Nestled between the Western Lake District Fells and the Irish Sea coast this site is situated on a working dairy and sheep farm. Farm tours can be arranged on arrival. A play hut with outdoor games, drying room with communal fridge and freezer (some units have their own small fridge). Natural hedges surround the site. Four fruit trees near the shower block
Half a mile to Gosforth village with Shop, Bakery, Cafe, 4 Pubs providing food and an Italian restaurant. Gosforth and Seascale villages have play parks.
Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Wasdale, Scafell Pike and Sandy Beaches with Cafes selling local ice cream are nearby with most Lake District attractions within an hours drive and Edinburgh a three hour drive away.
There are 5 campervan/motorhome pitches, a pod, a modern take on a shepherds hut with underfloor heating, a heated pod and two gypsy caravans with electricity to book. All pitches are on gravel positioned to enjoy views over farmland to Scafell Pike and other fells, they are surrounded by grassy areas with seating and a picnic table. A wooden play hut has outdoor games and toys inside. Awnings can be added on the 3 larger pitches. Tents can be pitched next to units for an extra £10 per night. Barbeques are allowed on gravel with our Gypsy Caravans having a campfire area. There is a communal fridge and freezer, outdoor drying space. Farm tours can be arranged. Wildlife and farm animals can be seen in the surrounding fields. Fresh vegetables and barbeque packs can be ordered with 24 to 48 hours notice. Grocery deliveries accepted from supermarkets. There is also a holiday cottage on the farm sleeping 6 over two rooms.
Situated midway between the Western Lake District Fells and the Irish Sea Coast makes this site ideal for lower or higher level walks. Sandy beaches at Seascale and St Bees have cafes selling locally made ice cream alongside play areas to keep children happy. Scafell England's highest mountain is close by as are a number of Wainwrights.
Nearby is Muncaster Castle and Gardens with its Hawk and Owl Centre, also Ravenglass (a Roman port with remains of a bath house), you can ride up the Eskdale Valley on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway (Laal Ratty). Perhaps take a stroll to Stanley Ghyll waterfall. They have a cafe at both terminuses with a museum in Ravenglass where nearby you can sample Ravenglass Ice Cream. Wasdale and Ennerdale are close by both valleys having cafes and pubs.

With a private valley, formed in the last ice age, acres of land and woodland to explore, our farm has a very special feeling which has been mentioned by every visitor. Occupied by some beautiful wildlife, including buzzards and owls, deer, badgers and foxes.
The Wagons have a grass roof, firepits, sleep 4 (in double bunk format), they are hand-made from reclaimed materials salvaged from the local town and other areas, double skinned and insulated with sheeps wool. Being on the doorstep of Dalby Forest, there are hours of entertainment to be had. You can follow the stream at the bottom of the valley to the River Derwent or venture into the surounding woods. We can provide a guest pass (free access) for Dalby Forest.
The Wagons are not powered by electricity and are romantically lit by candles and oil lamps. Heated by cast iron gas heaters.

The space
The hut has sweeping countryside views and is perfect for a peaceful and relaxing break! Inside there is a king sized hybrid mattress bed, seating area with a fold up table for meal times or relaxing, a fully equipped kitchen with all utensils & crockery, integrated fridge with small freezer, heating with Nest controlled thermostat, induction hob, sink and draining tray. There is also a large en-suite with a rainfall shower.
Luxury toiletries are provided along with towels and themed bed linen. You will also have 1 extra towel per person for use with the hot tub.
Jars of tea, coffee and sugar are available in the kitchen along with a couple of milk sachets.
The garden is fully enclosed with a gravel and lawned area, table & seating, large firepit/BBQ and a parasol for those sunnier days! The fire pit is set up with racks, pans and all the equipment needed to cook with!
The large hot tub with lights and jets is just to the side of the seating area. The hot tub is fully undercover, making it safe to use in all weathers! There is also enough space for undercover seating. There is a manual provided in the hut which features local attractions and there is a private landscaped parking area located just at the back of the hut.
There is lots to do nearby and something for every and those a little further afield, local supermarkets, cafes, pubs and restaurants. The site is also located on the Leicestershire Round walking route with at least 5 off road walks commencing within 400 yards of the site.
Check in information, along with directions to the site are messaged 48 hours prior to arrival.

Other things to note
Tip- it can get quite dark at night, therefore it is advisable to bring a torch.

The space
We have two Shepherd Huts totally private from each other with separate access .The huts are supplied with Luxury linens, cotton towels and bathrobes. Fully equipped bijou kitchen, induction hob, ceramic sink, microwave, fridge with ice compartment. Generous bathroom with spacious electric shower & heated towel rail. Luxurious Hypnos bed and mattress with plenty of storage. The hut offers a cosy interior with walls finished in dark blue tongue and groove paneling, an oak floor and contrasting white ceiling. Sumptuous Linwood fabrics have been used throughout on the windows and furniture. Double glazed hardwood doors and windows combined with electric thermostatically controlled heating ensure consistent comfort throughout the changing seasons. Outdoors, relax in the wood fired hot tub or sit around the fire pit sipping wine or enjoying mugs of hot chocolate whilst enjoying the wonderful views of the Teesdale countryside. we are a stone throw away from the railway walk that can take you to the neighbouring villages of Romaldkirk, or Middleton- in-Teesdale, or hop in the car and take a short drive to the picturesque market town of Barnard Castle.
Guest access
Cars can be parked approx 100 metres from the hut, access is from the B6277 along a private grass lane, waterproof footwear is recommended for pedestrian access during wet weather.

