The best camping near Blanket Creek Provincial Park guide

Overview

About

Embark on an adventure at Blanket Creek Provincial Park, where the wilderness beckons with a warm swimming lagoon, historic trails, and scenic Sutherland Falls. Campers can revel in the park's diverse offerings, from vehicle-accessible sites nestled amid white pine forests to group camping by the Columbia River. Whether you're pitching a tent or parking an RV, the park's natural splendour provides the perfect backdrop for a memorable outdoor experience.

Notable campgrounds

  • Blanket Creek sites 1-105: Nestled near the Arrow Lake reservoir, these vehicle-accessible sites offer a mix of sunny and shaded spots amid a forested setting.
  • Blanket Creek groupsites: Ideal for larger gatherings, these group sites are conveniently located next to the day-use area and offer easy access to the Columbia River.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early through the BC Parks reservation system to secure your preferred campsite, especially during peak season.
  • Keep an eye on cancellation policies and dates; sometimes last-minute spots open up.
  • Consider visiting during shoulder seasons for better availability and a quieter camping experience.
  • Explore nearby camping options if Blanket Creek is fully booked; the surrounding area offers additional recreational opportunities.

When to go

The prime time to visit Blanket Creek Provincial Park is between May 10 and September 30, when the park is fully operational. Outside of these dates, services are limited, and the gate is closed during the off-season. The warm summer months are ideal for swimming and hiking, while the fall offers a chance to see the local wildlife, including bears.

Know before you go

  • Check for any advisories before your visit as park status and operating dates can change without notice.
  • Bear safety is crucial; keep camps clean and pets leashed to avoid attracting wildlife.
  • Accessibility information is available for those with mobility challenges.
  • Remember, there are no lifeguards on duty at the swimming lagoon; always supervise children and swim with caution.
  • Firewood is available for purchase in the park, but campfires may be banned during high-risk wildfire conditions.
