Find gorge-ous camping in and around the Mount Remarkable National Park.
Roughly halfway between Port Pirie and Port Augusta, Mambray Creek is a locality in the Mount Remarkable National Park. Although it has an insignificantly small population, Mambray Creek’s numbers swell when the simple but large and popular campsite within the national park is full. Cabins are also available, but you can also seek out alternatives on private land around the park. Travellers come to hike and bike the park’s trails through rugged mountains and high-cliffed, red sandstone gorges—many trails are family friendly. The town isn’t far from the sea, but Mambray Creek camping options aren’t by the coast; campers looking for a seaside spot can head to nearby Port Germein. Further bush campsites lie outside the national park’s boundaries, but the area may be inaccessible during fire season, when campsites closed for safety reasons.
