We are on 7 beautiful acres in Baldwin City, KS. We're in town, but you'll feel like you're secluded in the country so you get the convenience of being close to downtown Baldwin, just 3 minutes away, while also feeling like you're in the middle of nowhere peacefully camping, just you and the birds. Our "glamper" is a 1960's retro camper that has been fully restored. The outside still looks very retro, but when you step inside you'll instantly surrender to the relaxation that awaits. Sink into the pile of fluffy pillows, take in the breathtaking boho vibe and the many amenities including A/C and Heat, wifi, a microwave, television with Netflix, refrigerator, waterless toilet and hand-washing sink. Games and snacks are tucked away in the kitchen area for you to enjoy your leisurely time at The Nest! With a large deck on the front you can take in the views of a nearby pond and a meandering creek which serves as a wildlife highway. I recently stayed at Wild Rest Sanctuary upon entering the property I felt like it was transported into another world as a entered the forested road that provided a sense of wunderlust anticipating what was around the next curve. It felt like I was driving backwards in time into nature. I imagined Hansel and Gretel following the trail of bread Crumbs through the forest. Upon arriving at the meadow and first setting eyes on the amenities, I imagined a medieval camp prepared for a king seeing the majestic tents and yurt. Some of the highlights that I experienced during my stay were watching the stars at night smelling the floral scent wafting on the heavy summer air. It felt like I was living in poetry. Other highlights were the well-appointed tents prepared with all amenities needed bed, and bedding, storage, lighting fans. I especially loved how user-friendly the booking website was, as well as all of the items that you could choose from, such as kits for making s'mores and optional Wi-Fi, although that was the last thing I wanted as I was enjoying my escape from civilization. The shower facilities were excellent, especially for an off-the-grid sanctuary. The host Christina was so accommodating and inviting. You could definitely see her passion for her vision of this sanctuary and it showed in her desire to provide everything needed to each person's individual desires. She has that unique magnetic personality that can't help but leave you smiling.

I had an incredible time staying here and cannot recommend it enough. The RV camper was exactly as described—if not better.
I was able to unplug from the busy world but still have the comforts of home. It was so peaceful to sit or read by the water and watch the wildlife, and then when I got too hot I could return to the RV to cool off and enjoy some ice cream from the freezer. The hosts went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and ensured I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I loved the quiet atmosphere and the beautiful surrounding scenery. It was the perfect spot to unplug, relax, and star-gaze.
I will definitely be back! Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with me.

Weekend Trip to The Light Center
This was my second time here! We stayed at the red tail yurt and Susan was extremely timely and welcoming. She answered any questions I had and even invited us to a peace circle event that was happening over my weekend stay.
Since the temperature rose to a steep 90 degrees, we ended up staying at the community barn for a quite a bit of time, which is beautifully furnished. You can tell how much it’s cared for. Our favorite part about the barn was the library corner adorned with a massage chair, which we certainly made good use of.
There are plenty of trails throughout the light center, and aside from the maintained trails, the woodlands remains largely undisturbed. This created an authentic hiking experience that made us really feel like we were surrounded by the wilderness. For critter lovers like us, we came across a lot of frogs and a few turtles on the land, which was quite a delight.
Overall, I would definitely come again for a third time!

Super cute spot!! Lots of work has been put into their property- large pond. Ducks, nighttime lights to easily find/ see camper. They do stay on all night so bring a sleeping mask.
Bed is small- perfect for 1 or 2 small adults.
Camper has its own deck, hammock, chairs& table - perfect for HH drinks or AM ☕️
Inside camper- frig& freezer, coffee pot& microwave. Great spot & a true Glamping experience.

The Sleep Shack was perfect! AC worked well. It was clean and stocked with camping chairs and cornhole boards and bags. Shower and port-a-potty were clean; numerous fire pits to choose between with cooking grates attached to most of them. Would highly recommend while biking the Flint Hills Trail or just for a relaxing night or two away.

This was my first time visiting Kansas and my stay at The Light Center made it so memorable. For making a cross country trip, this was an amazing place to settle for a couple of nights. Susan and the volunteers were very kind and welcoming. They made sure my time at their cabin was taken care of. I came with my little dog and we had such a calming experience exploring the forest trail on the property. It was absolutely beautiful and my favorite stop on my week long journey. Amy and Darius are caring hosts. They have built a comfortable camp spot with the perfect balance of amenities. Showers, port a potties, fire rings and access to potable water. The two RV hookups do not overwhelm the Flint Hills setting with plenty of space for tent campers. Throw in their local knowledge and it fills all your needs. Highly recommend!

Our stay in the yurt was great! We had a ton of rain which flooded the trail to the yurt but Susan came to the rescue in the gator. She introduced us to animals on the farm and let my daughter gather eggs. Lovely place to stay for a quick getaway!
