I can not say enough about Good Gaud locations and Wes. My first day was at the 4WD spot. It is named 4WD for a reason. Do not attempt in a 2WD or a low clearance vehicle. As you are driving the trail back to it you may have to improvise at certain points due to washouts and ruts. Watch the weather. There are two ravines you will cross and I would imagine a downpour would leave you stranded until the water subsided. For this reason I got with Wes and move to the spots closer to the road the second day because of the increased rain chances. These spots have just as good of a view and the spots are spaced far enough apart. These are very accessible to any low clearance 2WD vehicle. As far as the road noise from the highway. Yes you will hear it but really not that noticeable and starts to die down around 5:00 pm. Overall, I would rate this as one of the best primitive spots I have stayed on HipCamp. Thanks again Wes for letting us use your property and you were great with the quick responses.

The views of El Capitan and Guadalupe Peak were great. Site was located close to the park entrance. I enjoyed the secluded tent camping. I texted the host a couple times to ask questions about the site. He was very informative and answered in a timely manner.

Good Guad was the perfect camp spot for our group! It had gorgeous views and was flexible for setting up tents. We used it while we hiked in White Sands, Carlsbad, and Guadalupe Mtns.
My husband enjoyed the ride in and we did not find it tricky with the map in our Bronco and Jeep Gladiator.
We will definitely be recommending it to anyone visiting the area!

Great views from the Guad Almighty site! The online map to the site was a big help in getting there without any issues. Wes was very responsive when we contacted him with questions via Hipcamp messaging.

I loved it. Absolutely beautiful 360 view. It does get extremely windy and the ground is rocky but nothing that you can’t prepare for !!! I will definitely be coming back!!

We had a great experience camping at Good Guad! We ended up staying at Ocotillo Grande and it was perfect for our day trips to Guadalupe Mountains and Carlsbad Caverns NPs!

Great spot all by yourself with incredible views. Can be windy and definitely need a high clearance vehicle to get back to the site. Looking at the mountains and Guadalupe peak, highest point in Texas, if you’re planning to make the hike.

The campsite was great! The 4 of us who took this trip would recommend it to anyone going out to Guadalupe national park!
We went out there with 2 4WD vehicles and the terrain wasn’t difficult for them at all. The campsite itself self is very secluded within the gate, but you can still see the road in the distance if you’re the anxious type. The 3 yuccas that mark the site were very noticeable, even at night, which is nice. And there are rock statues that mark the path to the campsite. There are plenty of spaces for multiple tents and the fire pit came in handy for meals. Not to mention the amazing view of El Capitan every morning!
The location itself is great too! It’s only 10 minutes from Guadalupe’s Pine Springs visitor center, 40 minutes from salt basin dunes, and about 1.5hrs to Carlsbad, and 1.10 hours to Carlsbad caverns. And less than 2 hours to White Sands. So if you’re a national park junky like us, this is the perfect spot!

Spectacular view of El Capitan! We had a full moon while there which illuminated the landscape and was absolutely gorgeous. Definitely need a 4x4 high clearance as there were a couple of areas of the road that were a bit intense, but absolutely worth it while visiting Guadeloupe National Park!

Had a great experience camping here, even some off roading fun to get to our site. The views were amazing especially being able to see El Capitan with what seems like even Guadalupe peak Itself. The entrance is a little hard to miss especially at night so be careful ! I would definitely love to stay at this site in the future.
