Farm stays near Eminence

·

The crystal waters that flow through Eminence were so beautiful that the National Park Service opted to create its first unit to protect a waterway, the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, in 1964. Today, much of the area remains as untamed as it was decades ago, thanks to this protection. It’s a superb place to go paddling, fishing, and swimming—and then wander through the small towns to explore the history and culture of the southeastern Missouri Ozarks. Historic mills, stunning springs, and deep Ozark hollers are all waiting to be experienced. Eminence is the basecamp for these adventures, offering private RV parks, campsite rentals, and public campgrounds nearby.

Robert's Redneck Retreat is located on about 16 acres of pasture and 58 acres of forested land with a creek and trails running through it. Our property also adjoins 1200 acres of the Mark Twain National Forest, dotted with springs, trails, rivers, lakes, ponds and breathtaking views. We have three small cabins on the property that are spaced out for privacy. There are also potential for tent camp sites. My husband and I love nature, farming, gardening, and sharing time with like-minded individuals. Our dream is small scale hobby farming adjoined with cabin rentals, allowing trees to regrow in places that were once pasture in order to do our part to help maintain habitat for wild animals and plants. It is a balance that we love and it is our pleasure to share this property with you. We are new here, but we are not new to the camping world; we have been helping campers have positive experiences since 2013 and already have over 170 positive reviews on Airbnb. We would love for Hip Campers to come experience our brand of cabin camping, with farm and forest experiences.A little history of the surrounding area: The Mark Twain National Forest was stripped by loggers in the 1800's and was purchased by the government as a preserve. Since then, it has regrown into hardwood forest, dotted with remnants of pine. It feels wild and untouched, despite knowing it's history. And within it, it harbors all manner of waterways, wildlife, plants, and fungi beyond your imagination. We love southern Missouri and hope you come catch a taste of the wildness that is the Forest. Disconnect, unplug, lose your cell signal, and come find yourself in the woods :)

We are just getting Dotson acres started. Our motto is faith, family and farmstead. We just moved here this summer of 2025 from Tennessee so the property is a work in progress. I am a veteren of the Marine Corps and also a volunteer firefighter and we live and operate under christian values. Eventually to add to your camping experience, ive got plans for some off grid cabins and an earthship. In addition to camp spots, ai would like to make a little prayer area in the woods with some benches and a big cross. We hope to have a trail cut and cleared for a small hike soon. The plans for Dotson acres is to also sell chainsaw carvings and other things I weld, sculpt or create. Plant starts and garden produce, chicken eggs and any other creative ways we can find to help fund our dream of being together doing what we love instead of going to a normal job to make someone elses dreams come true. Not far away you can visit Mark Twain National Forest, Montauk State Park, Ozark National Scenic Riverways, and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum to name a few. Roughly 40 minutes off I44 at rolla and 20 minutes ftom hwy 60 just 2 hours to branson and springfield. Walmart and fast food are just 10 minutes away. We are new to the area but there are other lakes, trails and stuff to do close. Lots of flea markets and antiques stores close by to go explore. Located on a small private lane there are a few quiet neighbors. There is a parking area to access trail by walk in, though we are trying to make it vehicle accessable. Our first spot is able to fit a small van camper or a pickup with a small box camper though its pretty tight. 4x4 may be needed. We appreciate your reviews on hipcamp and google. Where to go

Echo Bluff State Park

Considered the “gateway to the Ozarks,” Echo Bluff State Park opened in 2013. Sinking Creek runs through the park, providing a focal point for outdoor adventures under the massive bluffs that line the waterway and give Echo Bluff its name. A modern campground offers walk-in tent camping sites and RV sites, with full hookups, free wifi, bathouses, and more.

Ozarks National Scenic Riverways

The beautiful Jacks Fork River and Current River form the heart of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. Bring your own or arrange a kayak or canoe rental to take a classic “float trip.” Or take a hike to explore the historic mills and scenic springs. Camping opportunities abound, from well-developed RV parks to off-grid tent sites, some with river access. The National Park Service operates a number of public campgrounds, including large ones at Big Spring and Alley Spring. Riverfront cabins and other glamping accommodations offer upgraded camping experiences.

Mark Twain National Forest

Aside from the regional state park and NPS sites, the Eminence region is surrounded by the Mark Twain National Forest, which covers 1.5 million acres in Missouri. Hiking trails, scenic drives, and watersports abound. Dispersed camping, RV sites, tent camping, cabins, and more can be found on these National Forest lands. Many locations are remote, so wifi and cell signals can be hard to find. But, the lack of development means you’ll find inky skies for stargazing at night.

When to go

Summer is hot, but it’s the most popular time to visit Eminence due to the waterways. Temperatures can get above 100 degrees, with high humidity. Spring and fall are especially good if you plan to spend more time on the trails instead of in the water, with fall being particularly scenic as the leaves change. Winter is generally cold, and campers may encounter snow, ice, and freezing temperatures, though some campgrounds offer year-round access.
