Weekend Trip to Pett Camping

We had a lovely weekend in Pett, this is a great campsite. The site is very basic, a couple of compost loos and a tap which was all we needed. We found it was a nice quiet site and appreciated being able to have a fire to cook on. The farm shop down the road is a very small one, eggs, milk, apple juice and usually lamb burgers but they had all been sold when we were there. The site is hilly but there is plenty of space and we found a good flat space to pitch our tent on comfortable grass. Great location for walking and close to the beach. Also lots of interesting places nearby to visit, Kent and East Sussex railway, Bodiam Castle, Hastings etc etc.

Weekend Trip to Pett Camping

We decided to get away for the last bank holiday of the year, and chose Pett Camping for two nights. Located on a sheep farm it's a wonderful site - lovely countryside, rolling hills, the most spacious we've ever experienced on a camp site. Whether you are tenting or have a motorhome/campervan, this is a great site. Yes it has the one composting loo (regularly cleaned) and one cold standpipe, but that seems ok. Everyone is really quite chilled. This site is perfect if you want to relax and recharge. If you don't self cater there is a great country pub in The Royal Oak (10mins stroll, huge portions, great value), or The Two Sawyers (20mins, a busier pub and placed more upmarket). Down the hill is Pett Level, a great long shingle beach with a local village vibe, and a short drive away are Hastings town and the more quaint and boutique Rye. During our stay we met the couple who run the farm and site who are really nice people and we'd love to come back next year :)

Very nice site. Camped here half way on a hike between Rye and Hastings. Plenty of space, nice and quiet. Royal Oak up the road was nice for a drink.

I can’t recommend this camping site enough. Nestled within 90 acres of serene, open land, it offers a truly secluded escape from the noise and chaos of everyday life. The setting is stunning – peaceful, untouched, and expansive – with total freedom to roam and unwind. Georgina and Max are exceptional hosts. They’ve thought of absolutely everything, and their attention to detail shows in every corner of the site. From the moment we arrived, everything was smooth and clearly explained. They’ve created that perfect sweet spot between traditional camping and glamping – you get the authentic outdoorsy experience without compromising on convenience or comfort. From essentials to thoughtful extras, everything you could possibly need has been provided. It’s clear they’ve poured a lot of love and effort into making this a truly special place. There were zero issues – no noise, no disturbances – just nature, calm, and comfort. I’ll absolutely be coming back, and I recommend this place wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a proper, well-balanced camping getaway.

Weekend Trip to Greenhill Glamping

We were so delighted by our stay at the Ploughman's. The interior is a testimony to true craftsmanship, with so many exquisite, authentic details. The view of the green hills, horses and sheep calmly munching away in the distance gave a feeling of timelessness. The log fire was warm and cosy and the bed is extremely comfy. Total peace and relaxation! Many thanks for such a deeply restful stay.

Where to go

North Sea Coast

Kent’s 10 Blue Flag beaches all lie along the north shore. The south-eastern resorts of Margate, Ramsgate, and Broadstairs draw beachgoers and surfers throughout the summer months, but if you can brave the cold, you’ll catch the biggest swells in winter. Further west, the pebble beaches and colorful beach huts paint a pretty picture at Herne Bay and Whitstable, while the Isle of Sheppey has a wide choice of beachside camping and caravan parks.

South Coast

South of Ramsgate, white chalk cliffs, rocky coves, and shingle beaches stretch along the shores of the English Channel. The headline act is the White Cliffs of Dover, home to one of England’s most rewarding coastal hikes. Further south, Folkestone is a favorite for summer campers and caravanners, while the Romney marshes are popular with walkers and bird-watchers.

East Kent

North of Dover, the rolling green hills of the Kent Downs—an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty—provide a lush backdrop for hiking, cycling, and horseback riding. Stay at a farmland campsite, visit the cathedral city of Canterbury, or play a game of golf with views across the countryside.

West Kent

With easy access from London, west Kent provides plenty of options for city campers or glampers looking for a rural escape.
