Hop a plane with your carry-on full of camping gear and take advantage of Puerto Rico’s year-round mild temperature and diverse ecosystems. Upon arrival on the tropical island, stop at a roadside stall or “kiosko” to pick up food and other necessities, and head toward one of Puerto Rico’s remote beaches for a coastal camping adventure. On the world-famous Flamenco Beach of Culebra Island, you can pitch your tent a few feet away from the shoreline. For a completely different experience, check out Rio Camuy Cave Park. Exploring the extensive cave system makes for a great day trip. A short drive from the capital of San Juan is the El Yunque National Forest, a tropical rainforest where there are seven designated campgrounds. Each offer a unique, Caribbean camping experience. Just make sure to request a free camping permit before you go.

This property was once a religious shrine. It was purchased by an American Rock Star as a pet sanctuary. Once we bought this place we though it was appropriate to call it, “The Sanctuary.” We use a portion of the income at this property to help our nieces/nephew's with their schooling and college.

Casa Tropica 3 units

We are an eco-conscious household, which means we like to minimize the use of single-use disposables. Instead, the house comes equipped with hand towels, dish towels, cloth napkins &and a gravity-fed water filter to skip the bottled water. We prioritize using natural cleaners, detergents, and soaps that are environmentally + skin-friendly. We do have neighbors with children so the vibe of Casa Trópica is intended for the chilled-out visitor to preserve the Tranquillo vibe of the valley and show respect to our awesome neighbors. Guest access Front house shared outdoor kitchen and porch + grassy lawn up to the Casita. Other things to note 🌴 Disclaimer 🌊 Is this place a good fit for me? In a nutshell: This is a soulful, lived-in guesthouse in a real Puerto Rican neighborhood, just 1 mile from town and beaches. It’s affordable, full of character, and best for travelers who value authenticity and simplicity over hotel-style perfection. 🏡 About This Space This is not a hotel or boutique hotel — it’s my personal home and guesthouse, created with care to offer budget-friendly, outdoor living accommodation in a real Puerto Rican neighborhood. There are three units on the property: • The Casita, located in the back and completely private sleeps 3 • The Loft and Escape Pod, which share an outdoor kitchen and patio Escape pod sleeps 2 The loft has a queen and full size pullout I live on-site for about six months of the year and work in the States the other half to keep this Puerto Rico dream alive. I’ve built this space slowly, with creativity and love — and I’m happy to share it with those who appreciate its energy. 🌿 A Few Quick Notes We provide a clean, comfortable, and affordable stay — but don’t offer upscale hotel amenities like single-use plastic shampoos or conditioners. Instead, we provide an all-natural Castile soap in hand pumps that can be used for the whole body. Also, roosters are part of daily life in Puerto Rican neighborhoods. You may hear them at unexpected hours — it’s part of the local soundscape. There are no roosters next door, but a neighbor up the hill has a few.
