Near Carmarthen, South Wales. A compact and accessible wood with a balance of commercial crops, mature broadleaves, and recent planting, it is set in a sheltered location overlooking the Towy Valley with stunning views. Ffinnant Wood is a mixed woodland, partly commercial and partly broadleaf, with a steep-sided broadleaved valley, Cym yr Abbey, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The wood designations include restored ancient woodland and plantations on ancient woodlands. The SSSI designation arises as this is one of few localities in South Wales that has yielded well-preserved trilobite fossil specimens. The wood comprises a stand of mature mixed Sitka spruce and Douglas fir. These trees have been managed to put on height and volume. The area of recent (2021) coniferous clear felling and some nearby thinning yielded approximately 1,800m3, approximately 635 tonnes/ hectare, showing that this is a productive site. Following harvesting, these areas were replanted with 50/50 Sitka spruce/Douglas fir and a Sm edge of broadleaves adjacent to the B4300. It has been weeded and is growing well. A small area (c. 0.4 hectares, see map) remains to be replanted with 960 trees (Sitka spruce, 90%, oak, 5%, mixed broadleaves, 5%). RIGHTS OF WAY There are no footpaths on the property. This gives the wood an extra element of privacy. DIRECTIONS Drive east on the B4300 from Carmarthen. After 4 miles, you will pass the turn-off for the B4310. Keep on the B4300; after 800m, Ffinnant Wood is on your right-hand side, rising up the slope. There are two points of vehicular access to the wood from the B4300. For viewing, as the B4300 straightens, pull over to the right and park adjacent to the metal double gates, from there you can enter the woodland on foot. You can also enter the site through the smaller wooden gate c.l00m west.

The walking straight from the site was amazing and the views from littlehangman down into the town were stunning. Paul provided us with a big bucket of logs and we kept the fire going for ages. Would 100% recommend :)

My family and I stayed at this picturesque site for 2 weeks and we had an amazing time. Lesley and her husband Paul were wonderful hosts, always happy to chat and a fountain of knowledge about the area. They kept the facilities clean even over a busy bank holiday weekend. There were two flushing toilets and one portaloo (to save those at the top of the site from walking too far), two warm showers, washing up facilities and a lovely converted railway carriage that had electrical points and a fridge freezer. On the few days we had rain this carriage was a great space to eat or play board games. The site has outstanding views overlooking the valley with combe martin bay. Alongside it is a public footpath taking you to great hangman and further Exmoor trails. You can walk to combe martin from here but it is a steep hill back up so bear that in mind if you take a lot of stuff to the beach. Also being up so high you get the spectacular views but it can be windy on occasions so bear the weather in mind when choosing your spot (you are not assigned a specific position so you can move if the weather changes). What i really liked was that the site was not overcrowded even when fully booked as the hosts keep numbers low. This meant it was not noisy and you did not feel like you were on top of anyone. We would definitely come back here.

We stayed at Tragella Place Camping for two nights with two friends and our two dogs, and had a fantastic time. The location is perfect – close to plenty of beautiful beaches and just a short trip into Padstow. Our dogs especially loved exploring the local beaches! Although the weather wasn’t on our side, we still made the most of our stay. The facilities on site were great, with clean showers and bathrooms, plus a bar and food available. The hosts were attentive and welcoming, and gave us some excellent recommendations for things to do in the area. Overall, it was a lovely stay, and we’d definitely recommend Tragella Place Camping – we’ll be returning!

Absolutely stunning!! The view was outstanding! The facilities were really lovely, a proper toilet seat! Couple of showers, sinks to wash hands and an outside washing up sink. It was cleaned regularly and well maintained! They had a hut next to the toilet facilities with a fridge and freezer, and a table if you wish to use. The owners are very friendly and came round regularly to check if needed anything! Definitely recommend! The road coming into the field was ok, it is quite even, and with a low car like my own, we was able to get through without a scratch!😅 Small village 10 minute drive and we also climbed the Great hangman which was a 40 minute hike!

We found the owners to be really friendly, and this spot has such an amazing view we’re sure to be back at some point. The communal area and washing up space is also nicely presented. We did spot what looked like a port-a-loo at the top area, and we had two loo’s in the bottom area. It would be great if there were more than two loo’s here as it can get rather busy. But the camp site is in such a beautiful location with amazing views, it’s well worth your time! We had a great stay, thank you!

