We sit right at the bottom of a beautiful bluff right along the banks of the river! We have a dry cabin, with outdoor water, bathroom and cedar shower house. The Magic Land Homestead is our 70 acre wooded private retreat. We are about an hour from St. Louis, Missouri, on a beautiful country drive. We rent our Enchanted Treehouse that sleeps up to 9 guests for those who enjoy a more pampered getaway with a real bathroom and shower, and we also rent out a Rustic A-Frame that's a little more primitive with a composting toilet and a hose shower out back.
Our four free range lovable dogs, colorful chickens, silly geese and goofy turkey Hammerstein, are usually part of the fun of your stay. We have a 3 acre lake with kayak and paddle boat and dock as well as a spring fed wet weather creek.
Our mission is to grow our own organic food and to live as sustainably and mindfully as possible in connection with Mother Nature. So the guests we attract are looking for a sacred more quiet getaway. If you wish to throw a big party another place would be best.
There are some trails and open areas to play, along with fun swings and an opportunity to reconnect with your soul. We look forward to seeing you soon!

The view of the cabin was absolutely breath taking. The cabin overlooks the beautiful big piney river and outlooks large rocks and Missouri hills. We stayed here from 10/23-10/26 so the vibrant fall leaves painted the backdrop. Even just sitting on the patio drinking coffee was very tranquil. We could not kayak due to the weather since it was raining on and off during our stay. Lacy was so kind to give us a full refund and a discount code for next time! Outside the cabin there is a huge fire pit where we roasted marshmallows and stargazed. We recommend buying some fire wood from Lacey and utilizing the bonfire grill and regular grill. Lacey offers so many amenities that made home cooking meals super easy and enjoyable. We made some really amazing meals that we enjoyed by candlelight on the picnic table. The aesthetic of the cabin was 10/10 and super hippie/boho and cozy. Which we absolutely loved! Our dogs had a wonderful time playing fetch outside the cabin. One of the best parts was taking a hot shower while it was chilly outside. This was the perfect and most romantic trip for my boyfriend and I to celebrate his 30th birthday. It is our tradition to go Glamping for our birthdays. We’ve been to a few different airbnbs but we both agreed that this has been our fav.Lastly but most importantly, Lacey was an extremely hospitable host, really quick to answer any questions I had and went out of her way to accommodate us several times. Thank you so much Lacey we will be back:)

I can’t say enough good things about my stay at Piney Bend River Cabin! From the very beginning, Lacey was the most accommodating, responsive, and kind host. She put in extra effort to organize an extended Piney River float— it was the highlight of the visit!
The cabin itself was just precious. It was cozy, spotless, and had more amenities than any rental I’ve ever stayed in—fully stocked with everything you could possibly need and then some. You can tell so much thought and care went into making the space welcoming and comfortable.
The setting was gorgeous—right on the river with a peaceful, low-key vibe that made it the perfect place to relax and recharge. The drive up the hill to the cabin looked a little intimidating at first, but it was easily doable in my AWD Forester. Just give it some gas :)
Between the amazing cabin, the beautiful location, and Lacey’s incredible hospitality, this trip couldn’t have been better. I would recommend Piney Bend River Cabin to anyone looking for a chill and secluded adventure. I can’t wait to come back!
P.s. the neighbors are all friendly, including Julio, the Llama that arrived a few doors down.

My kids and I had a great stay in the cabin. It is small but has everything you need to stay cool and comfortable. Quiet, secluded, close river access. Lacy was extremely helpful and communicated with me quickly to coordinate our stay. Lacey helped us with kayaks and a shuttle up the river so we could float back to the cabin. So nice to end a day on the river at your cabin without having to do anything else to get there. We will definitely be back!

We had a great stay at the cabin! You definitely need 4WD to get up the hill. If you don't have 4WD, then the RV would maybe be a better option since it's located at the base of that same hill. The cabin sits above the road that runs next to the river. You can't really even see the cabin from the road, so you're really hidden, which is nice.

