Fall is finally here. It's so Welcomed - summer was brutal - either 95 degrees/95% humidity or raging storms! So cool temps & beautiful leaves are looking good. NOTE: many weekends are already booked through Oct so get yours booked asap Entry point to western Boone County in Northern Kentucky, neighbor to Cincinnati, Rabbit Hash, Indiana the Ohio River, this 27 acre property marks a geographical change from rolling farmland to steep, forested hillsides. Our end-of-the road, ridgetop property means privacy. Our isolated campsites are surrounded by woods full of turkey, deer, owls, and woodpeckers. Onsite there are wide, easy strolling paths, a growing number of single-track hiking trails, open fields, and forest. And if not booked, a historic log home to explore and do some porch sitting. A great place for solo campers, friends, and families, whether newbies or experienced. Drive-in sites make unloading/loading easy peasey. Standard amenities include privacy - we only book two sites at any time, which are far apart from each other and surrounded by woods. Also, an exceptional outhouse, tables, fire rings, lanterns, Welcome kit (paper, fatwood, lighter, candle). And onsite firewood purchased during booking or while onsite. Site 1 - Open Sky accommodates solo or the group, tents to small campers. It comes with extra amenities: hammock, trampoline, (badminton & cornhole by request). Our beautiful 1800’s cabin was moved to the property in the 1970’s by a former neighbor who owned the property at the time. The same neighbor also had a historic train depot moved to the property where she sold antiques out of for several years. It is not sure what the cabin was used for at that time but it certainly added charm to the antique store property. When we acquired the property years later, the cabin was in need of work. It sat for a few years until we decided to restore this lovely cabin back to it’s beautiful charm and character. Jim spent a couple years on the project working in his free time and added the porch using old wood in keeping with the natural look and feel of the cabin as well as some interior areas. Upon completion, we opened the cabin as a gift shop selling unique items including antiques, primitives and decor for a few years. We decided to transition the cabin into a place of retreat for traveling guests and still keep some of the goods we sold in the shop available for purchase. We hope that you find the cabin and property a place of peace and tranquility and will want to return. Whether passing through for a night or a few days stay, you’re always welcome in our neck of the woods. The site was open with a beautiful view and felt very private. It was well taken care of with a nice electric hook up, bench, fire ring, and picnic bench. There was cut firewood ready. My Subaru Forester made it easily down the path. We had both a spot for shade and sun and we saw a beautiful sunrise/sunset. The stars were incredible. It was really quiet and peaceful with the exception of a barking neighbor dog (obviously not the fault of Handyland). There is a little pond and a gorgeous creek. It’s a 10 min walk maybe, but I was walking with a toddler. I brought a fishing pole and caught some creek chubs. The place is truly lovely. Josh was quick to reply and unobtrusive. My dog was able to run off leash the whole time. At the entrance there is bottled water for sale at $1 each. There’s well water I think but I couldn’t figure it out. I might have missed some directions there. There is also a microwave and little cook top and fridge. I believe that’s available to all the campers. We didn’t end up using it. There’s a little checkboard and table and it’s a cozy little spot if you want to interact with others at all. I’d suggest making it clear that you need your own water unless you want to buy. That’s probably my only recommendation and they may have been my fault. Otherwise, definitely going to be back. No tick or mosquito issues either. Thanks again Josh!

What a great getaway. Awesome spot. You would never know you were so close to any major city. I like the fact that Rabbit Hash is close as well as Big Bone Lick State Park. If you need stuff Kroger isn’t too far away. Plenty of room between sites that add to the privacy. Firewood is available as well. Great place to explore while on property and the “world’s coolest outhouse” is awesome. This site “Henry’s Holler” is a 4x4 only site that is extremely private. I take my single axle trailer down there with a rooftop tent on it. I love this as a getaway from Cincy hustle and bustle. Teri and Mike are great hosts.

The campsites were great, we rented two sites and had the whole place to ourselves. Hosts were great, very responsive and accommodating. Beautiful place to stay, trails were great for kids, cabin was neat to explore, outhouse was better than most. Kids loved the trampoline at the Open Sky site. Great time overall, will be going back again!

We loved camping at this site! I was initially concerned with height and the ability to get a 50 ft combined rig back there. However, everything was super spacious and will maintained. It's a fantastic site. Absolutely beautiful, words do not do it justice. This is probably our favorite of all the Hipcamp sites we have stayed in. Highly recommended!

High and dry. Mostly level site and surrounded by trees. Fire pit and picnic table. Very private. A very short walk to the toilet. A nice Welcome Kit provided. Firewood available. There is an incline at the site entrance. Although there was a light rain, my Kia Telluride had no problems making it up the hill. Teri and Mike were outstanding hosts and had the site ready to go. Communication was excellent. I’ve already made my next reservation for October!

Great place for tent camping and plenty of room to roam. The electric outlet beside our campsite was a nice feature. We enjoyed the hot showers and restroom inside the barn. We already want to camp again here! We ate at Sue’s Lakeside restaurant for breakfast both mornings and highly recommend that too, it’s near the campsites.

We found our new favorite spot! We tent camped in the RV/tent site. It had a beautiful view, was open with lots of places to put a tent, had a wood bench in addition to the picnic table and fire ring, and there was a small clump of trees in the middle so we moved our chairs with the sun to always have shade. The stargazing was awesome. Because it is up on a hill, there was a nice breeze (always good for hot weather camping). It was very private, away from the container/cabin sites. There is an actual flush toilet, sink with running water and hand soap and paper towels near the container/cabin sites. Our dog loves to play in creeks, and this was a nice one. Lastly, the hosts were great - helpful, friendly, and informative while also giving us space. Oh, and there didn’t seem to be too much road traffic noise. We are definitely going back!

20 ft pop-up camper

2 nights at Handyland

We camped with our pop up here and it was perfect! Very clear and flat spot. We needed a short getaway, and handyland was the perfect spot to enjoy some nature and let our dogs run. The walk to the creek was clear and an easy path. The bathroom was also a nice touch as a lot of sites just have a portapotty, it is a little bit of walk to get there but worth it for a shower and a real toilet. Didn’t know Kentucky had some beauty to offer, would love to come back.
