A Promise to Gaia/Garden Of One

Our focus and purpose on this land is to provide stewardship and sanctuary for the Natural world to maintain it’s own balance with minimal interference from humans.

To remain wild and free.

We are a plant, wildlife and butterfly sanctuary.

We rent the lodgings (Chalet, Cabin & Glampsite)
to support and fund the maintenance and expansion of native and pollinating species of plants, expanding the area that we steward, providing habitat and refuge for animals, insects, birds and more.

We wish to share our sacred land with people that love and respect the Earth, who wish to contribute to a conservation project through their own presence and mindfulness.

Once a RV camping park called "Thunder Hill Campground" in the late 1960's early 1970's, the land sat mostly unused for 15 years before Rachel came to steward it 20 years ago.

We are 107 acres of forest, a 9
acre lake, ponds, creeks, labyrinth, a Holistic Retreat Center & Organic Permaculture Farm at a
2000 foot elevation in the Heldeberg Mountains.

500 million years ago during the Devonian Period this was a sea, so we live in shale based mountains with lots of fossils! The Heldebergs are one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth, these mountains have been worn down to 2000 feet over time.

Native Americans lived in the area many years ago and we are quite sure this was Native American sacred ceremony land.

Hiking, canoeing, swimming and fishing (catch & release only) are available on site.
 There are many places to hike in the area, an Eagle Trail
and in winter, 2 miles away, is a Nature Preserve that rents snowshoes and has
trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing,

Very rural and private, even though we are only 25 miles SW of Albany, NY the capital of NYS, here it is quiet and peaceful.

We do have 3 very friendly dogs that will want to be your best friends. Also farm animals that you can meet.

There will be farm noises, roosters greeting the morning and various grunts and snorts... far less noise than any modern city.

Albany, along with the surrounding areas, have many events etc going on. There's hiking, biking, nature parks, horse racing, concerts, festivals and events and so much more. Links and information can be provided to campers that stay with us that are looking for entertainment & excursions.

We are near Albany, Berne, Catskill, Cairo, Cobleskill, East Durham, Greenville, Hunter, Knox, Medusa, Oak Hill, Middleburgh, Schoharie, Westerlo, Windham.

EarthSong

Beautiful secluded 29-acre property in rural New York.  This land had once been part of a large farm for a few hundred years and was subdivided in the early 1990..  Field by field it was let "go wild" and the forests and old fields are rich in stages of succession and biological diversity.   There are miles of maintained trails...and even more if you want to go on trails made by deer and rabbits.Learn more about this land:Put up a tent or sleep under the stars in an clearing in an old meadow, surrounded by forest.  Several trails lead to other places on the land.   Campsite is about a 4-5 minute walk from parking area.  Wagon available to haul your stuff back and forth.

Rockclimbers Paradise

This scenic land in  the historic Mohawk Valley was once home to the Dolgeville Branch Railroad which ran from Little Falls to Dolgeville and was a light-gauge rail line which ran its last ride in the 1960's and is also home to the only lake in the City of Little Falls, Green Lake which abounds with bullhead, small rockbass, turtles and wild fowl of all kinds.Learn more about this land:Camping with a mile-long nature trail that follows the course of the old Dolgeville/LIttle Falls Railroad Line. Parking available, firewood is on property for foraging and streams with cool water and a few waterfalls to soak under after a hot day.  Best rock-climbing from the Gunks to Albany with renowned climbs such as The Wind Wall and the Diehidrals, a sheer face with bolts and runs already set up by pros from our area. Bicycling and bushwacking road and trail. Historic rockcuts form the 1800's through beautiful wooded trail and an antique Rock-crusher with works of art inside.

Mohawk Valley Dairy Farm Living

Our Mohawk Valley Homestead was established by Dale's great grandfather in the late 1800s. Our family is the 4th generation to operate the dairy farm, which is home to 100 milk cows and their babies. Together with our family, we operate the farm 365 days of the year caring for our livestock. During your visit, we welcome you to partake in "life on the farm" and help us milk, feed, and harvest the food for our animals. Our farm is located in the Mohawk Valley which is full revolutionary war history. During your stay enjoy the wonders our community has such as a ride on the Erie Canal, visit to the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, Omegang and the Saranac Brewery. We would love to share our farm with you and your family.

We hung our hammock in the giant trees in the creek.

We loved our tent spot tucked away behind the trees. We got a view of the cow pasture.

Hogan's Landing

Property was an Airport called Red Wing back in the 60's and 70's. Purchased and made many improvements. Pond, hiking trails, grass and paved runway. A must see property.

We now have new facilities for special events, such as WEDDINGS, ANNIVERSARIES, REUNIONS, MEETINGS & BIRTHDAYS.  

For both sites there are numerous trails in forest for camping, hiking . Fire wood is available for purchase at the camp site.

You can set up your camp site almost anywhere you choose.

Crystal clear pond has fountains, swing, dock, canoes, paddle boat & fire pit.

Two (2) runways for those that want to fly in. (NY05)

At both sites we ask when leaving, they must remain as you arrived and what was carried in must be carried out. At present there are no dumpsters available.

Final note : If you prefer to use the whole property exclusively, please contact us for an addition rates and we will block the other site.

There are plenty of fun toys available for water activities!
