got home as he had a lot of tiny burrs because he had to explore the bushes :)
I can't wait to go back, I know you'll enjoy it too!

It was an absolute joy to have you stay here Karen and very much look forward to that promised return visit!
We are new to this method of 'camping". As many hipcamp sites are small and tucked out of the way, we will review directions via satellite photo in the future. Using given directions, we took a wrong turn ( arrived after dark) at the last minute. Directions need to be clarified or entrance flagged. We barely interacted with Xene, but she is responsive and kind. Promised firewood needs shelter so it is dry and usable. Setting is pleasant.

Glad we came upon you at the moment of your wrong turn and got you immediately turned around and in your site without any trouble. It was lovely to have you stay here and hope you visit again on your way across this big country!
There are not words to describe how magical my experience camping here was. I'm fairly certain that Xene and Bob are literally the most kind, talented and laid back people on the planet. When arriving I knew this was a special place... They're both so graciously share their beautiful property, art and vibes... I swear even the water is magical!!! Please take the time to stay here I promise you will fall in love. Who knew Iowa was so Rad!

Equally great to have met you Bruce. Thanks so much for this awesome review. Looking forward to your return visit. Not all of Iowa might be as rad as this place, but we are hoping to change that!
This was my first Hipcamp stay, and I chose it for the handy location to stop for the night. But, it's really a fun location with lots of space, nice amenities, and Xene and Bob are great. I've already been talking up this place to friends, and will keep it in mind for a future destination (not just a stopover).

Thanks Alice! We had a great time checking out your awesome camper setup and very much look forward to your return visit! Follow our website page for event listings and come some evening when we are having music or a small festival. We hope to see you again soon!
