Barley Hill Pod offers luxurious glamping accommodation in Chard. Nestled in an idyllic countryside setting in Somerset, we are the ultimate romantic getaway. Relax under the stars in the hot tub on a warm summer evening listening to the trickle of the near by stream and the sound of the owls. Our magnificent glamping pod is set in its own private field and surrounded by stunning oak trees and glorious barley fields. The site is a haven for a range of wild birds, from Woodpeckers to Kingfishers, making us the ideal holiday destination for nature lovers. The well-equipped pod comes with a range of excellent facilities to suit all your needs. A kitchen area comes with a range of appliances including an oven, hobs, microwave, toaster and kettle. You can relax on the comfy corner sofa and there is a solid oak bar with stools. A comfortable double bed is the perfect place to rest your head at night. The en suite bathroom has a hot shower, basin, flushing toilet and a warm towel rail. Inside the pod there is electrical lights and a flat-screen TV. Outside you can relax in the hot tub (available April - October) with a glass of wine whilst admiring the breathtaking views. A lovely terrace area also comes with seating. A BBQ is provided and a wooden fence encircles the pod to create a private and peaceful space. Opposite is an enclosed duck pond which is home to a range of ducks, as well as the occasional water-dwelling bird. Lots of superb attractions are in the local area: Perry's Cider Brewery and Museum. Forde Abbey & Gardens. South West Deer Rescue. Barrington Court. Montacute House.

4 nights at Poole Farm

The pod is located in a private farm and felt like a little escape from the rest of the world. The view of Woolacombe bay from the pod is stunning and if you're lucky with the weather, the sunset view is incredible too. The pod is well equipped and spacious enough for 2 adults and an infant (we were able to fit a travel cot inside too!). Would highly recommend this to anyone travelling to the area!

Weekend Trip to Nettle and Dock Farm

We couldn't have been happier with the dome, it had everything we needed. The area is tranquil, peaceful and quiet which was exactly what we needed for a break away. The hot tub was lovely and calm. Ilona was a brilliant host and we can't thank her enough for letting us stay. You most definitely need to try the honey at the barn. We were lucky enough to stay here during a meteor shower and the dome was perfect for star gazing. We will 100% be booking here again!

4 nights at Nettle and Dock Farm

Absolutely loved our stay here. It's very peaceful, tranquil and quiet. The location is beautiful with some great wildlife, we saw deer feeding in the early mornings and evenings less than 100 metres from our glamping dome. The dome itself was very spacious and had everything we could've wanted. Nettle and dock is perfect for those who want to escape the modern world and immerse themselves in nature.

Weekend Trip to Barley Hill Pod

We have just come back from a wonderful 2 nights at the Barley Hill Pod a peaceful private space in the Somerset countryside. The Pod had everything you need to make it comfortable, including a double bed, proper toilet and shower, fridge with freezer box and under floor heating! The real bonus is the completely private electric hot tub overlooking the stream and fields where we saw Deer and birds and squirrels. Even has a little duck pond opposite to have a wonder round with 4 friendly ducks. You do need to walk across a grass field to get to the Pod but it’s only about 200m from where you park the car and it’s totally worth it for the privacy you get! We just used a trolley to pull our stuff over. I would 100% recommend and we will definitely go back!

We loved our John's pods. They are just perfect. A beautiful and peaceful spot with amazing views over woolacombe Bay. The pods are extremely well done, perfect for a couple. Very clean, cozy and well laid out. Bbqs with sunset listening to the birds and cows was magical

Weekend Trip to Poole Farm

We had a great stay in the pod! John was very helpful and quickly responded to any questions, and he’d even left scones for us when we arrived. The pod was well equipped with everything we needed, from towels and shampoo to a bbq with coals and utensils. Check in process was super easy and the pod was very clean and surprisingly spacious. The views were so pretty and we had a wonderful stay. Would definitely come back again!

Weekend Trip to Hobby Farm

Had a beautiful stay. The hut was clean and well equipped. The shower was a bit lacking but better than nowt. I particularly loved that the hut was enclosed in its own paddock so my dog was contained and I could relax. The bed was comfortable and I slept like a log. Had a visit from a peacock as the sun went down each evening, how cool!

Where to go

West Quantoxhead to Kilve Coast

This Blue Anchor coastline on the Bristol Channel boasts Jurassic fossils, rugged cliffs, and deep rock pools, ideal for a day’s exploring with curious kids or nature-loving adults. Several holiday parks and no-frills campgrounds offer a convenient base for coastal or inland adventure.

Crowcombe

Near the AONB’s western border, this charming village and its surrounding meadows are a rambler’s paradise, with the Quantock Greenway and Samaritans Way South West trails passing directly through. Caravan parks and traditional campgrounds can be found nearby.

Aisholt

Home to the ancient Aisholt Wood, this scenic region in the east of the Quantocks was a known haunt of English Romantics Coleridge and Wordsworth. The red deer endemic to the Quantocks can often be seen here or at the nearby Holford Kelting reserve. Camping options include no-frills farm sites, plus glamping and caravanning.

Broomfield

In the southerly reaches of the AONB, this hilltop parish is among the highest points in the Quantocks, with its hiking trails providing sweeping rural vistas. The wild garden at Fyne Court offers family-friendly outdoor fun, while wild-style campgrounds and luxury glampsites can be found not too far away.

Kingston St Mary

Right on the southern border of the Quantock Hills, this gateway parish is just a 5-minute drive from the county town of Taunton, which is linked directly by train to London, Plymouth, Leeds, and Cardiff. The South Quantock Heritage Trail ticks off most of the region’s main sights, and is best explored on foot, bike, or horseback. Eco lodges, farm camps, and caravan sites are all available in the vicinity.
