Please note, this is HARSTINE ISLAND, NOT HERRON. I haven't gotten Hipcamp to fix this yet. There is a bridge to the island and the coordinates offered for site are correct. The map says beach shore Rd but the physical sign says Klondike. Very clean commercially maintained outhouse now available! Beautiful peaceful forest with trails, a great spot for elopements (elopement package separate) and a beautiful meadow with a small ringed fire pit for one site and a movable fire pit for another.. 2 meadow sites in 5 acres, a forested tent sight coming. 70% of the Island is forestry but sound DOES carry a long way so it's not dead-quiet. Harstine Island has a BRIDGE, no ferry! One hammock is left up in the forest and there are places for your hammocks to be hung, as well. There is one spot on drive that is between two trees so you need to go slowly and be careful, 9 foot wide at wheel base only. Please take note of this. Easy for cars, a bit tricky for some trailer/RVs. Photo and video can be seen on webpage. Types of wildlife include barred owls, a nighthawk usually in summer can be seen at dusk, western alligator lizards, warblers, robins, crows, wrens, a bear has visited before (lucky me heard it 'woof' at me, bear didn't appreciate my singing), deer, others have seen red fox in the past but we have not been so lucky. Birder's paradise. One lovely review calls it a great place for forest bathing! Puget sound is SO clean here with a diverse salt water life. Orca and Humpback have been spotted nearby. You can track them at Orca Network or Puget Sound Whale Sightings on Facebook. Frequently people have seen orca making rounds with the incoming tide going under the bridge and circling the island! There is Jarrell Cove state park and a boat ramp at Latimer's Landing Boat Launch few miles way. There is a great local market at the community center Saturdays from 10-12 in the summer. No water view, this is heavy forest off a gravel drive into privacy. No power, no water, pack it in pack it out. Please be careful of deer when you are driving in and observe island speed limits. Familiarize yourself with the personal fire extinguisher at the site.

Small new tent sites bathed in the older forest's dappled light, only deer trails here! There are branches to walk over, ground isn't perfectly leveled, in fact you're free to make a better spot so long as no trees are harmed! Porta Potty kept clean in meadow. Price reflects more wild sites. No fires at any time due to proximity of flammable forest material. If you want to take home a few ferns, let me know! Parking for smaller compact car on edge of drive, you can camp as close as appx 20' away, larger vehicle will have to park farther away.

Grassy area with round drive access, there is a tent site you can use inside the tree canopy also. Hammock trees nearby. Wonderful view of stars overhead, turnaround the tree to park in site, can disperse any part of upper half of meadow or inside trees as desired. Only tent camping inside trees.

Nested along a tree line, plenty of room to turn a large RV or boat trailer. Great roads to bike and hiking nearby., some gravel under grass, good back-in area for RV if desired for more sheltered spot.

Site 2 - Owl Glade lower meadow
We loved skoolie camping at Owl Glade with our family, friends and dogs. The site is a large open meadow surrounded by very tall evergreen trees. Plenty of room for our skoolie and two tents. A clean portapotty was provided as well as a portable fire pit, a table, and firewood. The trails through the forests were a welcome contrast to the open fields.

We LOVED our wild flower clearing campsite! So remote but still accessible to a Kayaking day trip and a lovely local island farmers market. The port-a-potty was a lovely addition and we had plenty of space to make it our own. It was just the two of us but we will be back with a crew of people because there is plenty of room. Thanks GK!

"We had a fantastic, highly private, and peaceful stay here with our family of 6 plus our dog, Appa. The spot was completely to ourselves, giving us the perfect quiet retreat to play games, cook, and enjoy our meals. The campsite had more than enough space to comfortably fit our two tents and a canopy. The host was helpful and provided a clean port-a-potty. Highly recommend if you are looking for a secluded family getaway!"

Site 2 - Owl Glade lower meadow
I really enjoyed camping in the lovely meadow of Owl Glade. It was really peaceful and private, we saw a lot of wildlife in the short amount of time we were there! Harstine Island is really cute too with a lot of lovely flat hikes, a Saturday market, and views at the state parks. GK was a great host- helpful and communicative. We were set up for success when we arrived. I would stay again and recommend to anyone.

We had the entire meadow (both campsites) to ourselves and loved it! There were lots of birds around, and a deer came and grazed right by our van for a solid 20 minutes - you are definitely surrounded by nature here! 👍We also enjoyed walking the forest trail surrounding the site. This is a great location in nature that is close to other areas to explore like Harstine Island State Park and Jarrell Cove State Park as well. Would come back!

Owl Glade was a lovely meadow tucked away inside of and surrounded by bird-filled woods. The island overall was fun to explore, and I’d definitely recommend checking out Jarrell Cove while you’re there. Overall, exactly as shown in the pictures in the best way!

This site has lots of space to yourself and is on a great island that has so much to explore! We checked out the Jerrell state park for a day trip, there was good beach and a nice dock to jump off of. The owner gave good insight to the island and had clear instructions on how to get to site. Very much worth the visit and will hopefully be returning soon.

Owl Glade
Almost don’t want to say how much we loved GK’s property because we want to make sure it’s available next time! Beautiful meadow for camping with a gorgeous perfect short PacNW trail for forest-bathing. Really thoughtful and unexpected amenities, such as a solar lamp, bubbles, and citronella incense to keep mosquitoes at bay. The lovely neighbor next door offered a rainbow of eggs from her chickens. GK was extremely welcoming and responsive to all our needs - really grateful for the support and excellent communication. This property technically holds two camp sites, and it might have been uncomfortable or at least less intimate if the other site had been booked, but fortunately for us it hadn’t been. We were fine with no toilets or water, but you can get water from the Jarrell Cove state park. We spent our days at Fudge Point, which has three parking areas with short, half-mile or less hikes through beautiful ferny forest to get to each parking area before you get to the beach (1.5 miles if you park at the first parking area). A magical stay and we will be back!

Owl Glade
This is a peaceful location, a bit of a drive, but with the directions from the host, easy to find. He gave me the address of a neighbor and that got me very close. There are at least two places to camp and positioning is pretty easy. The host provides a fire pit and toilet and at least one picnic table, might have another in the future. I enjoyed my time there very much.

We loved the place. For the most part it’s very quiet and private. There is a house or two simi close but really don’t hear anyone there. We very much enjoyed are stay.
