3 nights at Milkmaid Meadow Campsite

This is such a lovely site. If you love being in the calm of nature this is the place to be! Having the lambs in the neighbouring fields, seeing the cows and horses in the distance. As the sun goes down you can hear the owls. With the lack of light pollution it is the perfect place to star gaze. The showers, toilets and washing up facilities are very clean and there is warm water! This site is also very dog friendly with the field being very secure. I would say my favourite part is having an area to have a communal fire pit. It means other campers can get together socially in the evening. Barnstaple is only a 13 minute drive away so you are close to a town and supermarket if needed. There is also a beach close by. Exmore national Park is only 50 minutes away. I will definitely be back again!. Thank you so much Jakki.

1 night at Meldon Lake and Woods Wild Camping

This is a beautiful and secluded spot with views out over Dartmoor. A footpath/bridleway runs through the site and can be followed up to Meldon Reservoir and way-marked walking routes. The access instructions from Phil were excellent. We were in a 6m long motorhome (long wheel base van) and navigated well along the narrow lane. Would love to return for a few nights; we were only there for one night and were the only people there. Beautiful!

It was absolutely perfect. Couldn’t haven’t asked for anything more - well apart from staying for longer. The most gorgeous location. An absolute must for exploring the area! The hosts were so lovely too - my kids already want to go back as loved spending time with their friendly dog. 11/10!

I really enjoyed my stay at The Camping Field and will definitely be back! Richard is a very friendly host who is happy to give recommendations and lent me some tools when I needed them! The loos and shower are super clean and pleasant to use. I definitely would recommend this campsite!

A great quite spot for exploring the local area with amazing views. There is plenty of wildlife and Jakki was very friendly and helpful with providing fire pit and really good fire wood. Hope to go back soon.

2 nights at Meldon Lake and Woods Wild Camping

Planned to spend a week traveling from North Norfolk to Cornwall and decided to book this site as a stop over for one night to break up the journey. We never made it to Cornwall 😆 We were so blown away with this site and area we just kept booking extra nights and ended up staying here for five days, and then another night on our way home. It's access to one of the prettiest valleys in England is amazing, you are right in it. So much to discover between the viaduct and the Dam. Stunning fairy water pools tumbling down the moor. We had our cold water therapy, luckily in beautiful weather with spectator views everywhere, not many people to have to share it with. Peaceful stunning nature. Vibrant yellow April gorse. Wild Dartmoor ponies greeting us at the camp site whilst we were cooking over a wood firepit in the evenings. The sound of the streams to send you to sleep at night. We were so very fortunate to have this site to ourselves which gave us the very wild experience. We completely connected with nature. It felt like we had been to a rerteat for a week. It is a 2.5 mile walk/bike ride along the granite way to Oakhampton if you do need more provisions, we can recommend the butchers near the supermarkets. Lovely steaks to cook on your fire pit. There is also a swimming pool if you really feel you need a shower. Amongst other eateries and shops. We can not recomend this campsite enough. Enchanting. Track to it is very narrow would not recommend wide vehicles.

I had a great stay here (April 2025): friendly hosts, lots of space, quiet location and of course great views. The gas-powered shower was all I needed after a long day on the sea.

Shhhhhh, dont tell everyone, but this wild campsite is absolutely amazing. This is one of the best spots for feeling like you are wild camping. You can relax without worrying about being moved on. Worth every penny of £20 a night. It's one we would definitely come back too again. Walk from the small private campsite, past the lake, step over a little bridge to the left and you are in the most beautiful valley, an old quarry, babbling fairypools, Wild ponies, lambs everywhere. Stunning yellow gorse, fantastic views, a Dam, a viaduct. Firepit every evening whilst watching the stars over looking lake, and woods. Just go prepared. We Loved it.

Nestled on the hilltops near Bucks Mills and Clovelly, our 13 acre smallholding-in-progress offers rustic nearly-wild camping in our wildflower hay meadows. Expect to share your space with hares, deer, foxes, owls, songbirds, field voles, bees and butterflies. The views from the fields are a well kept local secret - from your tent look out over Hartland, Lundy island, Saunton, Croyde, Exmoor and Dartmoor, even Pembrokeshire on a very clear day! FACILITIES: In keeping with our low impact approach, the fields are just fields, but with the addition of a shared picnic bench! A flushing toilet, drinking water, charging, WiFi, and info are at the farmhouse. A simple outdoor hot shower is coming soon (must finish building it) and compost loo for the camping field coming by summer. There is surprisingly excellent 4G/5G coverage if important for you. BBQs permitted off the ground and we have fire pits for loan and logs for sale. Dogs welcome under close control - please avoid meadow centres in summer to protect the nesting skylarks and ensure they do NOT chase the wildlife. ACCESS: Easily accessible by 4WD, and 2WD in summer/when dry. If wet we cannot guarantee your vehicle will get up the grassy hill. The views are worth the walk though! We're happy to help shuttle gear by truck, or wheelbarrow. Campervans have the emergency option of a level paddock by the road. THE SITE: Nature spot, relax and stargaze across our 4 fields. We recently planted 800 trees for a new woodland, created a wildlife pond, and are establishing a traditional cider orchard. Rose looks after our vegetable garden and usually has some native breed piglets to say hello to. Our apiary is managed by Jon who will happily explain about bees... and sell you a jar of honey for breakfast. Note - the area is agricultural with very occasional farm noise and odour. For the surfers amongst you there are several great beaches within a short distance and there's a handy wetsuit wash area when you get back. Dogs are welcome - all we ask is that you clean up and use the waste bin on site. This quiet site is perfect for children 8 years and over with plenty of space for a ball game or two. Fire pits and bbq's are allowed as long as they're raised off the ground - we have blocks for you to use. If you are staying 6 nights of more then you can use one of our firepits on a 1st come, 1st served basis - free of charge.

It offers 4 acres with facilities, 7 acres of wilderness, shower block, level pitches, picturesque river, children’s playground and has been rated AA 4 star gold pennant. Becky and John both love Cornwall and fell in love with the site as soon as they saw it and it provided the perfect opportunity for a new challenge. Having only recently taken over at Willow Valley in the Summer of 2024, there are always ongoing improvements being made so make sure you keep in touch. Any returning campers will be glad to know we aren’t changing the campsite itself though. Why would we when it is already so perfect!

A small family run campsite located on the famous ice cream farm, Roskilly’s. On the Lizard in South West Cornwall, the farm is remote and tucked away with a Cornish feel, yet there is plenty to do. The farm has a vast array of animals that you can feed, a large woodland and ponds walk where the cows may be grazing. There are also many stunning beaches and Cornish fishing villages a small walk or drive away. We have a restaurant offering lovely food all day from breakfast to dinner. During the summer season there is also live music performed by local bands on selected evenings. Our campsite offers large grass pitches for tents and camper vans as well as a pristine toilet and shower block and communal area.
