Turn off the main road and head down a long, private drive leaving the highway noise behind. A massive, 22 acre property greets you offering 453 feet of shoreline and beautiful views of Pinus Lake. The lakeside amenities include a sandy beach, multiple docks, private boat launch, and a viewing platform to catch those breathtaking sunrises. Additionally, there are several walking trails throughout the property, a grass playing field and lots of shady areas to relax and enjoy quiet moments.

Rat Root River Retreat

The beautiful forest has been in our family for 90 years.  My great grandfather farmed the land and raised 10 children on this land.  He also worked in the pulp and paper mills in nearby International Falls.  The original house is still there which is my grandfather's son and host of the property.  A short distance down the road, my grandfather's brother had a farm and raised 13 children.  Seeing the so many stars, witnessing the Northern lights, seeing wildlife in their natural habitat has provided joy to so many descendants that lived and visited this beautiful place.  Our family would like to share the peace and tranquility that one feels when being a part of nature as our family has experienced for so many years. Learn more about this land:Breath the fresh air of one of the beautiful forests of Northern Minnesota. Examine wildlife, backpack 3 miles to breathtaking Lake Kabetogama or north into wild Canada.  Pitch your tent anywhere to relax and get away from it all.  Perfect for deer hunters, fishing, backpacking, snowshoeing or cross country skiing.  Get off the grid to life with nature, view wildlife and experience the northern lights.  

Heward Road South

17 acres of property with a mix of cleared and brush land. Dry land with outhouse located beside camping area.  Train runs beside property but is generally pretty quiet (no horns). If you’re looking for a spot to overnight on your trip across Ontario, this is it! Private, rarely used and well taken care of. Note that there is a cabin on the property that is not available for use and locked. 

Out Of Farms Way Campground

Camping, Fishing, Hunting, Hiking, Snowmobiling,

ATVs... The possibilities are endless! Enjoy our rustic campground 2 miles off of Hwy 11. Access to Lake Of The Woods (53 min), Rainy River (10min), and Rainy Lake (55min), all within an hour's drive. Minutes away from Franz Jevne and  Nelson's Landing boat launches, onto the Rainy River. This campground has NO sewer/toilets (except the outhouse) but does have two 20 amp outlets for campers. There is plenty of campfire wood on the ground, and you're welcome to burn in designated areas, only, please. 

This campground boasts trails located on the property and is surrounded by state forests with miles of trails. Manitou trail is located just a 1/4 mile from the property for hiking and ATVs. Additionally, if you're looking for a hunting or fishing camp this fall, this campground would be a great home base for you.
