If you love the outdoors, our authentic yurts, off grid A-Frame, and improved campsites have it all. This peaceful mountain is located in Cullowhee, North Carolina, on a 108-acre eco-forestry private reserve. Nestled up to 2 national forests, in The Land of 150 Waterfalls, local activities are abundant. Our outdoor experience offers complete, private access to guests only, with fishing, tubing, kayaking, and hiking activities on the property. A rugged 9-hole disc golf trail encourages exploration of your private mountain. Our yurts and A-frame site provide large fire pits, exquisite views from their ample porches, hugging you with a warm, peaceful welcome home from a day full of activities. Our yurts are nicely appointed with a queen-size bed, mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. The detached 144 sq ft shared bath house provides all the facilities, as well as towels and basic bathing necessities for yurt stays only. Lie on the heated mattress pad with soft linens and watch the stars sail across the clear dome as you drift off to sleep to dream of the day's adventures. Nestled up to the Great Smoky Mountains National park, this property is unique in everything it offers. Riverside on the renowned fly fishing river, the Tuckasegee River, or ridge top on Cullowhee Mountain, elevation 3850'. There are improved camp sites, yurts, or free range camping and hiking. The views are spectacular, wherever you decide to locate on the property. We implement " Leave no trace" rules and welcome respectful 4wd access to the entire mountain. This particular campsite is ridge top with exquisite views. When booked, it is exclusively yours with enough space for 3 vehicles (4WD or very capable AWD ONLY) or a 1/2 mile hike. Responsible ATV use can requested. Leave no trace primitive camping. Complete seclusion on one of highest peaks in the area. Additionally, when you book this site, there are 5 miles of hiking/ biking trails that run from the ridge down to the beautiful trout river, the Tuckaseegee. This primitive campsite is located on the beautiful trout river, the Tucaseegee River. AWD or very sure footed vehicles are recommended. This site will accommodate up to 3 vehicles and multiple tent or truck camping. The site is exclusively yours when booked and very secluded. A large fire pit and cooking grate as well a a prep table are provided. Fish, swim, or float the Tuck. Let the mountain river sing you to sleep each night after lounging in it's lush beauty. There are over 5 miles of exclusive hiking trails. It is truly a one of a kind experience. Respectful ATV can be requested. The beautiful college town of Cullowhee/ Sylva NC offers close proximity to wonderful restaurants, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and is known as The land of 150 waterfalls! Mountain biking trails of up to 40 miles are within minutes away! Destination Outdoors! DO IT!

Perched along a premier fly fishing river (Tuckasegee River) , The Outside Inn sleeps 3, with lots of space for tent camping for additional guests. It features a twin mattress bunk and 2 hammocks indoors. Solar power provides lighting and charging ports and a pristine mountain spring supplies non-potable water. A guest maintained outhouse and 2 fire pits make this site a must stay. The gas grill adds to the near glamping amenities! A perfect site for trout fishing groups, an unplugged retreat for 2, or family gatherings !! DO it at Destination Outdoors

My husband and I stayed two nights in the Summerset Yurt. It was so cozy and cute. Matt was a responsive and helpful host. We loved that we had a microwave and fridge. There was also two heaters. Bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room for everything we needed. I was amazed at how nice the outhouse was! It was heated, nice open shower, sink/toilet! No complaints. There is some road noise as this location is close to the highway, but it in no way took away from the coziness of the yurt! We’ll absolutely be back!

Incredible stay at Matt’s A-frame along the Tuck river. Extra though went in to the small amenities provided plus a very responsive host. The site was ideal for fishing, relaxation, and convenience.

Stayed for a long weekend with friends. We had the Summerset yurt and Holly Hideaway. Both were close enough to be good as a group, but also had privacy from each other. The Summerset yurt has a nice big grassy area to pitch a couple tents and also a fire pit and a couple picnic tables, outdoor gas grill, and prep table. Great host who checked in on us a few times. Bath house was large, clean, warm and had a great shower. We loved this place. Private playground!

Holly Hideaway Yurt
My daughter and I had a great stay at Holly Hideaway while visiting a friend at Western Carolina U. The yurt was a 5 minute drive to the campus, very clean, great views and nice bath house steps away. We cooked dinner on the grill on our deck, had a great nights sleep in a very comfy bed and a lovely morning hike around the property. Will def stay here again.

