Our property is fenced in full of wild life and horses located 10 minutes from the Tennessee river and shop battle fields rich with history. Lots of activists just minutes away, including kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, and boating the Tennessee River. Plus the Shiloh Battle Fields to explore and great BBQ restaurants.

Camp Carroll 

Proposed Carroll County Recreational Opportunity
   I would like to introduce the citizens of Carroll County and all interested parties to a proposed startup tent only campground on 72 acres adjacent to Mustang Cove at the new lake. I propose to offer a rustic or primitive tent camping experience and hope to enjoin the collaboration of the Caroll County 1,000 Acre Recreational Lake to provide kayak and canoe access to the adjacent shallow and shady shoreline. I solicit input and interest from local churches, scouts, 4H,  and others and request your assistance and support. The Camp Carroll project is intended to provide a low impact environmentally and family friendly outdoor recreation experience for local residents and other interested parties; this includes but is not limited to the following: day use (CC Lake and general site), overnight tent and future small TT camping, canoe and kayak on 13 acres site ponds and CC Lake.  The Project will allow local users the opportunity to camp/kayak (or learn) locally with convenient access to home or town markets. Churches, Boy/Girl Scouts, 4H and other users will have an additional local nature - based outdoor recreational opportunity available. Local is also extremely important convenience for the handicapped or other limited access populations. 
    I will be happy to share updates, phoroscope and additional jnformation.Learn more about this land:62 acres south of Mustang cove mostly cleared. with 3 and 10 acre ponds. 12 acres north of cove partially cleared with mixed hardwood and pine woodlands. Habitat to deer, turkey, quail, beaver, otter, etc. I spent 2016 attending monthly planning and zoning commission meetings as they developed tent only campground regulations requiring 6 inches of gravel base with 2 inches of asphalt to every campsite and a restroom within 150 feet of every campsite. Needless to say, this regulation is not only cost prohibitive but in my opinion, also promulgates unsustainable erosion and habitat degradation. Plan B envisions development as a daycamp operation with picnic pavillions, bbq pits, volleyball, horseshoes, frisbee golf, etc with canoe, kayak and peddle boat access to ponds and the shallow end of the 1,000 acre lake. Plan C would be just build a multipurpose residence shareable with family and friends. Pland D involves the services of a good realtor. Calico Junction Ranch

Located in the hills and high forests of Hohenwald, Tennessee, Calico Junction Ranch is a large, multi-faceted operation with over forty head of horses, breeding kennels for Long-Coat German Shepherds, and a
modest Heritage Breed Hog farming operation.
 Occupied by Native Americans as early as 10,000 BC, the Chickasaw Indians hunted our hills in the 1500's, and the ranch property is located along the Cherokee
"Trail of Tears." The ranch
was
later home to a miner named "Grizzly Jack"... You can visit his cabin
during your stay.
 More recently, Calico Junction hosted benefits for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, and
we regularly
host dinner trail rides on weekends. Calico Junction New Beginnings Ranch is
our
non-profit 501(c)3 providing
Equine Assisted Therapy
and a horse rescue.
Because Calico Junction has so much to offer, we have joined Hipcamp in order to give
everyone the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful and relaxing ranch home.

Pitch your tent in a beautiful meadow not far from a pasture with horses. Choose a site close to the main ranch or as remote as you prefer. We are a family-oriented operation where children are welcome. Explore the ranch on foot or arrange for a horseback ride or two. Bring your binoculars and get up early to catch the Great Blue Herons feeding near the bridge. You'll probably disturb them, but if you're quick, you may capture a picture of the Heron's graceful flight. Go wading, collect rocks or hunt for arrowheads in Rockhouse Creek--you are almost certain to find them, the best free souvenirs! Take nature walks to see our abundant wildlife: deer, wild turkeys, foxes, rabbits and squirrels, because they play here too! Tour the kennels and walk or brush the dogs upon request. Tell stories or play your guitar as you enjoy a relaxing evening campfire. Then listen to the Whippoorwills as they serenade you to sleep.

You must arrive 1 hour prior to sunset.

We have two, two room tents set up for those without one. And spots available to pitch your own tent. Also there is plenty of room  to park an Rv or camper you are welcome to go in the woods as far as you can drive and set up where you like. there is a  canoe rental place just a few miles down the road. Located just north of Jackson Tennessee, between Memphis and Nashville we found this little piece of heaven to share. Come experience rustic camping amongst the Pines and Cedars of our 28 acre forest. Hike the trails with plenty of wildlife and beautiful rolling hills of many native trees. Just 8 miles north of us you will find the beautiful Carroll County 1000 Acre Lake featuring swimming, boating and fishing. Just 14 miles east of us is the Parker's Crossroads Civil War Battle site and park. Plenty to see and do. Come check us out.