5 nights at The Magic Land Homestead
What a wonderful homebase for a beautiful retreat away from the hussle and bussle of city life! I went in most excited for the indoor swing, which was as spectacular as expected, but everything else on the site was so comforting and it was so easy to feel at home. Hearing the roosters every morning was such a fun way to feel connected to nature as soon as the sun came up. If you're looking for true rest and relaxation, while being in the middle of tons of trails, river spots, and natural oasis' - this is your place! Laura was so helpful and accommodating of our needs, and easy to contact even with the low cell service (which was a wonderful way to 100% disconnect from it all). We can't wait to come back again someday, any spot on the Magic Land seems to be recipe for a great time. :)

4 nights at The Magic Land Homestead
It had all the sights and sounds of a homestead. Roosters, chickens, ducks and dogs greeted us in the mornings. The A-Frame was very comfortable, cozy, and eclectic. We had everything we needed for a long weekend.
Laura Lynne is a very thoughtful host, and everything we could have needed was present, clearly labeled, and had instructions on how to use it in case you're unfamiliar.
Though we did not need any of these items, the A-Frame had a good first aid kit, supplies in case of a power outage, and a box full of commonly forgotten item. As someone who does education on substance abuse, I want to give Laura Lynne two big thumbs up on including Narcan with the first aid kit.
Stocked shelves of books and games were an unexpected and fun bonus!
You can do as much or as little as you want to here. While we heard other people, the sight lines from the A-Frame were very carefully guarded and we were able to feel like we were alone on our little bit of creation. It was very restful. Make sure you walk down and check out the beautiful creek.

The cabin was very clean and cozy. It’s also close to a lot of outdoor activities that we really enjoyed. Lacey was able to help get us setup on a float trip with her kayaks after our planned trip got cancelled. Floating the Big Piney is a must do when you’re there. It’s the perfect spot if you’re looking for a weekend getaway in one of the most beautiful parts of the State!

Laura Lynne stocks her A Frame with all the essentials so you don't have to worry about them and she even sends you a comprehensive guide ahead of time so you know exactly what to expect. However, the true standout of the Magic Land is of course the land itself. Want an entire charming, tiny lake to yourself with a provided kayak for a peaceful experience? Want to soak under the stars in a tub heated by your own campfire? These are just a few parts of what make the Magic Land so magical. It's rare to get this much nature completely to yourself, but you can get it. Will absolutely be recommending to others.

Absolutely lovely stay! The views are AMAZING! Beautiful little home. Lacey really has thought of everything. A dry cabin, but they have a lovely little cold water dish station outside, and AC. An outdoor shower, but with hot water, shower mats, and a dry space for clothes. Also the compositing toilet? DREAMY! We've all stayed at those places with a "composting toilet" that's just a bug infested old porta potty with a bucket of mulch in the corner to sprinkle over. Or the one with a too small shower curtain that never really closes. And they all seem to be in a hill. This one is level 🤣, has clear instructions, is very clean, has hand sanitizer and toilet bowl spray, extra supplies, is roomy, not far from the house but still very private, it's lovely. Lacey was wonderful we had a few issues (none of them were her fault!) and she was quick to respond and did everything she could to make it right. We will absolutely be back!

We spent two nights in the cabin for Easter weekend and had an amazing time. It rained/stormed practically the whole time, but the space was so well equipped we still had so much fun! The front porch is nice and deep, so plenty of room to enjoy the outdoors even when it’s raining. There’s a beautiful view of the river, the beds are cozyyy, and the cabin is equipped with everything you would need besides bringing your food! It is very well insulated and the AC unit worked really well. The compost toilet had such a cute little room and with the directions/set up that did not smell at all! Everything is well lit, and the outdoor shower is really cool.
A few things to consider- we had a 1.5 year old with us (she did her first Easter egg hunt there which was special). But, because of the layout with the porch height and the drop off/overlook of the river, we had to be on top of her at all times when outside. Which wasn’t a big deal but if you had multiple little ones it might be a little challenging.
We also brought our 90 lbs Labrador who had an amazing time. He had plenty of room to roam and went for some beautiful walks.
The host, Lacey, was phenomenal! Very responsive, so thoughtful (she left a little Easter basket for our girl), and was really on top of it watching the weather and levels of the river since there was a flood warning. You are in really good hands here and guaranteed to have a good time (even if are dealing with some weather)!
