Primitive camping on Caddo Lake is an experience like no other. Spanning 25,400 acres, the naturally formed fresh water lake gracefully crosses from Louisiana into Texas and is home to the largest cypress forest in the world. The area on which this camp is located is rich in history--once the dwelling place of Caddo Indians who were known for their basket weaving and pottery skills. The site was part of the land acquired by the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. Caddo Lake has a unique ecosystem and is a high quality habitat for many species, including migratory and resident waterfowl, osprey, eagles, alligators, and many species of fish. It is considered to be a valuable water system and Texas' only wetland of international importance. Kayaks, canoes, and peddle boats may be launched from the shore. Visitors will want to be familiar with Louisiana State Laws concerning boating and fishing, including those that apply to children. Fires are permitted unless there is a Parish mandated burn ban in effect.

This place was absolutely wonderful. What a find for a one night stop/road trip. From the amazing ease of checking in, to our cute little Welcome packet then add a super clean bathroom, laundry facilities and even an exercise room?! Wow! And they even had a well stocked library that was organized!! I would say this great place is better suited to RVers. That's not to say it's not amazing for a 1 to 2 night stay for us tent people. Thank you to our host. You have a beautiful maintained property. And we appreciated it!

The bathhouse & laundry rooms were just like being hosted at a personal residence- clean & well appointed. The layout of the sites allowed a feeling of privacy. Hart was great!! My boys and I absolutely loved the campsite out on the jetty. It was clean and had multiple locations for tents. The water access was perfect and plenty of fish were biting. We definitely hope to come back next spring! If you’re used to camping the TX state park and looking for something different and off the beaten path, this is the place! Don’t hesitate, book it.

I loved camping on Will and Austyn's land. They met us with a warm hello a tour upon arrival. The tent was located towards the back of the property, tucked away nicely. We had the whole camp to ourselves, which was GREAT! We wanted a nice and quiet trip, which is what we got. The tent itself was cozy. Before we arrived, Will and Austyn set up our tent and bathroom area with heaters, turned on and ready to go. That was an AMAZING touch. The night we arrived, the low was 25 degrees. But it actually got hot in the tent, I was sweating. They also provided an electric blanket! Again, a wonderful touch that they didnt have to provide. The wifi was Great! If you want to unplug completely, great. But we needed the service for Emergency calls back home. The community kitchen was great! It had almost everything we needed. The bathroom was warm because of the space heater and fully stocked with essentials! Now a couple of things to think about: If you're a coffee drinker, bring k cups. Thats what was inside the tent. Or it will be a process to use the French press. Personally, not my thing, but im a HUGE coffee drinker. The kitchen isnt heated, so cooking was painful the first night only because it was so cold. But the soup we made was worth it. Spiders... everywhere. Lol its expected... only daddy long legs but be aware if you a terrified of spiders like myself. Lighting in the tent was low, bring a lantern! Theres a spot to hang one. All in all it was WONDERFUL! WILL be back!

Loved spending the night with these two rascals. Linda was great and a wonderful host.

We had a great time. The site was nice with a big stone for ring and a soft bed if pine needles. The host, Linda, was very accommodating and responded quickly to communications and made the trip stress free. We loved Porter the goat, Andy the big lovable dog and Molly the little friendly dog. Andy and Porter slept outside of our tent and it was adorable. The location of pretty with some room to explore. Highly recommend.
