Glampers, campers, children, couples, dogs and groups of camping buddies are all welcome. With pitches among tussocky grasses, views of Ely Cathedral, riverside trails, culture enthusiasts, and children will find plenty to keep them entertained. All within 3 miles leisurely stroll from the Meadow, there is Oliver Cromwells House, Ely Museum, the Jubilee gardens, Riverside antiques and historic walks. Whether you are seeking a comfortable rustic glamping experience or a more traditional camping escape, we offer something for everyone. 

Our glamping accommodation provides a unique blend of comfort and adventure, with beautifully appointed spaces nestled among the tranquillity of our natural surroundings.

For wild campers, spacious private pitches make sure you can relax without feeling crowded. Each comes complete with its own fire pit and amazing views. Excellent facilities, including large shower rooms and a cosy reception will keep you refreshed and ready to explore.

The Cabin of Hearts is a favourite among couples for a cosy romantic break all year, whilst the Timber Tents are comfortable and cosy for families and friends from April - November.

For campers, spacious private pitches make sure you can relax without feeling crowded. Each comes complete with its own fire pit and amazing views. Excellent facilities, including large shower rooms and a cosy reception will keep you refreshed and ready to explore. Reconnect with nature, unwind under starry skies, and leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Colourful wheelbarrows can be used to cart all of your items to the pitch you have chosen. Pitches are approximately 9 - 12m diameter. We offer a number of grass pitches that are suitable for caravans, motorhomes, tents and folding caravans. We have onsite toilets, showers, a shared fridge/freezer, solar charging points are located behind reception. We have sockets for hairdryers in the wash facilities and a shed with 2 washing up sinks. There is a small play area with a playhouse, slide and small tables for younger children. We also have den building supplies and open grass area for ball games and kite flying. Your first car is included in the price, but if you want to bring an additional car it is £2 per night. Fire logs & Kindling bundles are £10.00 per tray. We allow dogs, but only 2 per pitch. Please clear up after them!

Our cosy cabin sleeps two people, equipped with one king size bed. Includes all bedding, cosy throws, cutlery, table, chairs, small stove, saucepans, BBQ and welcome pack of Freshly ground coffee/ fair-trade tea/ Organic milk.  Ensuite facilities and a log burning stove. One tray of wood for the stove and fire pit is included in the price. Additional logs can be purchased onsite. Dogs are an additional £10 per night, but must not go on the bed. A cosy dog bed is provided and a bowl.

We had such a fun time. Claire (our host) was lovely and made us feel incredibly welcome. We didn't bring anything to sit on (as we had taken public transport) and she was kind enough to lend us some benches for us to use on our patch. She ensured that our wood was kept dry for our campfire and that she was within reach should we need anything. We would definitely return again. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Just the one solo night at Hatters testing out some new equipment. Beautiful and well maintained campsite with a friendly owner Claire, who left me to myself. Non electric pitch.

Great campsite. Lovely site wardens, site and facilities were all very clean and wrll thought out. Friday night pizza was a lovely treat and very tasty. Would deffinetly stay again.

This was a fantastic campsite. I loved that it was a small site (not far to trek to the loo) but the tall grass between each pitch made you feel like you had some privacy. The toilets/showers were some of the best I've used on a campsite. Lesley and Bob were super helpful, we appreciated the tour when we arrived and knowing there was a reception hut if we needed anything. The pizzas were also a nice treat. Thanks so much for a terrific stay!

So pretty with pitches within the wildflower meadow. Best bathrooms we’ve had camping. Very close to Ely, so great location too. Amazing value and very helpful staff

What a beautiful campsite! Absolutely loved the meadow vibe and views across to the Cathedral. The site staff are friendly and welcoming. Loved the on site shop and pizza oven. The washing facilities are excellent. From a practical perspective, the pitch was flat and plentiful. Great to have a place to have a fire. It’s the fens so it’s flat and exposed so clever pitching to avoid winds are recommended. Can’t wait to come back.

The campsite was great, camping amongst the wild flowers was lovely and added extra privacy. It’s very spacious and the facilities were clean and well kept. There is a communal fridge/freezer to store food or ice packs. Fire pits provided with each pitch and you can buy a crate of wood for £8. Pizzas were £5 - expected them to be homemade but were supermarket bought and not the best quality. Last check in time is 7pm but booking through the Hipcamp app, there was no mention of this so we got a bit of a telling off when we arrived half an hour late (which was out of our control). Hipcamp need to update the listing. Overall really nice campsite, would highly recommend staying and exploring the area with a walk along the river to Ely.

