Sunflower Retreat

A humble, 2-acre vegetarian family micro farm.  Home to our family of five, 2 cats, 2 rabbits and sixteen chickens. Beautiful, established flower gardens, fruit trees and veggies.   This is also home to Sunflower Yoga & Mindfulness where yoga and meditation are taught.  The cabin is nestled in the 1 acre of woods behind our home,  protected by large old pines and surrounding acres of forest. Home to many songbirds, woodpeckers, raven, deer, porcupine and the occasional black bear.  A true retreat.Small, rustic cabin with electricity in the woods behind our home in the hilltowns of Western Massachusetts. You are just 300 feet from the house, but while in the woods you will have complete privacy. The woods are filled with songbirds and there is a small platform for meditation. There is no wifi in the cabin, so enjoy the ability to disconnect from it all while connecting within. The hilltown region is rich with rivers and lakes for swimming, boating and fishing and forests for hiking. Black Rabbit Farm is not only a beautiful oasis, but a fully operational 10 acre farm. 

Situated at the foot of the Berkshires, the farm is home to a small orchard, vineyard, and garden space. 

We take pride in creating a sustainable environment for all our production, based on what the land has to offer. Small greenhouse spaces create year-round production. Rocky hillside will develop a significant "terroir" for our grapes. Even adopted cats prowl the fields to reduce small animal populations.

The views are to die for and the easy access to Rte 91 and the Mass Pike will make your trip an easy one for all involved.

Rosy Goat Farm

Welcome to Rosy Goat Farm!!
We are the quintessential family farm/homestead, our farmhouse was built in the 1840’s
Bill and I bought this 15-acre property in 2012, It was overgrown with wild roses. We have worked with a limited budget, and used animals to clear the land. The goats love the roses, but they only eat the leaves. The pigs dig the roses up. Chickens rake it clean. Win win!
Very interesting place here- lots to tell you, there’s quite a list of things to do and see around here! Did you know that Gilbertville has a covered bridge? It is one of the last covered bridges still in use in Massachusetts!
First- a touch of History:
Rev. Timothy Ruggles bought this land from the Native Americans for his family to live on, and work the land. His son, Brigadeer General Timothy Ruggles became unpopular after he introduced the Stamp Act, and was banished to Nova Scotia. 
His daughter Bathsheba became the first woman executed in the United States for the murder of her husband Joshua Spooner. (There’s a book about it called Murdered by his wife by Deborah Navas.)

There’s Hardwick house of Pizza- for tasty pizza and subs, which also serves beer.  Feeling fancy? Try Hardwick Crossing Country Club (features a golf course), it has a restaurant with a full-service bar, gorgeous scenery! Its a 3 minute drive from hereMimi’s for your morning coffee and lunch, yum!Also check out Stone Cow Brewery in Barre -has a kids play area while you wait for your meal!Ware has Mexicali Grill, Theresa’s Restaurant for Italian foods, Hanna Devine’s for traditional American cuisine, and, Pig Park BBQ for comfort food! Farmer Mat in North Brookfield has take out meals- there are picnic tables available, beautiful views.
Things to do:
You can kayak, and fish, at Swift River in Belchertown.Hardwick is the home of the oldest agricultural fair in the US, held every year in August, and, every Sunday there’s a small farmers market on the common.Hardwick also has a winery- Hardwick Vineyard and Winery, and, check out Lost Towns brewery- the name is a throwback to the 4 towns that were submerged to create the Quabbin Reservoir!Medicine River Pow Wow is in August here in Gilbertville.  River Run.The East Quabbin Land Trust has birdwatching and fabulous views, and the Central Mass Bike trail entrance is located here. Bike it or hike it!  Quabbin Reservoir is close by for boating and fishing.There are free concerts in Grenville Park in Ware, (check for dates).Ware also  has Janine’s Frostee ice cream and fast foods- and live music on weekend nights!Also check out these on line: Ragged Hill orchard and Rock House Reservation in West Brookfield, and Carter and Stevens farm in Barre, and the Leicester, and Mendon movie drive-in’s.Old Sturbridge village is 30 minutes away.Lake Siog in Holland has a lovely picnic area and beach for swimming. (30 mins South from here)

Wilder Hill Gardens

Wilder Hill Gardens is a working farm nursery.
We grow nursery stock using sustainable methods.
On the land, you might see a robust flock of laying hens, pigs in a portable pen cultivating new ground, plantings of medicinal herbs, and gorgeous
 sun and shade display gardens. A half acre of pick-your-own pears, currants, gooseberries and blueberries yields organic fruit from mid-July through September.

With pristine water from our well and forests all around, you will camp amid our gardens and orchards. Visit the chickens and pick fresh, organic fruit in season. Walk down the country road to the Bear River for a dip or explore nearby Shelburne Falls. 
We have a newly built outhouse. Enjoy a rustic “bucket bath’ or outdoor  shower while looking over the wooded hillsides.

Wilder Hill Gardens is very peaceful, guaranteed you will be greeted by bird song every morning and the evening sky is bright with stars. We are in a lovely rural neighborhood yet centrally located to any number of natural wonders and cultural activities.

There is a limit of two tents
on each site and four people.

Each site has a separate fire pit,
water source, and private camping area. Sorry, but we are not accepting pets at this time.

There are two farm dogs, Viola and Jackson at Wilder Hill Gardens. They are friendly, well trained and mostly work along side me. But they do have free range of the farm and if anyone in your party has a fear or dislike  of dogs this is probably not the best choice for you.

We have PYO fresh fruit, vegetables, cut flowers, eggs, and all of our nursery stock for sale in season.  There is a newly built garden shop and art gallery with a 12 Ft. Mosaic made of thousands of handmade porcelain pieces.

This high-traffic site allows our work to reach the most people! HOWEVER! If you are incredibly sensitive to ROAD PRESENCE, VEHICLE NOISES, PROXIMITY TO TRAFFIC, it might be off-putting.That said,  as soon as one steps to the back behind the property, it is an oasis. The cars are out of sight (but not sound), and it's nothing but grass, plants, trees, birds, pollinators and life!  For travelers, this happens to be a VERY accessible location.
