Camping @ the Horse Farm

After living in the country, I know how peaceful it can be.
 So, being so close to the city and having this space that is secluded and peaceful, it seemed only fair to share it with someone who is interested in the same thing.  
You are welcome to walk the farm and see the animals, please do not feed the animals or enter their stalls or pens without permission and the presence of our staff.

Staff does live on the farm, we do lock gates at night, you can have access to come and go at any time.  If you need gates unlocked, we are just a phone call away.

There are farm animals and wild animals on our sites.

Daniel's 100-yr-old farm

I am proud to be a fourth-generation caretaker of this farm and surrounding acreage.&nbsp; My great-grandfather purchased this land in 1921 and since then, my family has been farming the best way that we knew how.&nbsp; For the last 30 years, that has meant a divergence from traditional farming practices to focus on regenerative farming-- farming that focuses on enriching the health of the soil and&nbsp;the animals instead of depleting it.On our farm, we raise beef, lamb, pigs and chickens&nbsp;and they all live out on pasture.&nbsp; In our farm store we sell meat, eggs, and raw, all-grass dairy products like milk, butter, cheese, kefir, and yogurt.&nbsp; Our customers drive from all parts of central Kansas to shop at Jako Farm because our food is different than food in the grocery store.&nbsp; We call it JakoPure food.Not only do we share our life-giving, gut-restoring food with others, but we want to share the experience of our farm, too.&nbsp; That's why we've started hosting guests on hipcamp so that you can truly experience what's special about our farm.&nbsp; Each location provides a unique perspective on our farm, and you'll engage a different part of our story at each place.&nbsp; But wherever you stake your temporary claim at Jako Farm, we hope you experience the peace and rest that we know and love.Learn more about this land:Jako Farm is&nbsp;a working regenerative farm, and this campsite provides an easy view of all that goes on here.&nbsp;The cows and sheep will graze near by while the chickens scratch in the distance.&nbsp; You'll see the farmers moving the animals to new pasture and the llama playing games with the sheep.&nbsp;&nbsp;If you're up at sunrise, you'll see Ken bringing the cows up to the barn for milking (April through November).&nbsp;&nbsp;Its pretty quiet here, except for the subtle noises of wildlife.&nbsp; (Fair warning:&nbsp;&nbsp;if you're in a tent, you will probably hear the milking machine kick on at 6:30am.)&nbsp; We're also proud to be a smell-free farm&nbsp;because all animals live out on pasture.&nbsp;&nbsp;There are killer sunrises and sunsets here.&nbsp; If you're lucky, you'll also see our&nbsp;resident bald eagle pair soaring through the sky.A bathroom with shower is available for your use in the barn nearby.Please be respectful of farm operations, although we're always open to answering questions if you see us around. Farm Tours are not included with a booking. 

Turner's Quarter

Learn more about this land:Come stay for a night at Turner's Quarter in our quiet country neighborhood. Enjoy access to a large fire pit, free firewood, and a large area for your camping activities. Take in a view of the bright night sky you just cant get in the city. Only 1 minute off the highway and only a quick walk to the main house in case of an urgent need. Perfect spot to stay a night if you're traveling across the state and don't want to stay at a busy campground. There are other houses nearby, but only home you can really see is ours from the site. We are careful to ensure our camper's privacy during their stay!

***We are not allowed to offer tent camping at this time due to Hip Camp's requirement of a toilet. We are working to find a solution that meets Hip Camp's policies.***

Boxcar Family Escape

Climb to the top of a rustic train boxcar and take in the beautiful Kansas country sky. Our peaceful property is a perfect escape while still being only 10 minutes from gas, grocery, and restaurants in Rose Hill. Derby Walmart Supercenter is 20 minutes away, and Wichita proper is just a 25-30 minute drive.29 Mile away you have&nbsp;El Dorado State Park which&nbsp;is a showstopper of family fun! Located in the Flint Hills, this park has an immense wildlife area, over 8,000 acres of water, and 98 miles of shoreline (think beaches and coolers filled with cold beer). While you are here, you can take your boat on this expansive lake to explore it all while you fish for your dinner. Back on the land you’ll be beckoned by picturesque hiking trails, biking trails, and horse trails. There is a wide variety of campsites on the shoreline, offering the perfect vista to see the moon and stars reflected back into the lake. Kansas magic at its best!Meet our friendly indoor/outdoor cats, and maybe even spot a deer in the surrounding fields as you relax around the fire pit. Visitors in June can even harvest fresh mulberries from several trees surrounding the camping area. We commonly see deer, squirrels, rabbits, and a large variety of birds. We've occasionally spotted bald eagles in our surrounding trees.No pets allowed.&nbsp;
