Respect other campers: Be courteous to fellow campers and respect their privacy and space. Pets: If you bring pets, ensure they are well-behaved, kept on a leash or have impeccable recall, and cleaned up after. Do not allow your pet to enter another camper's space. Quiet time: Maintain quiet hours between 11pm and 7am. All music must stop by 10pm, and noise should be minimal after 11pm. Campfires: Penn Meadow Farm allows fires; please use existing scorched areas if possible rather than creating new ones. Never leave any fires unattended and ensure they are completely extinguished when finished. Wipe your feet prior to entering the Bell tents to remove any coal that may have become attached. Cars/vehicles: Cars and vehicles can be on the field but should move minimally and always under 5mph. Car stereos should not be used for music entertainment. Drugs and Alcohol: Drug use is prohibited, and violators will be asked to leave. Consume alcohol responsibly, and do not drive or move your vehicle after consuming alcohol. We do not typically book Large non-family groups unless they are seeking a calm and peaceful stay. These groups must have authorization prior to the visit.

A small family run site in Weston-on-the Green village located with a local pub 5 minutes walk away and on site cafe. The site also has newly refurbished toilet and shower facilities. Amazing location to access Oxford city and easy access to M40 (Junction 9). Good things await for those who grab a berth at Weston Caravan and Campsite, in the Oxfordshire village of Weston-on-the-Green. For starters, space seekers should be pleased to see that there’s plenty of breathing room around this former dairy farm – excellent news for kids or dogs that need a bit of haring-about time after being cooped up in the car. Depending on where you’ve plonked down you may find that your nearest neighbours are the resident beef cattle, sheep or horses; it’s worth keeping your eyes open for sightings of the hedgehogs that often scuttle about the place too. Perhaps most crucially for those whose stomachs dictate a site’s success is the presence of a café that serves up a tempting range of freshly cooked goodies: breakfasts (no rush – they’re served all day), salads, cakes and coffees, plus cheeses, pies and the like to take away. And the crème de la crème – literally: homemade ice cream in up to 16 (yes, a lipsmacking 16) different flavours. Evening appetites can be sated with a barbecue out on the field, or trotting off to the local pub five minutes’ walk away. The site added a new toilet and shower block in 2018. And how to get to this little slice of rural loveliness? The village is just a few minutes’ drive from the A34 and Junction 9 of the M40, making it both a useful stopover on cross-country voyages and a handy spot for Oxfordshire breaks (perhaps taking in Oxford, Blenheim Palace or bagging bargains in Bicester).

It has its own stove and outside is a washroom just for you with hot shower , toilet and sinks. Your own meadow allows you to just relax and be. Up on the campfield you can bring your own tent or hire a Belle tent from us with all the fittings to camp contentedly. Our new Wash House has hot showers, flushing toilets and basins. You can light a fire and cook up a BBQ or maybe just watch the world go by. A huge range of activities are possible or you can lie in the hammock with a good book. We have very friendly dogs and rescue chickens who may come and visit. Wild deer wander past in the early morning mist and the odd buzzard picks an argument with a bunch of crows but nothing much else should disturb you. We moved here after an 18 month search 11 years ago. It was close to everything we wanted and we've spent some time getting a bit closer.

We loved how secluded & quiet the clearing was. We were on plot 6, and we just loved being right next to the woods but then also having a lot of nice green space plus It was sheltered from the wind. Lastly, the shower was great! It had really good pressure and was nice and hot. 100% would recommend! :)

Such a great campsite with gorgeous views and super quiet with different options to set up pitch with or without vehicle. Toilets were clean and warm showers. Farm shop was a little walk through the woods so you don’t get the hustle and bustle from that at all but still have access to food/drink by foot although the site is very near local shops by car too. Lovely little walk marked out too to wander around the farm. Staff at the shop & check in were super friendly and helpful, we felt really welcomed!!

We absolutely love this site. Richard the host is friendly and welcoming, you can tell he’s proud of his site. The eco toilets are great and very well maintained. 👍🏻 Water on tap and a hot shower as well. These are exactly what you need for offgrid camping. You’re surrounded by nature. Falling asleep to the owls waking up to the cuckoo. Perfect. 😍 We even had the pleasure of the cow choir in the next field mooing away. Was great. ☺️ There is also a course fishing lake which you can use for a very reasonable daily fee. Hubby hasn’t fished yet but we had a wander and it is stunning very clean and well maintained lake. Would definitely recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The site was easy to find. The field is huge and very private so we could all park comfortably together. There are toilet facilities up at the farm and the staff were really helpful in directing us. There are some interesting walks from the site around the former RAF Windrush and the local pub can be accessed from the site across the fields so we could easily avoid walking on the main road. I definitly recommend it as an intro to wild camping or a peaceful retreat for those in a self-contained system.

Savernake Forest camping guide

When to go

These woodlands are photo-ready at any time of year. Visit in spring when bluebells and wildflowers blanket the forest floor, or in fall when the autumn leaves transform the trees into a sea of red, yellow, and orange. Summer (July-Aug) weekends can get busy—make an early start to avoid the crowds and snag a picnic bench. The trails can get muddy when it rains, so wellies or hiking boots are a good idea.

Know before you go

Savernake Forest is located about a 10-minute drive south of Marlborough along the A346. The main entrance is at Postern Hill at the northwest end of the park, where free parking is available.
There is no entrance fee to visit the forest.
The forest has picnic and barbecue areas, and restrooms (open from Easter through October only). There are no other facilities within the park, so bring everything you need with you.
There are some paved paths in the forest that are accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
