The property is located on Maui island in the Kula district on the drier side of Haleakala. In days before western contact the area was heavily forested with native plants and trees and rainfall was abundant. The native Hawaiian grew bananas, taro and sweet potato. After Western contact businessmen mostly from the United States developed huge tracts of land for ranching and farming which cleared the native forests and destroyed the eco system from the mountain to the sea. Many of the Hawaiian people moved away nearer to the towns and immigrant Chinese laborers from the ranches and plantations moved in. The Chinese brought in the Wattle tree to plant for firewood as these trees grew very fast. These are the majority of the trees that you see today. As part of the Chinese immigration, the founder of modern China, Sun Yat Sen lived here for a time and planned his revolution to overthrow the last Chinese Dynasty. There is a park dedicated to him nearby.We have picnic tables a propane grill, a fire pit and a covered gazebo that is shared with 3 cabins This site is located at the 2800 ft altitude and the temperature at night can range from mid 50 to mid 60 degrees F. If you are planning to go to Haleakala, we are about 45 -60 minutes to the summit. We are also on the south side approach to Hana. There is a great restaurant for breakfast and lunch about 10 minutes away in Keokea town called Grandma's Coffee house.

Beautiful setting for a campsite. Probably one of the more posh hip camp sites I’ve ever stayed at with flush toilets and a great outdoor shower. There are very few places to camp on Maui, and it’s by far the best. Highly recommend for viewing the sunset, and a relaxing stay.

Alika’s land is fantastic! The directions were great and led us straight to the campsite! It is really peaceful and the bathrooms and the shower were good. The view is very pretty at sunrise and sunset. We would definitely stay here again. The evenings are cooler in upcountry so we slept the best the 2 nights we were here. Don’t forget to go to Grandma’s Coffee House. Thank you!

The view is lovely, especially for sunset. There weren’t many others there when we were there, so it was especially nice to be able to eat at the picnic table with a special view. The hot shower in the morning was efficient & felt great. All the facilities were well labeled & explained (nice to have recycling!). Alika and her family were very kind when they came through in the morning.

Our first night in a camper van was spent here. We enjoyed the space to ourselves. The facilities were very well up kept and we enjoyed a nice hot shower in the morning. I would recommend and would return!

This was a great spot! Nice amenities. We grilled some steak and enjoyed the use of the covered picnic tables. We were relieved to have access to showers since we hadn't for 4 days prior. It was rainy and dreary, (but that's not anyone's fault). We could have made use of the lovely fire pit if the weather had been nicer. Directions were clear!

I loved camping at Alika’s place. It was more what I was expecting. Each camping spot has their own bathroom, everything was so clean. I love it. It is a perfect spot is you’re going to the National Park. It’s very convenient! I’ll come back!

I loved campervan camping here!! There was a beautiful sunset happening while I was freshening up in the outdoor shower. Very quiet and peaceful! It was just over an hour to the Haleakalā summit, so I was grateful for the extra sleep before heading to the sunrise!

The location was convenient to HALEAKALA and to Paia where we ate dinner. The shower was a hot and clean. The bathrooms were clean and well kept. The instructions were right on point to find the house and our camp after dark. Thanks for the space.

We so appreciated having access to a flushing toilet and hot shower! Also enjoyed hanging out with the chickens. We chose this location to be closer to the summit at Haleakala. It worked out great for us.

Alika gave us excellent directions to the campsite!! The grounds were very well kept and provided us a safe place to stay! I have no complaints! Just a word of advice to future campers, it can get very cold so make sure you have rated sleeping bags or plenty of layers!!
