We are between Sequoia National Park (about an hour) and the Giant Sequoia National Monument (16 miles to groves up Hwy 190 and no entrance fee). Choose from individual tent sites, group tent sites, tiny cabins. the 5-acre Compound or the Entire Ranch. We occasionally host small, thoughtful, low impact weddings. Please inquire. There are 33 giant sequoia groves in our Southern Region of the Giant Sequoia National Monument, some easily driven to, and some remote. Our ranch is a nature preserve and an education demonstration site, teaching sustainable and regenerative land use practices. River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public. Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!). Mill Creek Station was originally the place where the mules werechanged out to oxen to go up old Sherwin Grade to the north. MillCreek Road was the old road going to Mammoth and north toReno. It was later a gas station and mini-mart.Learn more about this land:Mill Creek Station Hip Camp parallels Hwy 395, nine miles north of Bishop, half an hour to Mammoth Mountain, an hour from the entrance to Yosemite and two and half hours from Death Valley. Surrounded by world class mountain biking, climbing, hiking, skiing, as well as historic railroad and mining museums. All halfway between Los Angeles and Reno in the eastern Sierra. We have space for three motor homes or RVs. There are no pull throughs so if you are towing a car you may disconnect it and park the car in our parking lot. You must be self contained with water and power. Generators are OK. There is a restroom but there is no shower. We have a hanging fire pit in the backyard behind our house which you may use. Upon request we will open it for you. Wi-fi is available at our residence on the front porch or the backyard .We are 420 friendly but request that cigarette smoking be contained to open areas away from those of us who cannot tolerate cigarette smoke. No Pets please.Our backyard is unique as it was an old stone quarry at one time and now has an outdoor stage for occasional music events which you are invited to attend as well as to explore the rocks. We are at an elevation of 4,500 ft and rarely have snow in the winter. We can provide a long list of climbs, hiking trails, and other adventure sports and scenic exploration. In Bishop the Paiute Casino is 6 miles to the south. Laws Historic Railroad and Mining Museum is 14 miles away. It is open to the public with 11 acres of interesting displays of the old western railroad buildings and artifacts including the huge 20 Mule Team Borax wagons. It is a great place to picnic. We are close to western Nevada’s historic mining towns like Goldfield, Tonopah and Gold Point. Death Valley is 2 ½ hours away. This space is at the top of the property. It has a nice level area to park up to a 28' trailer or camper. Water and 30 amp power at site. EV charging is not allowed. Large multi level paver patio and campground style grill. There is a level area for Cornhole or Bocce ball. Fire pit and wood available when fire danger is not imminent. 23' Airstream may be available for rent as well at an additional cost. Airstream is 2 people max. Pets are welcome but unfortunately we cannot allow pets in the airstream. There is also a large fenced dog run for your pet to play and hang out. No on site dump or restrooms. Any human wast must be contained and hauled out by campers.

Welcome HipCampers! This area was once inhabited by local native American Tribes. In the 1840's prospectors arrived in search of gold but none was found in the immediate area. Old Yosemite Base camp was along the route into Yosemite National Park prior to the construction of Highway 41. Horse and Carriage traveled along Old Yosemite Road from Mariposa and the entire golden state. Visitors from the world now pass through Oakhurst to Yosemite National Park along this route. Old Yosemite Base Camp is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset and stargaze next to a campfire after an adventurous day in the southern Yosemite region. Yosemite tent camping without all the crowds and tour buses is what you can expect. Backing up to the Sierra National Forest OYBC is conveniently located near HWY 41 just 14 miles from Yosemite’s south gate entrance. Nice little campground that was perfect weather and not too busy in late September. The sites are tiered so most of them are overlooking the lake. There is a hiking trail that loops around the lake that we didn't get to try, but definitely will be back. It's perfect because it's right outside of the east entrance to Yosemite.

This is some easily accessible, High Sierra goodness. Lots of stocked trout in the lake and the creek, which runs through the campground. Some beautiful sites situated along the creek. A good portion of the sites don't offer much shade. The lake itself is gorgeous. The water is that otherworldly aquamarine, and it's all situated at the bottom of a scenic glacial moraine. Nice trail if you want an easy, but beautiful hike around the lake. You also have access to the Convict Lake Backcountry if you really want to push it, or spend a few days backpacking. Come here in late September and early October when the aspens come afire with the colors of fall -- if you can snag a campsite.

Epic views of Convict Lake from this campground. We like wide camping sites with open space behind them so we choose site 22. There's no tree coverage in this area, but that allows for unobstructed views of the mountains and lake. Look between sites 60 - 80 to be in the trees and by the creek. Probably the most gorgeous scenery I've seen from the tent!

We camped at Convict Lake in August and the temperature difference between day and night was impressive. Don't hesitate to wear warm clothes for the night, although morning becomes hot very fast. Overall, this is such a relaxing place to camp! Also, there is a convenient little store at the Resort. You'll pass in front of it while driving to the campground. They do breakfast burritos, and they do it well.
