You'll sense the history all around you at The Old Vicarage, from the old house to the remains of the water mill in the river bed. Stays here are in the grounds of a 17th-century house in the village of Elkesley, six miles from Worksop and 25 miles from Nottingham. Its grounds run down to the banks of the Poulter river, and are lined with stands of acacia, sycamore, ash and oak trees which were originally donated to the first vicar by the Duke of Newcastle in the 1830s.
There's plenty of space around the site for traditional outdoor activities, with a rope swing and stepping stones over the shallow river and a bridge that's perfect for playing Pooh Sticks. In the surrounding area there are animal parks and nature reserves to walk around, or to head back further in time, you could take one of the trails through ancient Sherwood Forest, around quarter of an hour's drive away.
Guest facilities on site centre around the Cave Bar, a cool little space built into an exposure of 500-million-year-old sandstone, plus an outdoor terrace for sipping drinks out in the sunshine.

When you fancy a drink or a bite to eat and you want it quickly, the closest pub is just 15 minutes’ walk away (they run a carvery and stone-fired pizza for the foodies among you). The Little Stable is situated in a meadow, which is part of a 63 acre arable field adjacent to Laundimer Woods and Fermyn Woods. The land has been farmed by my father and grandfather for the last 60 years going back to a time of horse drawn ploughs and open top tractors. The stable was built 25 years ago for a horse called Whisper and over the years it was left to deteriorate. I have been gradually restoring the building since 2019 and decided it would be ideal as a luxury tiny home. I have put my heart and soul into build a unique, comfortable and private space for people seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
On the doorstep are some fantastic walks and rides through the woods. They were one of the original re-release sites for Red Kites in the UK and the breeding programme has been incredibly successful. It's a hidden gem, off the beaten track and a great place to reconnect with nature and the countryside. We can give you a map of the many trails through the woodland and other places of interest. We would advise bringing a pair of wellies or sturdy walking boots.
A short car journey away you will find Deene House & Park (3 miles), Kirby Hall (4 miles), Rockingham Castle (4 miles), Boughton House (5 miles), Lyveden New Bield (6 miles) and the pretty and historic market town of Oundle (7 miles), A little further afield there is the beautiful town of Stamford and magnificent Burghley House (19 miles).

Nice little rural site but not far from Evesham and Broadway - great amenities, eco friendly, honesty box shop etc. Had the log pod which was heated and cosy with little extra touches for valentines night. Firepit and bbq and outdoor bench and chairs provided . Overall a lovely stay.

Quiet and civilised site which reminded me why I love camping. It's not a big site but is well organised with many thoughtful touches. I appreciated the grill set in the log cabin and was impressed by the plant-based washing up liquid (no need to carry your own). The log cabin is compact but had everything we needed. The owners are friendly and manage to be discreet yet somehow on call simultaneously. My one suggestion would be to consider getting a (good) coffee machine for the shop. But, really ... it was excellent, thank you.

What can I say! This place surpassed all our expectations. It’s even more beautiful than the pictures. Kellie is a fantastic, attentive owner who is close by for anything you may need. We were staying for my husbands 40th and was greeted with a birthday banner and a lovely welcome pack with treats for us and our kids. There’s privacy for the hot tub and lots of outdoor space for the kids to play. The setting is beautiful with sheep and geese & even a Shetland pony roaming free around you. The highlight for the children was getting up and helping feed the goats and chickens in the morning. We had a sunset BBQ with our very own fire pit and seating. Very clean. Beds beyond comfy. 100% recommend. Thankyou again Kellie!

The log pod was excellent - great bed and the fridge was nice and cold. BBQ was provided and the little field was perfect for our 7 year old to run around in. We were perfectly placed for kayaking at Aztec Adventures and a trip to Warwick castle. We also walked the 10 mins to Norton Grange which had a lovely play area and beer garden and huge choice on their menu - 20% off for BVCC guests too was a lovely bonus. A really lovely hidden gem of a site - we’ll be back!

We loved camping at Cornflower! It's a great location, views are amazing and the hut charming and cozy providing a peaceful escape. The surrounding environment was beautiful allowing for a truly relaxing break and reconnect with nature. I highly recommend those huts for anyobe looking for a tranquil getaway!

Weekend Trip to Blooms Westerby Farm
We stayed one night at Waterbury Farm and it was pure bliss. The camping shed was cozy and clean, with the kettle in a separate shed—making the sleeping space feel roomy. The highlight was the hot tub, perfectly placed for stunning sunset views. Soaking under the stars in total peace was unforgettable. A calm, beautiful escape with thoughtful touches and lovely hosts. We have stayed in the Pheasant Lodge in this beautiful location and it was exactly what we need it. The Lodge was home to home, super clean and well equipped with everything we need it. Graham and Alison are great hosts, nothing too much trouble. The jacuzzi was amazing, perfect place to relax while watching the beautiful sunset over the canal. Yelvertoft was not too far and we loved the delicious homemade sausages from Alex's deli for our grill. We wish we could stayed a bit longer, truly enjoyed our stay.

To all the savvy readers out there, do yourselves a favor and reserve a spot at this gem of a place. Graham & Allison are the ultimate hosts, and I can't stress enough how delightful our stay was. We're definitely planning a return trip and can't wait to reunite with Allison. The hot tub was a dream, I even managed to reel in some decent-sized fish! The lodge was spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Top-notch comfort all around.

With pets
We loved the log cabin. Took the dogs for a couple of days, the place is lovely. The weather wasn't the best, so after a couple of wet an rainy walks (which the dogs LOVED) we just hunkered down in there. Played games, drank wine, listened to music. Its perfect to hide away for a couple of nights.
