At Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, nestled in the glorious chaparral of the Mayacama Mountain Range and Sonoma Hills, deep in the heart of wine country, we have two lovely glamping set-ups. In our family friendly campground, we chose two of our best sites and installed luxury Shelter brand canvas tents, replete with warm and cozy furnishings, firewood, and other amenities you will love.
NOTE: Bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets) is not included in a standard rental, but is available as an add-on. Guests are encouraged to bring their own bedding whenever possible. If you do not add bedding, or specify other options, we will assume a one queen setup with mattress covers only.
Site 1 (Campsite 13/14 on the campground map): 6-Person Shelter Canvas Luxury Tent: $125 per night. We have consolidated two creek-side sites (13 and 14) to create one amazing glamping site perfect for a very comfortable getaway for a couple or family. Close to the bathhouse with large, hot shower rooms, this canvas tent features a queen-sized memory foam bed, rugs, lounge furnishings, light, heat, complimentary firewood, and possibly a optional power connection. Upon request, we can provide up to three twin beds inside this tent in addition to the queen. The site has two fire rings, outdoor seating, and plenty of room for your additional tents if desired. There is a $25 setup/breakdown/cleaning fee for this rental. NOTE: Please specify your desired setup for this tent by using the extras feature on this site. e.g. If you would like two additional twin beds setup inside the tent (at no extra charge), please add them to your booking! If no "extras" are selected we will assume the queen only setup.
Luxury tent furnishings (included): Memory foam queen bed, twin cots/lounge chairs, tables, chairs, rugs, lamp, heating, optional power, and firewood. Free WiFi is available at the Visitor Center.
Pets are welcome in the campgrounds, but are not allowed inside the luxury tents. If you plan to bring your pet, please ensure you have accommodations for them outside the tents. You will be charged a cleaning fee for violation of this policy.
Site 2: (Campsite 15 on the campground map): 6-Person Shelter Canvas Luxury Tent: $125 per night, or $215 a night for both tents on this site. The large main tent boasts an extremely comfortable memory foam queen bed, rugs, lounge chairs, heating, lighting, and complimentary firewood (up to three bundles per night). Up to three additional twin beds can be accommodated in this main tent upon request, for no additional fee. The campsite also includes outdoor seating, including Adirondack chairs, picnic tables, fire rings, and additional seating. Located in the partially shaded, partially sunny site 15, which backs up to the creek and overlooks a large deer-friendly meadow. Glorious sunrises and stargazing galore!
Luxury tent furnishings (included with the main tent): Memory foam queen bed, lounges that convert to twin beds, tables, chairs, rugs, lamp, heating (seasonal), and firewood.
This site (15) also hosts a slightly smaller 4-Person Shelter Canvas annex tent, perfect for teenagers, kids, or another couple joining the party. Our annex tent can accommodate up to four twin bed setups or can also be arranged as a sheltered extra lounge/living room area. The annex tent can be rented along with the main tent or separately for $90 per night. If you do not use the annex tent, you will not be charged for it.
We recommend this site for families or small groups who would like an additional room for kids, single adults, etc. You do not have to book the annex tent as well, but it will be set up in your site whether you book it or not. Many choose to book this as an additional living room area if not needed for kids/teenagers. There is also plenty of room to set up your own tents, in addition to the glamping tents, which we recommend if you have larger parties or pets.
NOTE: Please specify your desired setup for this tent by using the extras feature on this site. e.g. If you would like two additional twin beds setup inside the tent (at no extra charge), please add them to your booking! If no "extras" are selected we will assume the queen only, no bedding setup.
Both glamping sites are easy walking distance to bathhouses, with large, clean, hot shower rooms. Each site also has a dedicated personal porta potty for your exclusive use. Porta potties are cleaned and sanitized before your arrival and again after departure. Showers are cleaned and sanitized up to three times a day.
Your reservation includes parking for one vehicle. There is an additional $10 per night per vehicle charge for more than one vehicle, which you can pay for at the Visitor's Center upon check-in. Each site has room for 3-4 cars.

Great family experience!
The camp hosts were wonderful!! A real family environment, great place to take the kids out! Plenty of kids riding by on bikes, if you're looking for quiet maybe try the other glamping site as it is set back a bit more, but with kids it was great. The tent was awesome, the host who set it up really went above and beyond with luxuries such as side tables with power outlets, a heater, comfy rugs and throw pillows on our memory foam mattresses, and she even took the time to give us a quick tour. Pretty cold nights in April, so the heater was a life saver!! Looking forward to our next trip!
Just the right level of luxury
This is inside a state park and operated by a volunteer group, and it was awesome! This was such a great way for my city bound family to experience nature and the outdoors. The perfect, accessible, and comfortable way for people like us who are not camping pros
We enjoyed our glamping experience and plan to go back. We stayed at site 13+14, which received adequate sun and shade during the day as well as great sun in the afternoon. There is a creek that flows alongside the campsite and the frogs can be heard most of the night. Each campsite has its own port-a-potty so you don't have to walk far to use the bathroom. Using the public bathroom, except for showering, is discouraged due to COVID.
Sugarloaf has ample trails, meadows teeming with wildflowers, guided stargazing, a waterfall, a creek with newts and tadpoles. It's a great place to enjoy nature. There's even a camp store with many convenient items in case you forget something at home. And best of all, you're in wine country and just a short drive away from some stellar selections.
It was very convenient to have everything setup prior to arriving. There was electricity, a very comfortable queen bed (we have a tempurpedic at home), a heater, a twin bed, two sitting chairs, rugs and outdoors there was 2 picnic tables, firewood, 2 fire pits, and 2 large adirondack chairs with foot rests. We brought our camp stove, food, bedding, and clothes, although the hosts seem prepared to provide everything except food and clothing. If you plan to use the heater, turn it on before the sun goes down so that you're maintaining the heat rather trying to heat the tent after it's already cold.
This would be a great place for a group because people wanting a full camping experience could get it and people not so comfortable or ready to camp can just glamp. It's also a suitable location for families given that there's so much space to run, play, ride bikes and scooters. There are also some easy entries to the creek for water play.
A lovely getaway to remember my dad
This was an awesome time at a lovely park. The folks who checked us in were so friendly...even came to check us on later and at check out to make sure we had a good time. We had plenty of firewood and the tent was clean and spacious. Love that a lantern was provided.
There were so many hiking trails (we went to the waterfall) and the icing on the cake is that it's literally 2 miles from wineries in Kenwood so you can enjoy a wine tasting before or after. Lots of friendly families and dog friendly to boot.
Minimal bugs outside to content with and we saw lots of cool birds, lizards, and even turkeys! Due to covid they are providing portapotties for every camp site. The one provided for us was very clean. It's a little odd to look down the row of campsites and see so many in a row but whatever, covid life! At least you're outside and can see the stars at night.
Only downside was that we weren't aware the heater required us to bring our own propane canister to use. They normally sell them at the store where you check in but there is some kind of propane shortage and they were all out. It was freezing cold in the tent (April) without the heat, but we pulled our little one out of her crib, put her in several layers and into bed with us and had a cozy night. Make sure to pack layers!
Will definitely return to this camp and this tent!
Comfy site in creek-side campground
Large comfy tent with nice blankets and sheets. Fires allowed! (at least when we were here in May). It's in the middle of a public camp site (Sugarloaf) and has a fair bit of privacy from the other sites there. The campsite is along a creek with many nice areas for kids to play in and look for frogs.
