We grow lots of vegetables, herbs, fruit and edible flowers in our kitchen garden, lower field beds and in our new polytunnel. We have a small bantam chicken called Georgia who you will come across wandering around the gardens! On arrival feel free to pitch your tent on the pitch you have booked. (There’s no formal checking in process.) Pitch one and two are both signposted, as are the toilets. You can light a fire within the fire pit at your camp site. The closest places to buy firewood are the garage at The Temple roundabout or Vivo in Saintfield. When you are settled, wander around the garden and farm to see what is growing. Take a walk to our willow patch, or have a peek inside the polytunnel. We are a working farm so sometimes not all areas will be available, but we are happy for you to explore the areas not in use. Two mornings per week we run volunteering sessions. You are welcome to join us in harvesting vegetables, sowing seeds, weeding and whatever other activities we have planned. Just book your spot via our website – theedibleflower.com - there’s always a tasty bite to eat after the work is done! Picnic tables are available in the courtyard area, which you can use. There is also an outside hot and cold tap with a small sink. We have two newly renovated toilets just off the main courtyard, one is wheelchair accessible. This is located in the Cow Byre, in the grey locker, along with a few other supplies you may borrow - boardgames / books etc. The Cow Byre is also home to our Farm Shop. Depending on the time of year, it is stocked with seasonal vegetables, jams and preserves and our cookbook! I may not be around when you arrive, but hopefully I’ll see you at some point during your stay - I’m often knee-deep in vegetables somewhere! Overview

The fishing town of Kilkeel is right at the corner of County Down, at the foot of the Mourne Mountains and along the scenic Mourne Coastal Route. This is the place to tuck into fresh seafood or take to the waters on a boat charter. The town is also within easy reach of the Mourne Mountains for hillwalking or scenic drives—try the Whitewater Scenic Loop, which starts in town, or head to the mouth of Carlingford Lough, the sea inlet that borders the Republic of Ireland.

Where to go

Cranfield Point

Head south of town to Cranfield Point for some of the area’s most scenic camping and sunsets. This flat, grassy headland set along the long blue-flag Cranfield Beach and at the mouth of the sea inlet at Carlingford has lots of options for campers. Various camping options offer all-weather pitches, campervan spots, and amenities such as laundry facilities, playgrounds, and direct beach access.

Annalong

Drive north along the Mourne Coastal Route and you’ll come to the fishing village of Annalong, where you can find full-service touring pitches with sea views. Other spots in the area offer glamping pods and canvas tents.

Carlingford Lough

There’s plenty to do around this sea inlet, with sailing cruises, canoeing, and kayaking on the water, plus mountain biking, hillwalking, climbing, and dedicated adventure centres like East Coast Adventure. Kilbroney Forest Park is set on an estate overlooking the lough.

When to go

The best weather for camping is between May and September, with the highest temperatures usually in July and August. Summer also sees the biggest crowds, so it’s best to book summer holidays in advance. Some campgrounds close during winter.

Campers should be prepared for weather changes at any time, with rain showers, mist, or cooler temperatures possible in any season. Have proper navigation and safety equipment when hiking in the Mourne Mountains.
