What a little Derbyshire gem: back to basics Whitehouse Farm Campsite is a simple site in a most scenic setting five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Tideswell.
The site’s central location in the Peak District National Park means it’s a top spot for those who want to ramble or ride bikes – several circular trails leave from Tideswell and the traffic-free Monsal Trail is a five-minute drive away. And there’s plenty more activity if you require it too, as activity centres nearby can sort you out days of horse riding, abseiling, climbing and caving.
All this activity isn’t mandatory, of course – this is an equally fine location for days pottering off to local pubs, pigging out on pudding in Bakewell or taking a leisurely stroll around the Chatsworth Estate, 20 minutes away.
And if even that’s too much, you’d be welcome to spend some time loafing about on site: there’s heaps of space here, and as facilities have been kept quite minimal (just showers and toilets) there should be a good serving of peace and quiet to go with it all.
Guests are welcome to light up a barbecue or campfire for cookouts and keeping warm; Tideswell’s the place for supermarket supplies, and it’s also handily got a fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs for days when your firelighting skills aren't up to much.

Enjoy after dark stargazing too. A quiet location but only a few miles inland from Scarborough. Four miles to the village of Ayton which has a convenience store, garage, chemist, fish and chip shop and restaurant as well as two popular pubs. The quaint village of Scalby is only a few miles away, and Dolby Forest with a variety of outdoor activities is also nearby.
Well behaved dogs are welcome. There is a fire pit available for those evenings around the camp fire, and barbecues are permitted.

We loved this site, its overall size and simple spotless facilities, no fuss booking and check in, great location, gorgeous views, and a mud free level pitch despite the gails and rain we brought with us! Darren and Diana were fab, great communication, excellent care of the site and they even lent us a pair of grips when we found our gas tank valve has seized up and we couldn’t open it by hand. Hospitable hosts and a lovely site. Will definitely come back and highly recommend!

Perfect for an overnight stop on our campervan adventure from London to Scotland. Super relaxed feel to the site, lots of clean porta-loos in the family camping field making it really family friendly. Flushing toilets and showers are available, also very close by. Thank you!

We had a fantastic weekend, just what we like in a campsite, small super quiet and chilled, fantastic views and good facilities, Darren & Diana were good hosts and communicated very well. Great walking in the area, the price you pay for the great view is a good hike back up to the site but worth it..! We stopped at the tea room down in the village before taking on the hill home, can highly recommend all the fresh cakes and food from the tea room a little gem.

Lovely little family-feel site, only 5 pitches so you get to know your neighbours! Would a great site if you have a few of you - to have the full site to yourselves if allowed. The facilities are nice; toilet & shower, hot water with outdoor washing up area - all you need on a little site like this. Good location for Chrome Hill and Parkhouse hill and other walks around the area.
Very open/exposed site at the top of the hill, so be mindful of the weather forecast. It was 39/40 mph wind the whole time I was there so did have to leave a night early unfortunately as my tent would not have survived! But apart from the uncontrollable weather, it was a lovely stay. Worth the visit!

We've been going here for about four years... we always receive a friendly welcome from Charlotte. Would heartedly recommend if you life rustic, friendly campsites with fire pits under the stars 😀

Lovely little site with amazing views and quiet surroundings. Clean toilet & basic shower facility with water and cleaning items such as bin bags, kitchen sponges. We arrived at 6pm to an empty site and grabbed the corner plot before another couple arrived shortly after but was very comfortable all night. Owners checked in morning of departure but no issues to report. Will be back when the weather is drier to tackle pack house hill!

We had a great time at Chrome Hill Campers - it had a really relaxing vibe and the views were amazing. Just perfect to wake up to. It was a small site but it has everything you need. The toilet/shower block was spotless as was the separate washing up area. Would definitely come back!

What an excellent campsite!! Charltotte gave us great instructions of where to camp for a quiet time and it's such a large area we were spoiled for choice. We used one of the fire pits and Charlotte drove round in the evening asking campers if they needed more wood. The farm shop sold excellent food for the BBQ. We'll definitely be returning (the dogs loved it too).
