Just like the large bovine the campground’s named after, Buffalo Crossing Campground is an expansive, large string of campsites, lining quite a bit of the Black River. Each site is just a few steps from the river’s banks, and the area’s known to be well-shaded by towering verdure and dense foliage. But, like many of the other campgrounds in the area, Buffalo Crossing Campground sites are all on a first-come, first-served basis—so make sure to make the trek out there in a timely manner.

There is good cell service with all 3 major carriers and limited WiFi is also available. There is sometimes potable water available but in a limited amount. There is firewood available and plenty of rock to make fire rings. We are a dark sky property for stargazing and astrophotography. Plenty of places to hike and explore. 3.6 miles from the paved highway, Hwy 61. 22 miles from Show Low and 45 miles from the Petrified Forest. Many White Mountain sightseeing options in the area.

This Dark Sky Sanctuary features unobstructed, awe-inspiring 360-degree views of the heavens. There are minimal amenities here, but they include telescope pads – made of concrete so that you can setup your own telescopes for casual or focused study.
