Glamping pods on a quiet camping and caravan park in the Cornish countryside

Book yourself in at Polborder Glamping and you’ll have nabbed a glamping pod in glorious Cornish countryside. These two timber pods are part of Looe Country Park, a caravan and camping site a couple of miles from Cornwall’s south coast. And there are plenty of reasons to recommend the place. The neat pods are one; the immaculate facilities, great location and consistently lovely staff are others. And then there’s also the good reputation that this independently-owned site has been building for upwards of 50 years.

Looe Country Park is small and peaceful, welcoming just 20 touring caravans or tents at a time alongside five statics and, of course, the two pods. The pods represent a great-value way to stay for a couple or a family of three – and dogs are welcome too. You’ll need to bring your own sheets, duvet and pillows – but everything else is here. It has a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. It’s even got a TV. It’s glamping, for sure, but has a firm focus on function over fashion. The solid roof keeps you dry, the heater keeps you warm but there’s little by way of unnecessary decoration. It’s yours to personalise – or not. You may find you don't have time as we predict you'll be out exploring every day.

This location, just under three miles from Looe, makes that easy. It's about a mile from the South West Coast Path and has plenty of beaches nearby. Choose Millendreath sands for somewhere that’s family friendly, Seaton if you want a swim and Hannafore if you’re taking the dog. There's seafood and Cornish fishing traditions at Looe harbour, adventure at Adrenalin Quarry and a monkey sanctuary down the road. Incredibly, all this is within five miles of your neat little glamping pod at Looe Country Park.

Glamping pod · Sleeps 3
Our Pods can accommodate 2 adults and 1 small child. There are 2 of these pods alongside each other. They are located away from the main entrance backing onto fields and near the small children play area, which is not usually busy. You can park your car by the pod and additional parking is available on the site grounds for an extra car. Pods have a small private deck with outdoor seating and table. Inside there is a dining table and bench seats which convert to a double bed. There is also a small kitchenette with fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave, cups, glasses, plates, some cooking utensils, an electric outlet with heater and TV. Bring a fan if you get hot. You will need to BRING YOUR OWN bedding; we suggest sheets, a duvet or sleeping bag, pillows and pillow cases and take extras that you would use if bringing an infant or dog. Pack camping extras such as chopping board and chopping knives and barbeque. You can dispose of BBQ coals in a bin provided by the recycling waste. If you want to purchase food and cleaning supplies, we have them in the on-site shop. There is also a farm shop within 5 minutes drive and a local Spar, Londis and Co-op in Looe. The staff at the site can help you with directions. For those of you who want to utilise taxis whilst on your break, we have a list of taxi company telephone numbers on a sheet at reception for you to photograph. For walkers and cyclists, you can access the South West Coastal Path through the campsite. Head out onto the lane adjacent to the site and either turn right for Milleandreath beach leading to Looe and Polperro across the coast or turn left and head towards Seaton and Downderry villages; consisting of wonderful long spacious beaches, beach cafes, pubs and ocean views for eating and drinking. Seaton Beach often has a lifeguard on if you like to swim in the sea and want some reassurance to feel a bit safer.. We would advise that you use a tow float when sea swimming and know the tides and currents on the day. If you like to kayak or are used to a paddleboard, Millpool might be an area to consider launching from and parking your car for the day at Millpool carpark. The Looe River is tidal so you can prepare for high and low tides. Ask at the office for other things to do; happy to help you

We are Polborder Holidays and Looe Country Park. The site overall takes guests with tents, campervans and touring. We also offer two comfortable, warm pods with all the fun and excitement of camping in a well-run park. The park has a barrier for safety access and separate shower blocks for male and female. A small shop has basics such as bread, milk, croissants, snacks and ice cream. We also have camping and kitchen cleaning and some items for children. If you like reading, you can take a book from the shelves in the office or a game or jigsaw to do. We have 2 pods, each supplied with its own crockery, plates, glasses, microwave, kettle and toaster. You can take advantage of the fridge and take your favourite foods with you. Read more details about each in the units section. We do not sell alcohol so bring your own too. If you have a dog, you can take their bed with you. The pods are ideal for two people. However, if you want to take an extra guest, let us know and we can provide a futon. If you venture out of the site, you have plenty to do as we are nestled between Looe and Downderry beaches and a 15 minute walk downhill to Milleandreath Beach. The site is high up and overlooks the Cornish countryside. It is quiet and peaceful and ideal for you to just arrive, relax and revive. For the healthy conscious there are walking trails, swimming, kayaking, cycling or running routes. There are beaches on either side of the park within driving distance and walking plus we are surrounded by lots of places to eat and drink within the nearby towns. The Rame Pensula is a stunning part of the coast if you fancy a clifftop breakfast and walk down to the sandy quiet beaches of Cawsand, Port Wrinkle and Treathy to the East of the site. There are lots of historical and English national heritage sites if you like to take off for the day to explore. Looe offers fishing trips, boat trips to see the seals and other excursions. You can check these out before you arrive and ask as reception when you are here if you need more insight. As Looe Country Park is quiet, we do not sell alcohol, so bring your own if you fancy a drink on the decking. We like to have quiet time after 10pm so please consider other guests. Have a wonderful stay and arrive, relax, revive.
Nearby attractions

Polborder Glamping pods are based on Looe Country Park Caravan and Camping Park. It’s just under three miles outside the seaside town of Looe with its harbour, little banjo-shaped pier and beaches. East Looe beach is protected by the pier with sandy patches at low tide. You can join glass-bottomed boat tours, browse the shops and eateries or head out on walks on the South West Coast Path from here. A popular route is the five mile walk west to the idyllic fishing village of Polperro. Alternatively, you can drive there from site in about 15 minutes. There’s no shortage of beaches to visit in the area: Millendreath (which is walkable from site in about 30 minutes), Seaton, Downderry, Hannafore and Talland; all within five miles of site. Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary is one of the closest family-friendly attractions to the site, less than two miles away with Adrenalin Quarry a close second. It’s four miles from the campsite and has lots of adventurous activities for all ages from an aquapark to zip wires and a cliff-top swing. The edge of Bodmin Moor is 10 miles north of site with Golitha Falls a good place to head for in hot weather with its cascades and woodland walks. It’s not far from Siblyback Lake where there are opportunities for watersports. The Eden Project is 25 miles away.

Food and drink

There’s a little on-site shop with milk, bread and other basics for sale. For more than that, head up the road to New Bindown Stores in the village where there’s a small grocery store. There are more convenience stores in Looe (just under three miles) as well as independents including Pengelly’s on the harbourside where you can buy just-caught local fish and seafood. The closest place to eat out is Coddy Shack, a seafood and steak restaurant in the rustic surroundings of a farm between the campsite and Looe itself. There are plenty of eateries in the town – ask on site for the latest recommendations. Outside of Looe, the Inn on the Shore at Downderry is a favourite serving a good menu of pub classics and bistro-style meals overlooking the beach.