We absolutely loved camping at mad hatters!! The facilities were amazing and the staff went above and beyond to show you around upon arrival. Everything was so clean and the camp itself is so beautiful and very family friendly. We will definitely be returning

We really liked this site, it’s a great place to relax for a few days, the pitches are very well laid out with lots if space and privacy, the bathrooms are immaculate very clean, great water pressure. staff are friendly. You can see this is a site which has had a lot of thought gone into it very well maintained in a peaceful location.

The site is very unique, you won’t find anything similar so it’s definitely worth a visit. I say unique in the fact each pitch is cut out surrounded by tall grass making it private and cosy. Pros: -Well presented campsite -accommodating staff -close to local town -unique layout -clean facilities and modern inside Cons: - surrounded by long open roads that can get noisy -as the whole town is surround by flatland wind can be an issue - the road getting into the site is rough (not good for motorbikes) - you cant park near your tent so you need to wheel barrow your gear -the onsite pizza was undercooked (raw toppings) - onsite fire wood wasn’t cure making it near impossible to light and when lite smoked a lot - facilities are very tight and crammed (only 3 loos for men and 3 for woman) Final thoughts: It’s worth a visit due to its unique layout alone. Although the roads getting in are so bumpy this would be fine if you are not riding a bike! It’s reasonably priced and the staff made us feel welcome. In our situation we wouldn’t come back again due to local noise (trains/roads) and riding a bike down the gravel path isn’t fun. But this is all our opinion and you should try it yourself.

It is a lovely campsite. We enjoyed having the wildflowers all around each tent pitch. Exploring the paths between the tents and looking for blackberries was great fun for the kids. The shower and toilet block were very clean. It was fun to have the fire pit by our tent for toasting marshmallows. Would love to come back again.

We loved being here! We didn't want to leave. The campsite is really peaceful, beautifully taken care of and quite unique. The tent plots are all separated by wildflowers which gives good privacy also. Close to Ely also, which is a bonus.

Love the way this place is set up, with each site having its own little clearing separated from others by wildflowers and its own little firepit. Bathroom facilities much better than the average camping experience. Almost had the place to ourselves, so it was very peaceful (though you can just hear the road, and there was a live gig somewhere that we could hear). Would have had trouble finding enough kindling to light a fire with the firewood we bought from the site (which was enough, but not loads) if we hadn't thought to bring some, so would recommend bringing some in. Only a brief stay for us, so didn't get to explore the area much.

Wow! What a beautiful campsite, the wildflower boarders between the pitches are so gorgeous and make the space feel so private. Lovely facilities (and nice hot showers!) and the pizzas on Saturday night were an unexpected treat!!

As a keen camper, every so often you find an absolute gem. This is one of those. Excellent facilities, great pitch layout, beautiful scenery and superb hospitality. This will be a regular spot for me from now on. Wonderful

The most beautiful setting surrounded by wild flowers. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Facilities clean and tidy. Enjoyed our walk into the lovely Ely (just over an hour). We’d defo come back! Thank you for a fab trip.

A peaceful get away
Timber Tent - Magog
Amazingly peaceful wild flower meadow area. Shower facilities are excellent with private individual rooms including one with a bath. The owner promotes recycling with compost bins and good separation facilities. Live that you can have open fires and well priced seasoned logs for sale. Bob and Lesley, who manage the site, are extremely accommodating and helpful. I will definitely be going again and recommending to my friends

Nearby attractions
It’s a 2.5-mile walk along the River Ouse in to Ely where you can visit Ely Cathedral (01353 667735) and Oliver Cromwell’s House (01353 662062) which includes interactive exhibitions and an escape room. If it rains, you could head for Ely Leisure Village, 3.5 miles from site, which has a swimming pool, 6-screen cinema and fast-food eateries. More active adventures can be found 9 miles away at Hannam's Wake Hub and Aquapark (01353 649683) or 12 miles away at Wicken Fen Nature Reserve (01353 720274) where you can walk, hire bikes or take a boat ride. Perhaps visit Anglesey Abbey (01223 810080) where there’s a Jacobean House and maze. Cambridge and Newmarket are both 17 miles from site and the Norfolk Coast is 30 miles away.
Food and drink
Ely has plenty of choice when it comes to food and drink. Recommended hotspots include the riverside Cutter Inn (01353 662713), The Royal Standard (01353 645194), Peacocks Tearoom (01353 661100) and The Almonry (01353 666360) – which stands within the cathedral precincts. If you’re eating out with kids, try Wildwood (01353 659587) or Arbuckles Diner (01353 656710). Spanish restaurant, Habis (07445 831648) in Littleport (3 miles from site) also comes highly recommended.
