You'll sense the history all around you at The Old Vicarage, from the old house to the remains of the water mill in the river bed. Stays here are in the grounds of a 17th-century house in the village of Elkesley, six miles from Worksop and 25 miles from Nottingham. Oak Lodge is an exclusive Luxury Glamping Lodge set on a beautiful, sheltered Mid Wales hillside and close to amenities. Oak Lodge is mains connected for electricity, with a top of the range waterless toilet and eco friendly Bio Fuel Burner (Like a log burner but without the hassle). The hills and trees will be your morning view as you open the curtains looking out across the green expanse that surrounds this Mid Wales getaway. You are surrounded by green space, meadows left for wild flowers with paths cut through them and of course the many Oak Trees, some of which are over 400 years old.
As there is only one lodge, you will have privacy and this offers the perfect location for a romantic luxury break for a couple. Alternatively, kids will love exploring the areas and discover the very shallow stream to splash in (it dries up fully in Summer). There is so much space to enjoy. After a 3-4 minute, 300 metre walk from the car park (some up a hillside path), kick off your boots in the covered porch outside and head into your own quirky lodge.
In the lodge there is one separate bedroom with a King Size bed, a shower room with toilet, sink, a kitchenette (mini kitchen) with microwave oven, air fryer, fridge/freezer and the spacious, quirky main room with a large sofa (converts to a 115cm wide bed for kids) to unwind in. Cast Iron outdoor stove, in/outdoor tables and shower room.
A private wood-fired hot tub with bubbles, which is deep and specially designed for two - the perfect addition to a romantic stay. Relax in warm water under the stars or start the day listening to the birdsong.
Mid-Wales is a spectacular location and we are just 4 minutes drive away from the small town of Llanfair Caereinion (2nd smallest town in Wales). Usual convenience shops (Spa/Londis), petrol station, excellent butchers (Pandy's), hairdressers, 3 pubs, Chinese takeaway and Fish and Chip shop.

Lovely kind hosts, beautiful views and walks straight from the roundhouse enjoyed by us and our cat Blue. Absolutely magical.
Such a comfortable bed, cosy lights, cooking supplies, folk takes - all you would need. Can't thank you enough!

With kids
The chicken hut was very cosy and also had all the mod cons. The view was lovely and the location was great base to explore north wales. We had a tour of the farm and it was clear how much the owners care about the animals.

We had an excellent stay at the round house. The location is incredibly serene with gorgeous views. The building is beautiful and has been furnished with great attention to detail. The bed is really cosy, the hot shower is great and the cooking area is well equipped. Meg and Benjamin were very attentive hosts and we would warmly recommend a stay here.

Perfect stay at the Cosy Cabin, Kirsty's really thought of everything!
Very private and peaceful, a proper retreat with all the home comforts.
Good recommendation for a walk up Stoodley Pike, well marked route which you can access straight from the site.

5 nights at Magical Roundhouse or Train Wagon
We had a wonderful few nights. A great play to relax and loved the fact that it's so tucked away with so many walks straight out the door. A bonus was seeing the odd supersonic jet emerge at tree level at the end of the Mach Loop. Don't worry, these were a spectacle, not an irritation. Peace and serenity assured here and some wonderful beaches a short car ride away. Recommended!

A beautiful & enchanting place. Perfect to disconnect and reconnect with nature. The roundhouse itself is truly magical set in an almost mythical location. Will return and definitely recommend for those looking to tune out.

3 nights at wildwood quarry retreat
We stayed in the Oak cabin. Both cabins are pretty identical. Absolutely fantastic stay with an amazing location and stunning views. Unfortunately we didn't have the best weather but that was ok because we had all the facilities we needed to cook, clean and relax.
Super easy access to nearby towns if wanting to venture off to find stuff to do.
The outdoor bath was a really nice touch as well. Felt so relived and stress free not having to think about the daily grind for a few nights.
Couldn't recommend Wildwood Quarry Retreat enough!!

Me and my family had a wonderful time at the roundhouse it was so peaceful waking up with the birds in the morning and being surrounded by nature. We spend lot's of time outdoors by the fireplace.

The views from the site are fantastic. The accommodation was fabulous , had everything you needed. For us it was a restful weekend after a very busy week.
Ceri was fantastic and answered texts as soon as she got them.

This place is extremely special. Very remote, beautiful and tranquil in natural and peaceful surroundings.
If you're an eco-friendly animal lover you will be at home here. I wish I could have stayed forever.
The round house is so pretty, very clean, very well thought out, has everything you need and is the perfect retreat. I will return 100%.
Compost toilet is clean and tidy, not smelly. The shower is warm with everything you need and even the toiletries are amazing.
Megan and Benjamin are super lovely humans. Always there to help if needed, very kind and considerate.
I would recommend a pair of Wellies as is a little walk from the parking area to the round house. Definitely worth it though 👌
Also it's a good drive 'up' so keep going you're not lost 😅

With pets
We loved the log cabin. Took the dogs for a couple of days, the place is lovely. The weather wasn't the best, so after a couple of wet an rainy walks (which the dogs LOVED) we just hunkered down in there. Played games, drank wine, listened to music. Its perfect to hide away for a couple of nights.
