The Hughes Holler camp site is located in the mix grassed prairie of central Kansas. The site was once a homestead of some of the early pioneers of the area. While none of the remnants of the former farmstead remain. The the tranquility of sitting at a campfire on the banks of the pond can let ones mind wonder about what life would have been like living there in days gone by. The site includes a spring fed pond with abundant fishing, predominately white bass. Guests are allowed to keep any fish they wish to eat on site. But please release any others back into the pond. There is a wooded area which provides nice shade for an area to relax from the Kansas summer sun and wind. Campers can also enjoy a camp fire either pond side of underneath the trees. Sleeping accommodations are in a deluxe water proof tent. There are 2 queen air mattress which will comfortably sleep 4 people. There is also a composting toilet on site. Glamping Hosts provide some hot drink mixes, a coffee perculator, pot for boiling water, or making soup, a cooking grate for the fire, some hygiene products. We are working on a solar shower! We are located 2 miles from the Kanopolis Lake wildlife and recreation area. Which includes numerous hiking trails at Horse Thief canyon. As well as 7 miles from historic Marquette with its unique downtown shops and activities: distillery, motorcycle museum, soda fountain shop/homemade ice cream, disc golf course, grocery store, bar and grill and liquor store. Also, located just 15 miles from Little Swedon, Lindsborg, KS. Great shopping and museums, art galleries for you enjoyment!

My great-grandfather purchased this land in 1921 and since then, my family has been farming the best way that we knew how. For the last 30 years, that has meant a divergence from traditional farming practices to focus on regenerative farming-- farming that focuses on enriching the health of the soil and the animals instead of depleting it.On our farm, we raise beef, lamb, pigs and chickens and they all live out on pasture. In our farm store we sell meat, eggs, and raw, all-grass dairy products like milk, butter, cheese, kefir, and yogurt. Our customers drive from all parts of central Kansas to shop at Jako Farm because our food is different than food in the grocery store. We call it JakoPure food.Not only do we share our life-giving, gut-restoring food with others, but we want to share the experience of our farm, too. We needed a safe night in Kansas during a cross country road trip with a dog. Tom’s site was perfect! Never thought Kansas would be so pretty. Tom met us and guided us to the camp spots where we could park our camper. He had already made a fire for us and we cooked dinner over the fire watching the moonrise. Our dog loved running free in the field and gathering sticks while we sat by the fire. It was quiet (except for turkeys in the field), safe for the dog and everything we needed for a great sleep. Absolutely recommend!

Gina is a fantastic host with a just as fantastic glamping experience! She made sure we were well taken care of and comfortable. This is definitely for someone who wants to have a more camp-like experience without having to bring your own tent or sleeping arrangements. Gina provided us with more than enough supplies for our stay and was on top of any requests we had. The lake on site was a beautiful addition to the scenery. I would 100% recommend this stay for any outdoors lovers or those who are looking to experience the outdoors.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. It was much more than we expected. Our host was very accommodating & was kind enough to give us a tour of his planes, which was a special treat for my husband being a pilot. The property is beautiful & quiet. The hosts have and continue to make improvements such as a compost toilet & shower building. There are picnic tables & a beautiful fire ring with firewood provided. We had 2-3 bars of Verizon, which was plenty for us. We only spent 1 night, but this will definitely be on our list to return to, especially with it being so convenient to I-70.

Great experience staying on a working farm. Their food store changed the way i will eat from now on. All grass fed animals and the best cheeses. My only regret is that i didn’t buy more cheese curd. Their store is open 24/7 and is on the honor system for payment. Farmers are the best.

We stayed in the outstanding pink tiny house previously and we will definitely stay at one of Joan's tiny houses next time we pass through Kansas. Close to Hays (and the excellent Gella's diner/brewpub) and the Basilica of St. Fidelis in Victoria.

I loved this Hipcamp. I am a big fan of camping, glamping, and the occasional hotel, but this particular road trip I just need something that was peaceful and put together with minimal effort for me on setting up. I loved this and already shared it with friends and family. I Loved the entire vibe, the location, the bed, and all the accommodations. My absolute favorite was the open lighting and the projector which made for a great scary movie night. Only bummer for me was not having my dogs on the bed, but I set them up on the floor with some of my own blankets and they were more than happy. Loved that there was also a full bathroom and kitchen available as well. Next time I’ll just remember popcorn!
