You can camp at the campgrounds near the lake, but the mountain sheep herds at the top, plus this view...it's worth the effort to hike up.

The campsite is just to the right of the beach, just beyond some the trees.  That's what you want because the winds coming off Eklutna Glacier is chilly and fast in the afternoons.  While kayaking, it feels like we're sea kayaking!  Fun, but challenging.
