We stayed 4 days at the New Mendocino Campground on the second weekend they opened for the season. They had a few bumps to still figure out (we got our fire ring on the second night, had to bring over a picnic table to our site, for example), but overall it was a totally magical experience and we would love to go back. The beds are super comfortable and there are lots of extra blankets which was good, as it gets quite chilly. Remember to put stuff away at night, as it gets thick blankets of fog overnight. We figured that out the first morning when the stuff we left out was all wet.

They have a few really thoughtful touches that were much appreciated like hot water and filtered water available near the restrooms at all times, hot water bottles to tuck in the bed at night and a small breakfast delivered each morning to our porch along with hot water for the provided coffee or tea. The bathrooms and showers were impeccable with wonderful smelling soaps, motion sensored lights, mirrors (you don't often see those camping), a place to charge your phone and HOT water. :) One of the best camping showers I've ever had.

Teresa and the folks she has working there were all super sweet and helpful in getting us whatever we needed. Firewood was delivered to our site each day, which was also a nice perk. Go visit! You won't regret it.

The lady and pup chilling before dinner.Gorgeous bathrooms with heavenly smelling soap. The white tile can get a bit muddy, but they do a good job keeping it mopped and the penny tile is so adorable. Can't wait to get back here. Downtown Mendocino is super charming with lots of coffee shops, art and knick knacks. Stanford Inn is closeby too, with amazing vegan food at their restaurant.Pretty much sleeping in a Sunset magazine article. #heaven

We absolutely loved our two nights here! Right as we arrived we were greeted and given a personal tour of the campground. Bathrooms were clean, showers were hot, the bed was cozy, and breakfast was delivered to the deck in an adorable basket each morning. If you don't mind a little bit of dirt or wrapping up in lots of blankets to stay warm in the foggy Mendocino nights, its a perfect alternative to all the dowdy inns nearby. We can't wait to come back!

Canoeing Big River was definitely a highlight of the trip. Located less than a mile away from the campground.Just as gorgeous in real life as it is on the website!

My 12 year-old daughter and I had a wonderful time at hip camp last week. Teresa and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The campsite was beautiful, the tent spacious and comfortable and there was even hot water for coffee in the morning and tea all day long (no need for all the supplies we had brought with us). One of my daughter's favorite things was the "surprise" basket, filled with breakfast goodies brought to our tent each morning. During the day we hung out on our deck, walked down to the water, or drove to the beach or into Mendocino to explore. We had a fabulous time and intend to make it our yearly mom-daughter adventure from now on. Thank you!

This place is great and relaxing. We spent 3 nights and could have stayed longer. Each morning they supplied a really great continental breakfast and gourmet coffee. It was the best ever. The tents and bed were immaculate with sheets and blankets. Each camp has its own fire ring with plenty of free wood, gas burning BBQ and picnic table. The tents are spread out so that you don't feel that you're being cramped. The showers and bathrooms are also immaculate with supplied towels, wash clothes, soap and shampoo. The people that run the place were fantastic. (Hello to Teresa and Marny). The town of Mendocino has 7 or 8 restaurants and a very well stocked grocery store. We will defiantly be going back next year.

Had a wonderful time. It was truly someplace I will be returning to. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The tents nice and comfy along with the private fire pits, wood and started included. Bbq was provided for cooking along with utensils. The bathroom was nice with plush towels and great soap. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

The Classic Tent is one option at the Mendocino Grove campground. There are larger family tents plus 'pitch your own tent' sites.

The classic tents are spacious and the beds comfortable with adequate coverings to keep warm on cold evenings. Each tent porch has two leather covered chairs.

Be advised that tents are placed in groupings with a common fire pit and gas grills. We were in the Comptche site which had six tents. While our tent #C4 had it's own fire pit the other five tents shared a common firepit. We certainly enjoyed the privacy of our own fire and if this is important to you be sure to request a site with it's own firepit.

The main bath room has four unisex private showers which were very clean. The restrooms had bath towels and facial cloths. There was a portable bath house by our campsite which we used and was quite nice although you had to get a towel from the main bathroom if you didn't bring your own.

The town of Mendocino is very quaint and the nearby Mendocino Headlands-Big River state park offer great hiking and boating opportunities.

Great location! Unfortunately, it was not nearly as private as I and my wife expected, but we probably should have expected that. Beautiful campsite, but it was not as much "glamping" as we expected, and most of the campers around us seemed far more prepared. We enjoyed sitting around our fire for one night, but ended up leaving a day early. Overall, I had a good time, but make sure you go in with your eyes open or you might come away disappointed.

The camp was quiet, my campsite was beautiful both inside and out. The bed was comfortable and the continental breakfast was a really nice touch. Theresa was very welcoming and the camp staff helpful. Would absolutely go back.
