A large well shaded flat site perfect for small or large groups. Room for multiple tents. Cozy fire ring area, plenty of well spaced trees for hammocks. Plenty of room for a dining fly. Furnished with comfortable chairs, fire ring, picnic tables and side tables, trash and recycling containers, this is our most popular site for families, family reunions, weekend retreats; yoga, drum circle, women, wildness/adventure, or? Weddings and receptions have been held here. A bundle of dry firewood, starters, and a lighter are provided. More firewood is available for purchase, $6 per bundle (Cash, check, Venmo or cash app) Just message to order before 8 PM during your stay, or additional wood can be added to your reservation. This is a Pack in Pack Out tent/hammock site and is not accessible by your vehicle. We do offer a service to bring your items to your site. You must notify us 30 minutes prior to arriving/leaving. Certain times this service is unavailable due to prior commitments. Just 20 miles from Starved Rock Maple, Beech, Ash and Oak trees surround this primitive site. A private spot for your small group to hang hammocks in the trees or level ground to pitch your tent. At the bluff atop Bramble Creek for you to have enjoy and relax. Owls and wild birds are plentiful. Frogs sing and wildlife scampers about. Plenty of seasonal wildflowers. On site hiking on the path adjacent to this site and plenty of nearby trails at the state and local parks. A Campfire ring and dry firewood is provided. You will feel the wonderful Illinois wilderness all around. Peace, quiet and relaxation. There is a spool table for cooking and a picnic table for dining and two chairs to relax in. This is a HIKE IN ONLY remote Primitive site - there is no road access and it is appx .3 miles from the parking area This is one of our most remote sites with no vehicle access. The magical woods awaits you just behind our show horse farm. Tranquil. Peaceful. Beautiful. A world away is within reach. Great camping with neat animals

My son and I had a wonderful time camping here. The host Heidi was very friendly and responsive. The camp grounds are on the backside of the property which functions as a horse farm where Heidi holds riding therapy. It was so much fun to see all the horses, and my son even got a riding lesson which he’d never done before. Heidi was so gracious in explaining how her farm works, and also sharing with us the background of all her animals. Many are rescues that she has given a loving and safe environment. We loved seeing the goat being followed around by a couple sheep everywhere, plus chickens where I got some fresh eggs for breakfast. A very friendly dog name Tiller will definitely show up at your campsite for some head scratches throughout your stay. Though there’s no fishing on site, the Illinois river is five minutes away and Heidi shared recommended fishing spots. I’ve never stayed at a place where you can’t drive up to your site, but they had a good system for transporting your gear, and it was super easy with no waiting. There’s maybe 5-6 camping sites on the trails in the woods. They all are pretty private compared to other places I’ve camped. It was nice to have a picnic table, another table, and a couple Adirondack chairs waiting for us. They also had fire starters a couple other helpful things. They delivered firewood to the site in their small tractor very quickly for the same price you’d get elsewhere. 10/10 would recommend

Beautiful farm/property with amazing hosts (Including Tiller!) We made a last minute booking and they were very accommodating even on short notice and made our stay super enjoyable! They helped us bring stuff to our campsite and back to the car in the morning. We will happily camp here again!

Absolutely lovely spot in the woods on a horse farm! Friendly owners & family, and TILLER the dog! Camp sites are far enough away from each other for some nice privacy. The owners were very accommodating to switch sites for the best spot for our truck bed camping rig. My hubby, doggo, and I had a wonderful time! Highly recommend.

Nice place with plenty of campsites! The host was very friendly and even sent a helper with a tractor to carry our gear from the car to the campsite. Would definitely recommend this site to anyone camping in the area. There are horses and chickens are the property too!

We love Tiller!

We had a wonderful time at Heidi's land! She and her family were so helpful the entire time we were there. Her dog, Tiller, was easily the highlight of this trip for us - he hung out with us at our site most of the time we were there and we loved every minute of it. He is one of the most loving, well-behaved dogs ever! The property is beautiful, and the horses and chickens were fun to watch! We also loved how close a grocery store (D&S Foods) was to get ice and other things. We had a lot of privacy because there weren't many other campers there, but if it is more busy (for example, both spots by the pond are occupied), you will likely see/hear the other campers a decent amount. Due to the lack of rain, the sites are very dusty - it's like a very fine powder, and it gets on everything. Just something to keep in mind if that bothers you or if you want to prepare for it (bring a broom, handheld vacuum, or leaf blower to clean things off a bit before packing up to go home). Also, if you have a collapsible wagon/cart, it may be worth bringing it to help speed up the process of taking your gear to your site! Overall, Heidi's property is a great spot not too far from the city. We hope to return at some point and see Tiller again :)

I lovely private campground! My partner and I really enjoyed our stay here. It was quiet, rustic enough, and had everything we needed. Pros: plenty of firewood, fire supplies, a picnic table, makeshift table, chairs, ample room to spread out, not busy, a ravine to hike into, and someone to help pack you in. Horses, dogs, and some other farm animals! Cons: portapotty is a bit of a walk, not drive up, not a ton of hiking from site. Overall, I’d stay here again in a heartbeat!

The campsite was clean and everything was ready for our arrival. We were pleasantly surprised by the things Heidi had prepared for us! Tables, chairs, campfire equipment etc. We were over prepared this time. The campsites are located in the woods near their farmland where we left our car, but Heidi and her family were very helpful with the transportation of our equipment to the campsite. My husband and I had a wonderful and peaceful time away from the big city (We’re from Chicago). The campsites are close to each other, but the trees around each campsite provide you the privacy you need. One minus was the port a potty. We can’t agree that it is clean daily. Overall, we had a wonderful time and recommend it fully!

While the camp sites are nicely spaced apart in a lovely woods with winding paths, they are accessed by a path into the woods that for about 50' is excessively littered with broken glass (it shimmers in sunlight). One has to navigate this path to use the toilet. We were a bit horrified to have to walk our pup through the path, fortunately with no injury. We would not recommend the shower add on. Heidi was very gracious to refund us for the none working shower.

Heidi is a wonderful person and was very accommodating during our stay. The parking area is about a 5 minute walk from the campsites but Heidi has a small tractor that she can use to carry any gear you have with you. The campsite was clean, quiet, and spacious enough to accommodate our large tent. One of her pups (Tiller) was very friendly and hung out at our campsite until it was time for him to go back home. The property is a 25 minute drive from Ottawa, so it’s in close proximity to hiking/river activities. We enjoyed our stay here!

Overall we had a good little getaway but it wasn’t as private as we expected as we could see other camp sites and it was right on the main trail. We got turned around so many times because there were no signs leading us back out to the parking area or to just use the porta-potty so I would recommend putting signs up for sure. Still thank you for a new experience it’s definitely better than a a usual campsite that’s wide open.

This was a great place with a great vibe to camp with the kids. Heidi was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the kids loved playing with her animals. From the time we arrived until left, she continuously went above and beyond. The site itself was wooded and private, with plenty of space. I would definitely recommend camping here.

Heidi was an amazing hostess. She greeted us upon arrival, and helped get all of our belongings to the campsite. As we arrived to our area all of the amenities we paid for were there. My family and I had such a good time on our 3 day stay. I highly recommend camping here.
