We both enjoyed camping at Cactus Forest. The views were wonderful and being able to see the stars. Love the property and it was closed to Casa Grande Ruins National Monument
I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to be close to a historical monument and a Boondocking experience!
We plan to stay here again in another overlanding trip. Thank you to hosts

We enjoyed our stay in the desert at Cactus Forest. It’s in the middle of the desert, and the afternoons are hot, but when we use our camper as shade, the temps were cool and breezy. We enjoyed walking our dog along the dirt road, and didn’t experience any stickers! The evenings are cool, and there is a big sky above…..A perfect spot to stop for the night😍

…so I could give this place four thumbs up.
Here were my needs:
- flat ground
- open space
- dark skies
Outside of that, having never used Hipcamp before, I didn’t know what to hope for or expect. Boy am I glad I chose this place because aside from meeting my basic needs, it was BEAUTIFUL. The sunset and sunrise alone made it worth it. The seeing the saguaro in the morning was otherworldly. Suffice it to say, I’m definitely using Hipcamp again and DEFINITELY staying here next time I’m coming through AZ.

My son and I stopped camp here on a road trip cute place friendly host very cute dogs and cats running around. Pretty close to the host home but they seem welcoming and they try to give you privacy.
I feel like this is a good camp spot for two people, but anymore might start to feel crowded.

Camping here was an absolute joy. The camp host greeted us as we arrived, showed us our beautiful spot and went above and beyond in welcoming us. We came a bit under prepared, however were welcomed with extra hospitality and things that we needed. It felt less like a stranger greeting us onto their land and more like a family welcoming us back after a long day of travel! Would recommend to anyone.

The spot we chose was perfect for a large group, with enough open space to comfortably set up a 10-person tent, a canopy, a 7-person teepee, and a camp privacy shelter. The flat terrain made setup easy, and there was plenty of room for the kids to run around without obstacles.
Wildlife was abundant, with little creatures scurrying about throughout the day. A definite highlight was spotting and hearing a pair of eagles, a rare and awe-inspiring sight. Coyotes were active at night, their yipping adding an eerie but exciting atmosphere to the experience.
Stargazing was nothing short of incredible—the clearest I’ve seen in a long time. With minimal light pollution, the night sky was a breathtaking expanse of stars. The firepit we built added to the ambiance, though it got breezy during the day, making fire management something to keep an eye on.
The landscape was mostly flat with mountains visible in the distance, creating a picturesque backdrop. While the campsite was close enough to Highway 79 to hear some traffic, it wasn’t overly disruptive. The dirt road leading in saw sparse traffic, making it feel peaceful and secluded.
Overall, this was a fantastic dispersed camping experience—beautiful scenery, great wildlife encounters, and an unbeatable night sky. Would definitely return!

This was our first trip boondocking with the new motorhome. Cactus Forest is a beautiful site and was only 30 minutes from the Rennaissance Festival. Easy access and flat ground made set up easy. We were far enough from the road not to hear traffic noise. The star watching was great!

We enjoyed our stay at the Kinsey Farm! Becky and her family were friendly, but also gave us our privacy. They allowed us to have our family over during our stay and have a cookout, which was so nice! Our grandchildren enjoyed meeting all the farm animals. The electric and water hookups were conveniently placed and made our stay very pleasant. We can't wait to visit again!
