Campfires are very much part of the experience. We provide raised firepits to borrow, with logs available to buy on site, making evenings perfect for stargazing, sharing stories and unwinding together around the fire.
The campsite is located just outside the small hamlet of Martinhoe, with direct access to the South West Coast Path for spectacular coastal walks straight from your pitch. A historic Roman beacon sits nearby, and the surrounding farmland is rich in wildlife — deer are often spotted in neighbouring fields, alongside birds of prey and songbirds.
Facilities are simple and low-impact, with a compost toilet and a water point provided. There is no electricity, no showers and no Wi-Fi — a delightfully off-grid setting designed for those who value peace, space and time outdoors.

The fields are huge and the views are great. Atmosphere was relaxed and easy. Families seemed as happy as couples and single travellers. Lovely clean shower, toilet and washing up facilities - made with love! Just be prepared for strong winds and a field that is mostly not level. I very much enjoyed my stay!

Fantastic, clean facilities with plenty of space and no queues. The South West Coast Path is right at the gate for beautiful walks, and I’d recommend pitching in the second field to benefit from both the sea views and plenty of space for your dog to play.
Saturday, Mexican street food on site was fresh, delicious and great value, plus the picturesque pub nearby is dog friendly with a large beer garden.
Lots of campfires dotted around the site as the sun set over the sea with scenery all around made it feel really special. Already missing it! ❤️

We had a beautiful stay at the Secret Spot. The owners were absolutely lovely and welcoming. Everything was very well thought out. They thought of every little thing you could wish for.
The gardens a were stunning! It was just so perfect all round.
Will definitely be back again, and that will be our go to camping spot for the foreseeable!! 😍

Gorgeous views and facilities, albeit basic, are kept to a fantastic standard. Would highly recommend. However, please bear in mind that as you have basically a cliff top pitch this does mean that you are open to the elements. Wind battered our tents and unfortunately had to leave earlier than planned which was the same for other campers. Obviously this is of no fault of the site itself or the owners who maintain it to a brilliant standard.

Beautiful location in the upper valley, offering many pitches with lovely views of the sea !
The showers here are fantastic ! Great temperature and powerful (if you want them to be). The campsite is well organized, tidy and quiet, so offers campers the opportunity to have much peace and relaxation.
Weekends offer beautiful coffee & cake to buy in the coffee shack (I would) and I think you can arrange for pizzas too, if I’m not mistaken - Ask Mew though.
Love the fact that each pitch offers the ability to have your own campfire. This was the deciding factor for me.

Great site. I was a solo female camper and felt very safe here. Every camper I met was super friendly and even had another solo camper join me for drinks at the fire pit.
Facilitators are basic but good. Shower is really powerful and hot. And even a freezer.
The view is stunning and I will definitely be back.

Just had a perfect weekend camping at Strawfields. Lovely big pitches, beautifully maintained, hot showers, and added bonus of a trampoline and a few alpacas for our boys to visit! Alex was also a great host. Great spot to camp if you want to visit North Devon beaches.

Brilliant clean and old fashioned camp site. Well maintained large field with good views. Clean toilet shower block, good showers , inside and outside washing up area. Fridge/freezer , microwave and PowerPoints. Parts of the field have electric hook up and the location is very peaceful. Dorchester is 6 miles away with lots of shops and plenty of DC EV charging stations. Christopher the owner is lovely and for a small fee his wife produces continental breakfast. A great site that I shall be using again
