Weekend Trip to All You Need Institute

We had a magical time camping at the all you need institute. Jordan was really friendly, and accommodating. He was around if you needed anything but also we felt like we had privacy when we wanted. The pond is beautiful and we got in to cool off. We will definitely be back, and I would recommend to anyone I know! We clamped under the bell tent and the beds were really comfortable. There is also plenty of space for tent camping too if that’s what you’re looking for.

Tony and Tracy are wonderful hosts! Super helpful with all the things Laurel has to offer! The property is extremely well cared for and they make every attempt to make you feel welcome! If we are ever back in Laurel we will definitely be staying with them again! Thanks so much Tony and Tracy!

Our 4th time back, and it's one of our favorite spots around! Private, serene and the creek is always perfect. Will come back agin & again! David is very responsive and helpful with any needs.

Weekend Trip to The Escape

This campsite was beautiful and right on the pond. Bob was a great host who reached out beforehand to ensure we would have everything we needed. The site has a fire pit with a grate for cooking with wood provided. It was a great and relaxing time with my son and will most certainly return.

2 nights at Camp Topisaw

Our family of 6 and 2 dogs camped along the campside creek site. It was amazing. The site was huge, with plenty of space to set up tents in the shade or in the sun. The kids enjoyed swimming in the creek for 2 straight days. We never saw or heard another camper. At night, the sound of the water and frogs was a perfect ending to the day.

We had such a peaceful and magical stay on Bob’s land. The night sky was absolutely breathtaking, so many stars, it felt like we could see the whole galaxy. The lake was beautiful and calming during the day, and the fire pit made the nights extra cozy. We roasted marshmallows and just soaked in the quiet. It did get pretty cold at night, so come prepared with warm layers! Thank you, Bob, for sharing such a special place with us!

1 night at Camp Strong Wood

I feel my words will prove inadequate to capture the essence of what Camp Strong Wood has to offer anyone who is fortunate enough to follow their sense of wonder into this beautiful land. If you are trying to have a human experience by going back to basics, without sacrificing civility and genuine hospitality - this is the place that needs to top your list. The staff (Chris and Zoey) are wonderful and caring people who made us Floridians feel welcome from the moment we arrived late at night when they came out to greet us with a smile! The atmosphere of community, communication with the land and its creatures and features, and tangible love of what the do was so refreshing - people who are so grateful and blessed to call their stewardship of this acreage their livelihood. Everything is sanitary and well-constructed with care. I loved my stay and will be back in the near future. This place is well worth your time and money, highly recommend.

Loved my short stay at this site. It was peaceful, had ample space, and a great view of a peaceful pond. The host were gracious and helpful. I will definitely stay longer next time.

Awesome property! Stayed in site 1 on the pond. Loved relaxing and just gazing at the beautiful clear water, hearing the trees and leaves blowing in the wind, watching the fish swim by and listening to the birds. Did the trail on the property and was really interesting to read the information plackets periodically placed. The lichen loop was really just that- lichen everywhere you looked! Loved seeing the tortoise burrows, even though i didn’t get a chance to see any tortoises. :) Jordan was super helpful. As a traveler camping alone, I felt safe and was able to really relax for my two nights there. Loved that there was a sink available and also a shower option.

2 nights at WenJoy Acres

Staying at Wenjoy Traincar was an incredible experience! It is an historic train car converted into a living space with the addition of a large living room, laundry room and second bathroom. This is a very large, private and beautiful location with an abundance of pine trees and wildlife. I enjoyed sitting out on the spacious covered patio with a view of the pond, the pool and surrounding woods. The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped and the place is impeccably maintained. I can't wait to return!

Weekend Trip to Luxor Camping, RV & Retreat

If you are looking for a place to recharge your batteries, look at the stars, and breath in the fresh air, this is the place. A little off the beaten path and away from the amusement parks, the pine tree canopy and the rustle of the pine leaves give a person a full break from the hustle and bustle of the work-a-day world. Your hostess is delightful and takes care to greet your and make you feel at home.

Truly a healing stay at all you need. The pond is magical! We stayed in the yurt, which was wonderful. everyone was very welcoming and kind aswell :)

A beautiful place to camp. David was such a great host. We loved the property and it was very private and peaceful. Our weather was cold, but it was still sunny and loved hiking around the property. We will definitely be back!!

Weekend Trip to My Way Campground

It met our needs for a quiet, full hookup site for a few days near Hattiesburg. Looks fairly new, if you follow the ‘Waze’ app for directions you won’t have any problem driving straight to it. Would visit again. Thank-you!

95 acres on the beautiful Topisaw Creek. Here we've raised 5 kids and a multitude of dogs, cats and chickens and a small herd of pineywoods cattle. The woods are quiet and undisturbed , harboring native species like jack in the pulpit, trillium and Florida anise. The spring-fed (and thus always refreshing!) Topisaw Creek forms the eastern border of our property, so plan to spend time on the sandy beaches and rock bars soaking up the sun or hunting for rocks and fossils (petrified wood and arrowheads have been found here). Many folks also enjoy a leisurely float down the creek in inner tubes ('tubing') or in a kayak. (Please note that after heavy rains the creek rises to epic heights and is too dangerous to navigate.) Little to no light pollution makes for amazing stargazing!

Our northern boundary is a tract of DeSoto National Forest, where we have practically exclusive access to another 90 acres of longleaf pine savannah and more bottomland creeks. The sandhills are home to prickly pear cactus, deer moss (7 kinds of lichen), and our mascot, the endangered Gopher Tortoise. We're working to develop a nature education and retreat center where we share permaculture practices, homesteading/sustainable living skills, conservation practices, and approaches to connecting more deeply to the land. You will have access to and be a 5 minute walk from our many walking paths and our swimming pond, as well as a 15 minute walk to Desoto National Forest, which butts up to our property line. We would love to have you as our guest on the land, and are especially eager to meet travelers who deeply love nature and want to live in better relationship to it! Check in is between 2pm - 8pm, Check out is 11am. There's a fee for late check-in to our site.

Opal Springs Nature Haven

The property is an old homestead recently reclaimed and being brought back to life after many years abandoned. Early 1800s Bulgarian immigrants started a little community here called Stein. The old railroad used to pass through and there are alot of artifacts scattered throughout the property. We are in the process of cleaning up the old cabin built in late 1800s suprisingly still standing. The hardwood forest has a creek running through that is virtually untouched and home to wildlife of all kinds. Birds and wildlife of all kinds have a home here and no hunting allowed. Some trails have been cut and there are some natural trails for exploring the property through the hardwoods and campers are welcome to make new ones. A spring fed pond is great for fishing or just relaxing under the majestic live oaks. If Mushroom foraging is your thing you are in luck after a nice rain. This place had the best of southeast Louisiana and truly is a hidden gem. We are still in the clearing process so there are alot of projects going on but we definitely have some cool spots to pitch a tent. Host is on property in shipping container and willing to make accommodations as needed as we have electricity but are pretty much off the grid.. do not have an outdoor bathroom but could set something up with little effort. Have running water for solar shower or creek bath if you'd rather. Since we are still rebuilding there are some piles of lumber and things that may be unsafe for small children and animals. I have 2 dogs on the property with me but are fenced and friendly. If you have any questions just ask!
