Weekend Trip to Backwoods Hideaway

This spot was remote and secluded but easy to get to. It is surrounded by a beautiful creek and host Aaron thought of everything. This was truly a peaceful escape with the comforts of home but wild enough to feel truly refreshed. My pup Roxy and I cannot wait to be back.

Weekend Trip to Backwoods Hideaway

My dog and I had the best trip. Newbie "camper" here. The host was amazing leading up to my trip. Offered several extra accommodations and was very understanding of my being so green with using a generator. I will be rebooking OFTEN. Best place to unplug and unwind. It was all very clean. Hosts have done a great job with this area completely tucked away. You can hear an occasional car but nothing terrible at all. Dollar General is a little over 9 miles, I think. Small gas station is 3 miles. Walmart/Kroger is about 13ish miles away. There's a grill too! If you're looking for a simple woods retreat, look no further. You will not be disappointed.

Absolutely loved my stay at the Backwoods Hideaway! The perfect little spot to getaway! I loved listening to all the sounds of nature, rocking away on the porch encapsulated in a good book, reading by candlelight and listening to the whipporwills and sounds of the creek flowing falling to sleep! Couldn't asked for a better escape to relax and recharge! Thank you Aaron and family for opening up your lovely cabin for all to enjoy!

Fun little campground with a rustic and eclectic vibe. We stayed in the fort room which was cozy and comfy. Clean bathrooms with hot showers!

Cozy little cabin on an absolutely breathtaking piece of land!! Especially with all the rain lately, the waterfalls were really flowing! The beds in the cabin were super comfortable and we all slept great. Liz and her husband were so nice and very helpful!!

Was a beautiful property tucked back in the foothills of the mountains with a creek rolling by all the time making a beautiful noise. Really enjoyed the snow and building a warm fire outside, going inside the cabin to warm up as needed and bird watching. The bed was amazing. Will definitely be back in the spring/summer. :)

I loved my winter night spent here! Perfect place to come and relax; we loved sitting by the fire and staying warm using the heater! The bed was super comfy and the outhouse was extra clean 🤩

Cozy little cabin surrounded by nature. We camped with our two little ones and two dogs and all fit comfortably inside. Everything was super clean and the amenities provided made our trip comfortable with the convenience of not having to pack all of our gear. It was pretty cold during our stay but we're provided with an abundance of blankets and the little heater run by a generator kept the cabin pretty toasty. We enjoyed exploring the creek that runs just outside the cabin and relaxing around the fire.

Backwoods Hideaway was beautiful, it was very private while always feeling very clean and homey, Aaron was incredibly kind and responsive. The outdoors shower was all hooked up for us and as easy as just turning the shower head on, having a clean and heated shower under the stars was perfect after sitting next to a fire with the stream rustling in the background. We can’t wait to return.

3 nights at Hot Tub Cabin/ Cave Run/ RRG

This was the second time I had stayed at James’s Cabin. I absolutely love it and plan to come back in the future. It’s a beautiful place deep in the woods and I cannot recommend it enough.

There is plenty of wildlife around but no hunting is allowed. Our designated tent sites do have firepits and picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Pets are welcome for $10 per pet/per booking and they do need to be leashed/under control at all times. This is an extra so please be sure to add that if you plan to bring your pet. Please pick up after them. We are a short driving distance from West Liberty, Cave Run Lake, Grayson Lake, Carter Caves, Morehead, Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge. We are approximately 20 minutes from the nearest store so you'll want to come prepared. We are located in West Liberty (Morgan County). There is a centrally located bathhouse with toilet, shower and sink and a hose for potable water. We have firewood for sale for $15 per bundle and is an extra option when booking(use what you need during your stay and it is located at the tent sites), you can bring your own and you are welcome to gather from the surrounding area but please do not cut down any living trees/limbs.
