Things like poison ivy, seed ticks, chiggers, ants, spiders, snakes, wildlife...Always check with the host on the app before arrival. Arriving when it gets dark will mean you will be setting up in the dark unless you have brought lanterns. If you've booked a site, the gate will be open for you, but you will be on your own. There's no need to drive too far from Little Rock – in fact, you can find a great campsite just across the Arkansas River from P. Allen Smith's famous Moss Mountain farm. This spot is teeming with wildlife, and you may even be able to catch some fish or watch Eagles soar. Stargazing is strongly encouraged here – under a dark sky, the stars appear big and bright.

We are in the country and there are no fences. You may be greeted by neighborhood dogs. We have never experienced any aggression and most of them are happy to get pet by our guests. If they are bothering you, simply provide a stern, "go home" and they usually will leave you be. On the other hand if you pet and feed them they will be your new best friend.
We host on Hipcamp because we love the outdoors. We love traveling across the country, exploring, and experiencing new things. We are fortunate enough to have found our slice of heaven and we're so excited to share it with other travelers from near and far. Batesville Mountain Campground is about "getting away from it all" with nary another soul in sight. If you have qualms about being alone in the woods -- this is NOT the place!!
There are only four campsites on the entire property so you are always out of sight and hearing of any -- you can even upgrade for $10/night and have the entire property all to yourself! It is that special!! And absolutely jaw-dropping beautiful! Sparky, the stone mason who quarried, cut and stacked every rock on every trail within the campground, has created a wondrous place to come camp and explore. We are also now restoring Sparky's original homestead -- the one room Green Cabin is soon to be our new "romantic retreat" with outdoor kitchen and shower, chicken house, and two-hole traditional Swedish "utedass"–or privy. As to where to sleep ... well you may lay your head anywhere -- under the stars, atop a pinnacle, out in a field or sheltered in the woods by the river.
BUT this is "DIY" camping -- as we have day jobs we are unable to cater to your every whim and you will have to be able to "depend on yourself" to negotiate the campground, set up your campsite and secure needed resources. Thus if there is any concern or question you really should stay at one of our other properties either Camp Toasty or Pinnacle Springs Recreational Camp. PLEASE -- we don't want to be bothered with phone calls and text messages -- not here anyway.

Very clean camping spots that are backed up to an awesome creek. You can see the mountain face with a couple of spots where you can get under it Has a nice open spot in the middle of the campground big enough to play football or frisbee. If you want good exercise,walk up the hill a few times 🤣

I'm sure this campground would be great in the summer splashing in the creek, but it was also very nice and peaceful for our family's fall visit.
It was a nice mix having plenty of rugged areas down the hill to explore, and the safe and secure feeling Sparky's Garden area to come back to.
I also loved seeing the rockwork on the trails and terraces. We had a great time and hope to be back.

Extraordinary! One of the most beautiful places we have ever camped. The images can do the talking! The site sits directly next to, and well above, the Arkansas River that - at this point - runs directly West- East giving utterly amazing sunsets and sunrises. Tranquil, with beautiful bird song, friendly dogs, electric and water hook-up, super easy access and lovely host.
A small but “top tip” for future campers arriving after dark. Do trust your GPS when it tells you to turn into Easterwood Point Road, to access Jones Lane, a mile or so after leaving the I40. It looked so dark we hesitated, worrying if it would get us into difficulty, but it’s the right route and can accommodate the biggest rigs.
Anyhow, bottom line, it’s a brilliant rural riverside campsite and sits conveniently between Little Rock and Conway (a gorgeous College Town worth visiting in its own right)

It was my first time tent camping. Was a bit nervous on night one but by night two I was so content. It was beautiful there. I was very thankful that the fire pit came with a griddle already. Ok so back to the first night, I was actually pretty terrified, I was trying to sound tough up above, it was SO dark. The road I had to go down to get to the campsite looked like they wanted me to end it all, but apparently i was just nervous and dramatic. It is steep, it is rocky, DEFINITELY wouldn’t recommend any small cars on that road but it was worth it! The stars were SO beautiful, there were so many, makes me wonder where those stars be hiding at when I look up at the sky at my house🤔 Your camera can not capture the true beauty of that sight so take a mental picture too, and keep it! We were by a creek which was a plus because I love a big body of water. The first night (in my head) it was surely the seen from a horror movie that I survived to be able to tell you that you MUST go experience it for yourself. I finally got to heat up a can of beans on a open fire out in the wood to eat because I was hungry, im not sure if I felt like an accomplished homeless person or the winner of Naked and afraid. Either way it was pretty dope. Oh so if you’re no lumber jack then I suggest you get the bundle of firewood. First night had to fend for myself, It was fun looking for the wood but it was all damp and wouldn’t stay lit. Beautiful scenery, 100/10 recommend, what are you waiting for??

I stayed for my 2nd time in 2 weeks, this weekend. And I plan to go back next weekend, too. It's only about an hour away from home for me, and I enjoy the solitude. Even though this site is fairly close to the road and to someone else's private property, it still is plenty private. It's out in the country, but also only about 15 minutes from food, fuel, and groceries.

I was looking for a cool place to solo camp, and I sure found it! I stayed last night, cancelled another reservation at a different place, and reserved my site here again for an additional night! This place is pretty awesome, and I don't want to leave. But, I'll be back soon! There's plenty to explore here, and the host encouraged me to do so. The hogs on the property are neat, too. Both are friendly. The one with the tusks looks scary, but he's a big ol baby. The creek is amazing! But don't try driving down to it in a regular sedan or if you don't know what you're doing. Ive been down there and back 3 times since yesterday in my Subaru Outback, and even that can be tricky. If you try it in a Corolla or something, you're gonna ruin your own day. I haven't figured out how to operate the shower yet, but it has a tankless water heater on it and I could really use a hot shower. But, I'm fine with stinking. Because I love it here. John has been very responsive and has offered some good suggestions of things to do while I'm here! I'd give it a personal 10/10 if I can get that shower, so for now I'll go a solid 8.5/10. If you're not a big baby, you can camp here just fine!

Our dogs loved getting to meet the neighborhood dogs.
We definitely have this spot bookmarked for when we’re back in the Little Rock area!

This is a great spot, right on the Arkansas River with fantastic views. Very quiet and peaceful. There are a few neighbors nearby that were very quiet the night that we were there but it’s mainly surrounded by farm land and woods. Jason was out of town for our stay but his communication and information were excellent. Highly recommended.

This hidden treasure was an amazing place to stay! The lake was beautiful and had so many fun activities and slides for the kids to play on. Tommy was very helpful and welcoming, I hope we have a chance to make it that way again!

My family and I enjoyed our stay and Indian Lakes. The staff was friendly and really diligent with coming for trash and taking care of the facilities. Our campground was away from other sites and a little more secluded which we enjoyed. The site was all gravel which was not as ideal for our 19-month-old, so I might consider a different site if bringing a toddler. We had a good time overall!

Indian Lake’s is a great place if you’re for a family friendly get away for the weekend. They have plenty of tent camping sites and a cool spot for swimming with a giant slide. I would recommend this for any family that’s wanting a safe spot to camp out.

I enjoyed my 1st Hipcamp experience here. I wanted to camp somewhere else, besides the usual locations & here wasn’t but about another 15 minute drive. The scenery was beautiful & being able to use Jason’s deck, chairs, ect was relaxing. Price is comparable to staying at a state park or Corps of Engineers also. The privacy I had was worth the few $ more. Will definitely camp here again soon.