We arrived at little late and tired. Matt was wonderful, got us all squared away. The light was on, it was so welcoming and cozy. We hiked down to the river and fished. Grilled steaks, watch the sunset glow thru the trees. The yurt was so cool. I loved that we chose this place over a hotel. Best Glamping with a river, disk golf course to the river, hammocks in cool spots on the property. The beautiful hike and so peaceful. Great camping bathroom with a big shower. Great host, provisions, instructions were great, comfortable space, great parking.Nice way to unplug and be relaxed. Can't wait to visit again

We had such a great stay! The property was beautiful, peaceful, and felt very private, which was exactly what we were looking for. There was plenty of space for us and our dogs to relax and enjoy being outside, and the location was perfect for exploring the surrounding area while still feeling tucked away in the mountains. Matt was a great host and everything was easy from arrival to checkout. We’d absolutely stay here again!

We had an amazing stay at Matt’s yurt! Matt’s communication was incredible, and the yurt itself was simply amazing—clean, comfortable, and surrounded by a beautiful view that we enjoyed from the spacious deck. The bathhouse is conveniently located nearby and was quite possibly the nicest, cleanest campground bathroom I have ever experienced! We truly did not want to leave and cannot wait to come back. Thanks for everything, Matt!

I really enjoyed staying at this location. It’s quiet and isolated, but close enough to the nearest town to make a 20 minute grocery run. The owner, Matt, is an excellent host. The nearby river is also great for fishing or just hanging out! Can’t recommend this place enough!

What a beautiful oasis the Holly Hideaway was, my goodness. Fresh crisp potable water, a clean bathhouse with anything you’d need, being surrounded by trees when reading on the balcony, all things that stuck out to me. The land is so vast and peaceful. Matt is beyond attentive and helpful as a host. Coming back to the site after a long day of hiking and swimming in nearby waterfalls was so refreshing. Not to mention hearing the rain at night on the rooftop. I would 10/10 recommend this property and plan to return!

Such a beautiful camp site right by the river! A very easy load in and out as the campsite was steps away from parking. The sound of the river drowns out any road noise you might hear. I can’t wait to visit again!

Perfect river therapy!
The Outside Inn
I had such a relaxing time! I stayed for just a couple of days. The hammocks are standard and there is a small mattress too. There is electricity by solar power and we didn’t have any issues with it at all. Make sure to bundle up to at night, of course! You meet Matt at the start of the establishment and he’ll take you to the site. There is a nice bathroom at the start with ventilation, very clean, had a shower with shampoo, conditioner, body wash. Perfect spot for river therapy and relax! I set up my own hammock by the water, explored the grounds and found a staircase that leads to a flat area with river access and a picnic table. Area is pretty shaded so it felt really nice! There is a bridge and neighborhood nearby which I think you see from the posting anyways. Overall great experience! Thank you!

We enjoyed our stay in the yurt on Matt’s land. We walked down to the river and up to a view at 3000+ ft-all on the property. Beautiful! ! The bathroom is clean. The yurt was comfortable. There was plenty of room for tents on the site. Matt was responsive, kind and helpful. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful land with river access. Lots of space for tents. If you want to set up near the river there's plenty of space but be prepared to carry your gear.down a flight of stairs. Matt was nice and notified us of a possible storm. Bring earplugs as the road noise is pretty loud. The river and the river access were my favorite.

Beautiful tent camping right on the river. Excellent unplug from the world and very secluded. Matt’s dog Ash is an absolute treat to play with as you unwind on the river. Would definitely recommend 4wd or AWD vehicle for exploring all the property.

Great location. Great stay. Amazing Trail leading to the camp site. A little more bugs here being the vegetation is a bit tighter; but if it's hot, you would wish for a shaded location. So have to weight it out. HOST is very nice, made sure we were comfortable. Awsome guy. I do recommend.

I absolutely loved camping on Matt’s property! He was very kind, responsive, and informative with absolutely everything. I definitely see myself returning frequently for the beautiful views and the serene privacy. Highly recommend!! The information is not lying when they say you need a sure-footed car or something of the AWD sort, so keep that in mind when visiting!
