With a private valley, formed in the last ice age, acres of land and woodland to explore, our farm has a very special feeling which has been mentioned by every visitor. Occupied by some beautiful wildlife, including buzzards and owls, deer, badgers and foxes.
The Wagons have a grass roof, firepits, sleep 4 (in double bunk format), they are hand-made from reclaimed materials salvaged from the local town and other areas, double skinned and insulated with sheeps wool. They have a 2-ring gas-burner in the cute kitchen area, dining table and seating, and are the perfect home away from home.
All the decor is vintage, including cuttlery, crockery and even the childrens teddy's.
Being on the doorstep of Dalby Forest, there are hours of entertainment to be had. You can follow the stream at the bottom of the valley to the River Derwent or venture into the surounding woods. We can provide a guest pass (free access) for Dalby Forest.
The Wagons are not powered by electricity and are romantically lit by candles and oil lamps. Heated by cast iron gas heaters.

How about a camping break with spectacular Durham Dales views? High Farm Holiday Park might well be the spot for you, a scenic, family- and dog-friendly glamping/ touring site. Restoring and recycling vintage items is a passion of ours and may examples of this can be found throughout the site including our showstopping /repurposed Railway Wagons – each one found around the local area and completely refurbished into cute and cosy mini lodges decked out with stylish wooden interiors.
Set in the County Durham countryside on a family-run former dairy farm, the site also features developing woodland and wetlands with loads of amazing wildlife, and mown walkways for you to explore your surroundings. An on-site café, shop and board game library are also all available for your use.
Open all year, the site is close to the market town of Bishop Auckland (10 minutes’ drive), with its wide range of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as the woodland walks and art trails in Hamsterley Forest.

Pods are spread over tree-lined grounds, with plenty of picnic tables about where you can admire the view or tuck into an alfresco meal (or both…). Campfires are also welcome in the designated areas – wood and charcoal can be picked up in Bridlington (10 minutes' drive), along with other holiday essentials.
Finished off in natural wood, Viking Garth Hideaways' all-weather accommodation is easy on the eye both inside and out. This eco-conscious spot has also kitted out all of its pods with double glazing and insulation (heating is on hand for those cooler nights). The smart interiors are mightily functional too, coming with a microwave, fridge, crockery, cutlery, a TV, and a DVD player.
If and when you manage to pull yourself away from these snug surrounds, start your explorations with jaunts to seaside villages like Bempton (five minutes' drive), which has a village pub, a railway station, and other handy amenities. Want a day off from driving? A local bus stops a few minutes' walk away from the site entrance.

Our camps are spread out across our site, each one secluded from the others with nothing to see but the meadows, woods, views and at night the starry skies.
The site is truly wild, with ancient woodland to one side with a beck running through it, and fields which we are rewilding full of wildflowers, bees and butterflies. The wildlife runs riot, with deer, owls, badgers, bats and all kinds of wild birds regular visitors. To preserve our wilderness and peace no cars are allowed on site; our visitors walk down the fields to their camps, leaving the real world with their cars at the gate (if you have mobility problems please contact us directly).
Our camps are completely off-grid making it perfect for those looking for a digital detox and to get away from the stresses and strains of modern life. We try hard to be gentle on this beautiful place we call home, and the site is designed to be low impact on the environment with it’s own spring water, composting toilets and willow banks. All lighting is solar or via rechargeable batteries and eco-friendly washing products are provided.
All the camps have a luxurious feeling despite feeling completely cut off from the outside world, with proper beds with comfy mattresses and their own hot showers; luxury bedding and fluffy towels are provided. Each camp has been handbuilt entirely by us from scratch from things that are recycled, found, car booted, made, upcycled, saved or rescued. Some things are on their third or even fourth life on the farm. Look out for the details, expect the unexpected, this is not glamping by numbers.
Nothing says glamping to us like a real fire at the end of the day, toasting marshmallows, sharing stories and putting the day to rest. Each camp has a firepit for you to do just this.
There is very little mobile reception in many places on the farm and we wholeheartedly recommend you take this as an opportunity to leave your phone with the rest of the modern world behind for your stay and remember what it is to live a little bit wild.

Our beautiful 5m Glamping bell tents are in an amazing location. We are based on a small, peaceful caravan park at Flamborough with stunning sea views and private, direct access to the scenic white chalk cliffs, which are a short 5 minute walk, where you will find many different sea birds. We are very close to several award winning beaches and a short drive to the village, where you will find several pubs serving excellent food. Our location is perfect for romance, peace, and adventure!
Inside the tent there is a double memory foam mattress and two comfortable futons ready for you to bring your OWN SLEEPING BAG OR DUVET, as well as coir matting/rugs, apple crates, lanterns, an ottoman with a cool box inside and fairy lights. You will have your own picnic bench, where you can enjoy the coastal views from your pitch looking towards both Flamborough lighthouses, and out to sea. Enjoy incredible starry nights without any light pollution whilst gazing at the passing ships at night. We have an amenities block with clean toilets, however we DONT HAVE SHOWERS. Staying in Bruce’s Wagon was a wonderful glamping experience, with beautiful views that instantly help you relax and switch off. The hospitality was excellent, with everything thoughtfully prepared and any help offered in a friendly and welcoming way. Weekend Trip to Greenoak Hideout
We had such a lovely stay at Greenoak. The hosts were so friendly and approachable and there were lots of lovely small touches that made the yurts feel homely and comfortable.
The log burners and electric blankets meant that we were warm over night and had a really comfortable sleep. We are looking forward to going in the Summer to be able to enjoy more daylight hours.
The boys (4 and 7) loved all of the friendly animals and the play equipment on the land, as well as the hot tub!
We will definitely book again and would recommend to our friends and family!

The setting was just perfect for our family of five (including two dogs and a 4 year old). The Yurt was comfortable, clean and very cosy. The private shower and toilet facilities were great, as was the hot tub.
We had a trip to the local nature reserve during our stay, however think our daughter and the dogs were just as happy in the grounds with lots to explore, very friendly animals and lots of activities including trampoline and climbing walls.

Had great weekend yurt was fantastic, great atmosphere all basic supplies we needed we where greeted and explained where everything was. Views from yurt where lovely overlooking farm land hottub was great if not used to wood fired tubs may take bit of getting used to but we had no problems. Highlight was using he hot tub then getting back in our yurt and putting the log burner on. Hosts where wonderfully really helpful would highly recommend.

We had our own little camp with everything we could ever have needed: outdoor kitchen with stove and utensils, fire pit and cooking plate, hammock, covered table, lovely little toilet and shower and so much space for our dog. Cannot recommend this property enough!
There are so many quirky and personal touches everywhere, its like a feast for the eyes, and we came back feeling very relaxed.
Great comfort and excellent facilities, didnt feel like camping at all, we will definately be returning and would highly Roe Deer cabins to any other camping novices out there.
