Camping Historic Kinsol Trestle

We stayed for the weekend in site 1. It was the furthest from the house , so nice and private and quiet. We did a wine tour on our e bikes and went swimming at the River . It was a lovely stay, and the hosts were great and even left fresh tomatoes . I would definitely recommend !

We loved the privacy and the quiet. Also the five Guinea hens making an appearance was a great bonus. Unfortunately our vehicle had difficulties getting through the gravel bar at the entrance. It’s too low for us. Otherwise I’d definitely stay again. Pit toilet was immaculate and didn’t stink. Close to hiking.

The space was lovely and very peaceful! Would definitely return. The hosts were kind (and helped us jumpstart our car when we left!), the garden was beautiful, the turkeys were cute, and all-in-all we had a great weekend.

Had a great time at this spot! The host, Loretta, was friendly and showed us the lay of the land upon arrival. The outhouse was clean and it was a nice perk having access to well water and a sink. The site is close to the Kinsol Trestle (walk or bike) and Cowichan Bay to explore (by vehicle). Nice and quiet at night. Would stay again!

The place is very simple but nice. There’s an outhouse & a water source up by the main house. We slept there but didn’t spend a whole lot of time there. There was a burn ban so we could not make a campfire. The older couple who live on the property were very welcoming & warm. The address needs a sign with the number at the start of the driveway because it was very difficult to find. I was glad that I had asked Giovanni prior for the exact address, so we could figure out which driveway it was by looking at the other house numbers. GPS alone cannot get you there.

This was our second time staying at the site. This time we just slipped in in the evening and left in the morning, but it was nice to return to a spot that we felt was wonderful and comfortable at the end of our trip.

I love Gio's property. Peaceful, quiet, remote... yep not much around, which is just great! I've camped in two spots on his property now, and had wonderful experiences both times. About a 4.5 km hike to the trestle bridge (trailhead is just 1km down the road from Gio's)

Fantastic site in every way!

This site was fantastic in all ways. Quiet and serene, clean and airy pit toilet, very helpful host on site if needed. Giovanni was very responsive to all of our questions and generous in many ways. Really a perfect spot to stop and rest and so close to the Lake Cowichan trail.

Giovanni has a nice property just off the Cowichan Valley trail. This was a perfect stopping point for bikepacking the Cowichan Valley 8. I spent two nights here, doing the loop to Cowichan Lake and Duncan on my second day. Highly recommended! Giovanni is great!

Had a really nice time camping here. The hosts were very friendly and kind and having access to a sink was super helpful. Outhouse was clean and site was big. There were wasps EVERYWHERE so I would definitely recommend bringing a mesh tent for your eating area. Overall it was a great time! Would definitely come back.

We were bike packing on the Cowichan Valley Trail and stayed here for the night. We enjoyed the flat tent spots and picnic table. This spot is very close to the trail, so its quite convenient.

Tent camping in the forest at Giovanni's place was tranquil and quiet. Loved waking to bird song and the occasional deer roaming around. Close to trails, short drive to town, exactly what I was looking for. Giovanni is welcoming, friendly and responsive. I'd stay here again.

Had an amazing weekend with my partner at Giovanni’s property. He gifted us with some tasty produce from the garden for dinner too, and had some nice chats with us. Love the Cowichan valley - wished we could have stayed longer 🙂❤️

Peaceful and beautiful. Lovely location, close to TCT trail and easy drive to town for other walks, mountain biking.... The outhouse was closeby and clean. The host was friendly, kind, informative, and I felt warmly welcomed. My 3 days there felt like a mini-retreat. I am absolutely looking forward to my return.

Giovanni’s property was exactly what I was looking for. Quiet and peaceful, yet close to some epic mountain biking. You can ride to Burnt Bridge for some challenging trails and there are lots of easier and intermediate mtb trails at Cobble Hill, Mt. Tzouhalem and Maple Mountain, all within easy driving distance. There are no shower facilities on site but the local rec centre in Duncan has a decent sauna, steam room and hot tub. Perfect after a ride!

Friendly host! Peaceful campsite—only one! Lots of amenities: outhouse, sink with well water, picnic table, fire pit, etc. Nearby Kinsol Trestle is a lovely experience! Convenient stop between Victoria and Nanaimo.
