The Gertie Bus is located a 5 min walk to a beautiful white sand beach (at low tide). There are walking trails all around and lots of beach access. Tucked into the front of our property in the quiet of Gabriola island you’ll find the converted Gertie bus with all the amenities you need.
The bus has a gas stovetop/oven, bar fridge and sink with grey water system. Equipped kitchen and sofa area to hang out.
The standard queen bed is great for sleeping in and relaxing with that second cup of coffee.
Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and whale watching are just steps away.
There is beach access across the street through a private park with picnic tables, a very old eagles nest and a private access to a rocky beach perfect for sunsets.
The home itself has a pottery studio on the main floor with a full time studio
Practice. Give Paige a ring if you’d like a tour, she’s usually working away.
Our family lives on the top floor.
Outside the bus is are lush veggie gardens, fruit trees and a nice private outdoor dining area. A BBQ and solar lights also help with evening hangouts.
Family friendly! Also we love animals but we ask that you clean up after your pet and keep any animals that aren’t so great with kids and other animals on leash. We have a dachshund on the property that is friendly and old ( barks at strangers but is all bark I assure you, he just wants to be friends)

One night stay is fine, day visits to THE GLEN welcomed....entry to garage bathroom room, gate next to tool shed through garage personnel door at right of #3 bay garage. Bathroom on left side Bay # 1. Bring your flash light at night.
600 yard path through forest to running stream "the "Path" to "Whinny The Poo's "THE GLEN".....John Howard Society Members admitted free with Children wishing to view THE GLEN.
.....excellent biking , forest bike trails, one site with power site for large Motor Home, exterior bathroom facility. NO HOT TUB

This truly is a hidden gem - we rented both the bus and the tiny home for a family trip. Both are very nicely put together. We made lots of use of the outdoor space for our meals and hanging out to read and relax. We really enjoyed having a beach and walking trails so nearby - it was such an easy thing to spend a couple hours on one beach, come home for lunch, then go explore another spot. The kids definitely want to go back and I couldn't agree more!

Weekend Trip to Island Gertie
We had a very nice 2 nights glamping in the bus. Fairly private set-up on her property with the communal bathroom a short walk away and access to a kitchen sink for washing up. Was delightfully close to a rocky beach where we didn’t see another soul as well as another beach/walking trail. Only con was that the bus was quite hot during our summer stay (no screens on the windows had us balancing cooling it down against mosquitos) but there were fans which helped. Cats were definitely a lovely bonus! Thank you for the cute stay!

Gertie was perfect for me as a single traveller, would have been awesome for 2 as well. I spent most of my time at the beach (just a few min walk up the road), but it was a great home base while I enjoyed Gabe for a couple of days solo.

2 nights at Island Gertie
I really enjoyed this little bus, perfect for solo traveller, very cozy and simple and lovely, I used the bbq and the stove inside was great for tea and coffee and simple things. Used the bathroom and kitchen in main house for clean up, a short walk and vignettes of a living pottery studio make it unique .

This was a nice little oasis away from home. The camper was cozy and had a nice little patio. The dogs were able to roam free and absolutely loved not having to be tied to a leash the entire weekend. The place was a 2 minute walk to a nice long beach. The bathroom was shared and not so clean but I looked at it as if I was camping (glamping) so was happy to have somewhere to shower and use the toilet.

We had such a great weekend, the bus is amazing to stay in and the set up is very very nice!
The animals are super cute and friendly too!
The whole space is great, there is pottery made from the owner in the bus which is super cute
