In the summer you can book a whole 3 Acre camping meadow for yourselves and/or friends and family. Popular with friendship groups and extended families for holidays and special occasions you have 24 hour exclusive access to the shelter if the Hay Barn and it's facilities. If you would like to be introduced to our sheep or hens please ask! One of the things people love about staying here is the amazing views - including watching the moon rise over the mountains. The developing Clwydian dark sky region means there are great views of the night sky and sometimes northern lights. You may just want to hang out and relax but there’s lots to do too! There are lovely local forest and waterside walks, neolithic burial sites, a stone circle, Osprey, butterfly and (if you are lucky) red squirrel watching, a secret waterfall and river swimming, easy and challenging off road cycling options, access to water sports. Or if you want to use a car to help get up higher the Clwydian and Berwyn Mountains and Eryri (Snowdon) National Park are all within a half an hour drive. If history and mooching is your thing we are just 5 miles from Ruthin - one of the oldest existing Tudor towns - boasting an historic gaol, a craft centre with regular exhibitions and a castle with a spa and peacocks. Denbigh with its stunning castle, Corwen, Llangollen, Llyn Tegid (Bala) and the North Wales Coast are easy to reach by car. There are also options for days out using public transport including taking a steam train. Please ask - they aren't all known to Google! The nearby village has a community run pub and shop with the Glan Llyn tafan offering food by local gastro company Sorbus. In fact there are loads of great little villages near by each with their own character and points of interest including great cafes, walks, Punjabi pub food, historic churches and sacred wells.

Our beautiful home is a glamping and camping site with its own gorgeous fishing lake on the outskirts of the village of Llandyfan. You can find us to the west of the Brecon Beacons or Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Llandyfan Campsite has been lovingly re-established in early 2024 by Andy and Jo. Since taking ownership, we have rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into restoring it to its former glory and will soon be back to being a fully operational slice of Welsh heaven. Our first focus has been the fishing lake which we opened in March. The campsite followed in May. We are currently working on electric hook ups and other improvements. We have chickens on site that roam free during the day. They are friendly and like to wander around the tents to say hello to our guests! We would like everyone who visits to have a great time and a relaxing break. Whilst here please be considerate towards others, to their property, and while using the facilities. If you have any concerns, please let us know. We have brought out a few rules from our T&Cs and we kindly ask that you have a read through before your stay. Litter: You must pick up your litter. Please either take it with you or recycle it appropriately in the bins onsite. There are recycling bins on the campsite, it is your responsibility to recycle. Pitches to be left as you found them. Noise: Be respectful and consider your neighbours. Keep noise to a minimum after 10pm and before 8am in the morning. No loud music is to be played at any time. Children: Children must be supervised at all times around the campsite and can play within the pitch space allocated to you. At quiet times, it may be possible for children to use vacant pitches for play but this cannot be guaranteed. The amenity block and associated facilities are not to be used as a play area. Dogs: Must not to be left unattended. Are to be kept on leads at all times whilst on the campsite. (We are working on an enclosed dog walking area, however this is not yet available). no refunds on bookings if cancelled withing 10days of booking

Coed Obry is a 5.5 acre private woodland on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. It has its own private gated access from the road and a 50m track leads from the A 4085 to a small car park for 5 vehicles. Paths lead from there to the caravan, bunkhouse, camping areas. There is a compost toilet block and sink (cold water tap) in the centre of the wood shared by all visitors. The notice board in the car park provides visitors with maps, photos and information about the wood, and there are laminated maps showing the routes of around 30 local walks which visitors are welcome to borrow during their stay. Canoe, kayaks and paddle boards are available to hire in Coed Obry and there are several fire pits with seasoned firewood for sale. There is no mains water so visitors are requested to bring their own drinking water, but rain water harvesting systems provide water for washing. Nearby there are several outstanding beaches within 1-3 miles and there is good access to the mountains of Snowdonia; the Afon Dwyryd provides an excellent sheltered river/estuary for canoeing and paddle boarding; the slate quarries and tourist attractions of Blaenau Ffestiniog, rock climbing at Tremadog (2 miles); spectacular waterfalls at Croesor (1 mile); the Ffestiniog Narrow Gauge Railway (0.5 miles); the Glaslyn Osprey Centre (1 mile); several shops, restaurants, hostelries and Spar shop in Penrhyndeudraeth (1 mile); three large supermarkets and a regional shopping centre in Porthmadog (2.5 miles).

Ludlow camping guide

Where to go

Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Over 50 hills in Shropshire Hills AONB are accessible by public rights of way, making it easy to enjoy new adventures on every trip. Walk and cycle the extensive paths, go horseback riding on the moors, or canoe in River Severn to see the park by waterway. Camping and caravanning are welcome at designated sites in the park, and shuttle buses run from May to October for convenient access.

Mortimer Forest

With 1,000 hectares of green woodland, Mortimer Forest provides a peaceful home for warblers, nuthatches, butterflies, and fallow deer. Stroll forest paths and admire wildlife, then stop for lunch in one of the park’s picnic facilities. Designated camping pitches offer spots for overnight stays in the park, with options for rustic tent camping, tiny home rentals, and glamping tents under trees.

Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Summit 425 metres to the peak of Worcestershire Beacon, where hikers can see as far as Wales on a clear day. Walk and cycle past an array of historic sites, including the Holy Well—one of the world’s oldest spring-water bottling plants, as well as castles and ancient boundaries established by King Charles I. Find tent pitches on farms in the AONB, as well as private field and meadow camping spots for caravans, tents, and even glamping accommodations.

When to go

Ludlow is warmest from June to August, when the area is popular for camping, hiking, and canoeing. Temperatures reach highs of 22°C in summer. Competition for camping pitches declines slightly in spring and fall; however many camping spots remain open year-round. Campers visiting West Midlands in winter can find temperatures averaging around 7°C as well as rain and light snow showers.