Established in 2021 on repurposed farmland, our charming Shepherd’s Huts Roudabout and Bill Lunes offers glamping for two in style. Nestled into the Teesdale countryside, get back to nature in the luxury of a cosy Shepherd’s Hut. Whether you’re looking to unwind, explore, or both, Toadlands is a special place to do it. So, relax in the wood-fired hot tub, stargaze by the firepit, and discover what the local area has to offer.
The space
We have two Shepherd Huts totally private from each other with separate access .The huts are supplied with Luxury linens, cotton towels and bathrobes. Fully equipped bijou kitchen, induction hob, ceramic sink, microwave, fridge with ice compartment. Generous bathroom with spacious electric shower & heated towel rail. Luxurious Hypnos bed and mattress with plenty of storage. The hut offers a cosy interior with walls finished in dark blue tongue and groove paneling, an oak floor and contrasting white ceiling. Sumptuous Linwood fabrics have been used throughout on the windows and furniture. Double glazed hardwood doors and windows combined with electric thermostatically controlled heating ensure consistent comfort throughout the changing seasons. Outdoors, relax in the wood fired hot tub or sit around the fire pit sipping wine or enjoying mugs of hot chocolate whilst enjoying the wonderful views of the Teesdale countryside. we are a stone throw away from the railway walk that can take you to the neighbouring villages of Romaldkirk, or Middleton- in-Teesdale, or hop in the car and take a short drive to the picturesque market town of Barnard Castle.
Guest access
Cars can be parked approx 100 metres from the hut, access is from the B6277 along a private grass lane, waterproof footwear is recommended for pedestrian access during wet weather.

Staying in 'Oxo'. Amazing cozy little hut full of amazing personal touches and a lovely warm welcome from the owner and some lovely little luxurys on a welcome tray.
The site has a little dog run, a little shop for beers, wine and eggs, washing facilities and fire.pits.
Brilliant stay.

Our stay at Over the Moon was absolutely perfect. Ruth was super friendly and gave clear instructions on how to find them, and replied quickly to any questions. The location is beautiful and incredibly peaceful. The hut had everything we needed and the bed was huge and very comfortable. We can’t wait to come stay again!

Weekend Trip to Abberton Shepherds Hut
This was a fabulous shepherds hut with every need catered for. The craftsmanship is beautiful and all the equipment and amenities were first class. Beautifully decorated and all the local and interesting information was carefully provided in an easy to access folder. The location is absolutely stunning with lots of outdoor equipment such as seating and bbq and a pizza oven to enjoy in the hot weather. The view is stunning and the surrounding countryside has great walks and places of interest. We will hopefully return.

Have already recommended this place to friends. We had a lovely stay in the sunshine. The hut is has everything you need in a compact but unsquashy space. Enjoyed some fine walks and a super day out in Ruthin. We'd also recommend the Red Lion for a visit. Ruth & Jude were both very helpful and welcoming. I'm sure we'll come back.

I had a wonderful stay in this charming shepherd’s hut nestled in a peaceful meadow. The hut was beautifully equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable and cozy getaway. The surrounding area was lovely, with fruit to pick and plenty of space for the dogs, who absolutely loved it! The hosts were fabulous—friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommend this little gem for a relaxing countryside retreat.

This is an amazing wagon set in the most beautiful countryside with breathtaking views . We had our own composting toilet .
Bruce left us lots of treats for our arrival . We sat outside until late with the fire pit campfire until we could see the stars .
It was very warm night .

What a delightful little find. Absolutely lovely little hut in total isolation. Everything you need to get away from it all. Perfect evening sitting outside by the fire listening to the countryside. But equally great tucked up inside with the log burner on listening to the pouring rain.

Where to go
Peak District National Park
A mere 30-minute drive east of Manchester will take you to Peak District National Park, a 555-square-acre park that's popular for walkers, cyclists, and water sports enthusiasts. It's among the most popular national parks in the country and a fantastic spot for wildlife watching, with populations of hares, hedgehogs, and all sorts of birds. The park also has four show caves open to public visits and a museum dedicated to the Black Plague.
Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)
Due north of Manchester, the Forest of Bowland AONB feels much more remote. Here you'll find massive expanses of fells and peat moorland, short hills, and lots of outdoor recreation opportunities. Popular things to do in the area include walking, cycling, and wildlife-watching, and the lack of city lights makes it ideal for a night of stargazing.
Loggerheads Country Park
Just over the border with Wales, inside the Clwydian Range And Dee Valley AONB, Loggerheads Country Park offers a visitors centre, a historic mill, and a few miles worth of short trails that lead alongside the River Alyn, past wooded groves and limestone cliffs. Keep your eyes out for Bloody Cranesbill, a type of wildflower named as such because its leaves turn red in the autumn, much like a tree.
When to go
Manchester is very much a summer destination, and the likelihood of good weather is at its highest between June and August, with highs in the low 20s, though you should still be prepared for rain no matter when you visit. The summer months also offer plenty of things to do, and music fans from across the UK flock here in June for the celebrated Parklife Festival in Heaton Park.
