Oak Lodge is an exclusive Luxury Glamping Lodge set on a beautiful, sheltered Mid Wales hillside and close to amenities. At the moment there is just the one quirky lodge set in 3 acres of meadow, looking out over the hills and woodland. There is more land to explore (total 11 acres) and the views are far reaching. This quirky yet stylish lodge is only based here. Oak Lodge is mains connected for electricity, with a top of the range waterless toilet and eco friendly Bio Fuel Burner (Like a log burner but without the hassle). The hills and trees will be your morning view as you open the curtains looking out across the green expanse that surrounds this Mid Wales getaway. You are surrounded by green space, meadows left for wild flowers with paths cut through them and of course the many Oak Trees, some of which are over 400 years old. As there is only one lodge, you will have privacy and this offers the perfect location for a romantic luxury break for a couple. Alternatively, kids will love exploring the areas and discover the very shallow stream to splash in (it dries up fully in Summer). There is so much space to enjoy. After a 3-4 minute, 300 metre walk from the car park (some up a hillside path), kick off your boots in the covered porch outside and head into your own quirky lodge. Coed Obry is a 5.5 acre private woodland on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. It has its own private gated access from the road and a 50m track leads from the A 4085 to a small car park for 5 vehicles. Paths lead from there to the caravan, bunkhouse, camping areas. There is a compost toilet block and sink (cold water tap) in the centre of the wood shared by all visitors. Nearby there are several outstanding beaches within 1-3 miles and there is good access to the mountains of Snowdonia; the Afon Dwyryd provides an excellent sheltered river/estuary for canoeing and paddle boarding; the slate quarries and tourist attractions of Blaenau Ffestiniog, rock climbing at Tremadog (2 miles); spectacular waterfalls at Croesor (1 mile); the Ffestiniog Narrow Gauge Railway (0.5 miles); the Glaslyn Osprey Centre (1 mile); several shops, restaurants, hostelries and Spar shop in Penrhyndeudraeth (1 mile); three large supermarkets and a regional shopping centre in Porthmadog (2.5 miles).

You'll sense the history all around you at The Old Vicarage, from the old house to the remains of the water mill in the river bed. Stays here are in the grounds of a 17th-century house in the village of Elkesley, six miles from Worksop and 25 miles from Nottingham. Its grounds run down to the banks of the Poulter river, and are lined with stands of acacia, sycamore, ash and oak trees which were originally donated to the first vicar by the Duke of Newcastle in the 1830s.

You'll sense the history all around you at The Old Vicarage, from the old house to the remains of the water mill in the river bed. Stays here are in the grounds of a 17th-century house in the village of Elkesley, six miles from Worksop and 25 miles from Nottingham. Its grounds run down to the banks of the Poulter river, and are lined with stands of acacia, sycamore, ash and oak trees which were originally donated to the first vicar by the Duke of Newcastle in the 1830s.
There's plenty of space around the site for traditional outdoor activities, with a rope swing and stepping stones over the shallow river and a bridge that's perfect for playing Pooh Sticks. In the surrounding area there are animal parks and nature reserves to walk around, or to head back further in time, you could take one of the trails through ancient Sherwood Forest, around quarter of an hour's drive away.
Guest facilities on site centre around the Cave Bar, a cool little space built into an exposure of 500-million-year-old sandstone, plus an outdoor terrace for sipping drinks out in the sunshine.
Other amenities include a washing-up area and bathrooms with plentiful hot showers, toilets and baby changing facilities.

What a gorgeous place! The perfect place for a calm refuge to reset and re-enter life restored.
Lovely kind hosts, beautiful views and walks straight from the roundhouse enjoyed by us and our cat Blue. Absolutely magical.

The chicken hut was very cosy and also had all the mod cons. The view was lovely and the location was great base to explore north wales. We had a tour of the farm and it was clear how much the owners care about the animals.

We had an excellent stay at the round house. The location is incredibly serene with gorgeous views. The building is beautiful and has been furnished with great attention to detail. The bed is really cosy, the hot shower is great and the cooking area is well equipped. Meg and Benjamin were very attentive hosts and we would warmly recommend a stay here.

Good recommendation for a walk up Stoodley Pike, well marked route which you can access straight from the site.

We had a wonderful few nights. A great play to relax and loved the fact that it's so tucked away with so many walks straight out the door. A bonus was seeing the odd supersonic jet emerge at tree level at the end of the Mach Loop. Don't worry, these were a spectacle, not an irritation. Peace and serenity assured here and some wonderful beaches a short car ride away. Recommended!

3 nights at wildwood quarry retreat
We stayed in the Oak cabin. Both cabins are pretty identical. Absolutely fantastic stay with an amazing location and stunning views. Unfortunately we didn't have the best weather but that was ok because we had all the facilities we needed to cook, clean and relax.
Super easy access to nearby towns if wanting to venture off to find stuff to do.
The outdoor bath was a really nice touch as well. Felt so relived and stress free not having to think about the daily grind for a few nights.
Couldn't recommend Wildwood Quarry Retreat enough!!

Amazing lodges, our family had Kites Nest and Barn Owl Lodge and they were perfect for our group size, including a toddler and elderly woman! They were comfortable and gorgeous. Interiors and views were stunning, I couldn't believe the sunsets at night, the hot tubs were such a treat and both lodges had fantastic seating areas on the deck, we went on the steam railway and enjoyed a BBQ at the lodge. Would love to come back next year.

This place is extremely special. Very remote, beautiful and tranquil in natural and peaceful surroundings.
If you're an eco-friendly animal lover you will be at home here. I wish I could have stayed forever.
The round house is so pretty, very clean, very well thought out, has everything you need and is the perfect retreat. I will return 100%.
Compost toilet is clean and tidy, not smelly. The shower is warm with everything you need and even the toiletries are amazing.
Megan and Benjamin are super lovely humans. Always there to help if needed, very kind and considerate.
I would recommend a pair of Wellies as is a little walk from the parking area to the round house. Definitely worth it though 👌
Also it's a good drive 'up' so keep going you're not lost 😅

Weekend Trip to Dyfi Forest Retreats
We had such a gorgeous and relaxing stay at Dan's cabin. By choosing to visit at the end of January, we were a little nervous that we would be cold, but the fire kept us nice and toasty all weekend. Dan was friendly, relaxed and super helpful and he has provided everything you could need for your stay. The spot felt totally private, but equally knew that if we were stuck with anything we'd be able to get help quickly. Lovely to explore the beautiful surroundings and it's a decent but nice walk down to the local pub and back! We'll definitely be returning again.
