Camp Strong Wood derives its name from the many natural growth oak trees found on the property as well as being in the Strong Hope community. Wildlife abounds with deer, rabbit, squirrel, fox, racoon, opossum, armadillo, chipmunk among other forest dwellers. The lake is in a natural flood bottom and is stocked with largemouth bass, perch, channel catfish and natural flathead catfish which came in through the creek which runs through the land. Austin has such a wonderful space! Upon arrival he greeted us and gave us a tour of the barn and animal stables. The ranch was easy to find and has a spacious driveway suitable for car camping. There are also several tent sites available, one of which was under a covered area with lights and an outdoor space heater. Bathrooms were inside with flushing toilets, heat, and lights- a camping luxury to us. We couldn't have been more grateful for the roof and made it through a rough storm shacked up with the incredibly friendly animals. Pet friendly, our 60lb dog had just as much fun looking at the animals as we did. We are looking forward to another stay if we're ever in the area.

I arrived later than scheduled and they still greeted me immediately and got me to my prime real estate (right next to the pool). Super helpful. The property is well designed and tucked away from the world. A lake to fish from, a pool, a pavilion, 2 dog parks, a store. I just started my RV journey and have been to a few spots. This place exceeded my expectations. A must stop in Mississippi, along the I-20.

This place is a MUST visit! My husband and i enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back with babies and grandson. Mr. Austin stayed in contact even before the trip...We enjoyed interacting with the animals and were hoping to do the horseback riding but it rained. This place is 1000/10! We only overnighted at Wendy Oaks. It was a great, easily accessed campground for us. I add that as we travel with a small trailer and a U-turn was necessary. The trees and lake made me feel like I was in a camp ground, Unfortunately it rained all night and we skipped the hike around the lake. Our site was gravel but level.

We had a wonderful time camping at this site. Decor was fun and holiday themed. Staff was friendly and kind. Very attentive. Neighbors were fun. Our kids had fun on the playground equipment. Plenty of room for running and ball games. We had a nice fire. Didn't get to try the gem mining b/c we ran out of time. The area was great for walking. Overall great stay!

Weekend Trip to Camp Strong Wood

Our stay was pretty much what we were looking for - secluded, quiet, and comfortable. The best part was the staff. They were beyond just friendly and professional, but were also very accommodating. They gave us a side-by-side tour of the property, let us borrow a phone charger, and even offered us fishing poles and bait to use in the two beautiful ponds. If you are looking for something secluded and quiet where you can just relax and enjoy nature, we strongly recommend.