This camping spot is incredible, I’ve been here on two separate occasions now and it’s not disappointed on either of them - the people who run it are really lovely and super helpful with anything you’d need. The facilities are nice and a good standard for a camping site. The view and location of this place is unreal, Combe Martin is also a lovely town to explore not far from the site.

We had such a lovely weekend. Our two young children enjoyed roaming around the farm, and seeing Paul on his tractor tending to the fields. Our little one loved the horses in the adjacent field, and the sheep and cows nearby. The views over Combe Martin Bay were incredible - we were treated to some amazing sunsets. The campsite itself is clean and well kept, and has all the amenities that you'd expect. Paul was super helpful in delivering our daily wood stock for our nightly campfire. There is so much to explore in the area, we had some great trips out to Combe Martin itself, as well as Woolacombe (a lovely stretch of beach), Lynton & Lynmouth & Croyde. The campsite's close proximity to the South West Coast Path (specifically the Little Hangman walk) was something that we unfortunately weren't able to fit in, but would have loved to - we heard that the views were incredible. All in all, it was a lovely weekend, at an amazing campsite, where we were well looked after. We'll be back!

Secluded camping, campfires, coast and country. Head west through Wales to the coast and somewhere by the south east corner of Ireland is the beautiful region of Pembrokeshire. Halfway between the smallest cathedral city in the realm and the site of the last invasion of Britain by their Gallic neighbours is the idyll of Sir Benfro. Once in Trevine or Trefin, there is a long bumpy lane with no tarmac. Watch that sat nav go into the blue, and you too can be Ar y Mwny. Make your camp nestled on a gentle hillside, with panoramic views of the sea and countryside. Located just about as far away from any roads as its possible to get in this part of Pembrokeshire, yet still only a short walk to the coast via footpaths. Being situated amongst several hundred acres of farmland, we not only have inspirational views but also the blessing of unobstructed sunrises and sunsets, followed by a wide open starscape. Its possible to take the wildlife for granted, but across the seasons we can delight in the bird flocks, and casually greet the resident buzzards and foxes and the family of Jac y Do that have raised their young here over several decades. And now, the little birds are managing to flourish too. We live here in harmony, and are thankful for the space. Forget that clock. For each pitch there is: Drinking Water Taps Stone Firepit with Old Field Stones to rebuild your own if required. Good firewood available to buy by the basket. Toilets and Showers, currently consisting of: A main toilet block with three toilets with wash basins - each in family-sized rooms. A Ty Bach Toilet Cubicle (water flushing, not chemical). A main shower block with a hot shower and toilet - our own Blue Lagoon cabin. A hot power shower and toilet enclosure. Also available are: A utility room for hot washing up, and a wash and dry laundry option. Fridge / Freezers for ice packs and anything else you might wish to keep cool. Our beautiful home is a glamping and camping site with its own gorgeous fishing lake on the outskirts of the village of Llandyfan. You can find us to the west of the Brecon Beacons or Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Llandyfan Campsite has been lovingly re-established in early 2024 by Andy and Jo. Since taking ownership, we have rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into restoring it to its former glory and will soon be back to being a fully operational slice of Welsh heaven. Our first focus has been the fishing lake which we opened in March. The campsite followed in May. We are currently working on electric hook ups and other improvements. We have chickens on site that roam free during the day. They are friendly and like to wander around the tents to say hello to our guests! We would like everyone who visits to have a great time and a relaxing break. Whilst here please be considerate towards others, to their property, and while using the facilities. If you have any concerns, please let us know. We have brought out a few rules from our T&Cs and we kindly ask that you have a read through before your stay. Litter: You must pick up your litter. Please either take it with you or recycle it appropriately in the bins onsite. There are bins around the campsite, please recycle where possible. Pitches to be left as you found them. Noise: Be respectful and consider your neighbours. Keep noise to a minimum after 10pm and before 8am in the morning. No loud music is to be played at any time. Children: Children must be supervised at all times around the campsite and can play within the pitch space allocated to you. At quiet times, it may be possible for children to use vacant pitches for play but this cannot be guaranteed. The amenity block and associated facilities are not to be used as a play area. Dogs: Must not to be left unattended. Are to be kept on leads at all times whilst on the campsite. (We are working on an enclosed dog walking area, however this is not yet available). no refunds on bookings if cancelled withing 10days of booking
