Barley Hill Pod offers luxurious glamping accommodation in Chard. Nestled in an idyllic countryside setting in Somerset, we are the ultimate romantic getaway. Relax under the stars in the hot tub on a warm summer evening listening to the trickle of the near by stream and the sound of the owls.
Our magnificent glamping pod is set in its own private field and surrounded by stunning oak trees and glorious barley fields. The site is a haven for a range of wild birds, from Woodpeckers to Kingfishers, making us the ideal holiday destination for nature lovers.
The well-equipped pod comes with a range of excellent facilities to suit all your needs. A kitchen area comes with a range of appliances including an oven, hobs, microwave, toaster and kettle. You can relax on the comfy corner sofa and there is a solid oak bar with stools. A comfortable double bed is the perfect place to rest your head at night. The en suite bathroom has a hot shower, basin, flushing toilet and a warm towel rail. Inside the pod there is electrical lights and a flat-screen TV.
Outside you can relax in the hot tub (available April - October) with a glass of wine whilst admiring the breathtaking views. A lovely terrace area also comes with seating. A BBQ is provided and a wooden fence encircles the pod to create a private and peaceful space. Opposite is an enclosed duck pond which is home to a range of ducks, as well as the occasional water-dwelling bird.

Sleeping arrangements are flexible for four people as there is an extra double bedroom in the garden room on the terrace or extra beds can be put in the yurt.
The walled garden sits away from but has access to The Brew Somerset with 25 acres of private land.
The Brew Somerset is a glamping and retreat site arranged around the spring-fed ponds. These ponds once served the Oakhill Brewery. Stout was first brewed in the village of Oakhill in 1767, using water which comes down from the Mendip Hills.
In the 18th century Oakhill Stout was thought to have ‘magical‘ healing properties. Now you can take a dip in these waters. The beady-eyed can spot kingfisher, heron, buzzard, kite, cormorant & much more in the way of wildlife.
Walled garden guests have access to this larger site in the afternoons, between 1pm and 5pm. The retreat site is not suitable for young children.
Coming soon: Don't miss the uniqueness of the pop-up off-grid spa with horse-trailer sauna, wood-fired hot tub and treatment tent. Enjoy a sauna or hot-tub whilst watching deer browse.....seriously! Booking essential.

This yurt exceeded all expectations. Thoughtfully laid out with a jacuzzi, separate kitchen in a shepherd’s hut, fire pit, covered outdoor dining area, and separate shower, everything you could need. The interior is stunning, with rich oriental colours that create such a warm, cosy atmosphere.
Waking up to the apple tree view each morning was lovely. Being in a Dark Sky Reserve meant the stargazing by the fire pit was spectacular, so peaceful and remote. Chris was a wonderful host, friendly and attentive throughout. Highly recommended!

Our best glamping experience so far! The surroundings are beautiful and so peaceful, perfect for an escape from the city life 😌 the yurt and the hut feel impossibly cozy, all the amenities are of high standard and very well-equipped. And on top of that, we arrived to a gift of eggs from the resident chickens, apple juice from the orchard and milk from local cows - what a fabulous warm welcome! Chris was also very responsive and helpful. We had an amazing time and wish we could go back soon!

We had such an incredible time at Westland farm. The Shepard’s hut was perfect for a stay with two small children. It felt very private, and the gated garden area was perfect for our dog and children.
The views and sunsets were totally stunning, especially with the reservoir in the distance.

I came to Kingfisher (second time) with my daughter and new puppy during a spell of hot weather at the end of May. It was truly blissful - sitting in the shade of the big oak tree, listening to the vibrant bird sounds, swimming in the pond, reading, walking the puppy in the woods at the top. I completely unravelled and de-stressed. Jan has really done something special with this land. It is humming with life. The birdsong took my breath away. And I could let the puppy run free in our little glade. It was only a few weeks ago, and I miss it. Thank you Jan.

This shepherds hut was amazing! The poshest hut I have ever stayed in - really comfortable. Waking up to a cool breeze and the sounds of nature and a beautiful view was perfect. We loved our six-night stay in Buzzard Yurt with our 8 year old and all agreed it was our favourite glamping experience to date. The site is teeming with wildlife and the view from the yurt was beautiful. Facilities were very good - Jan seems to have thought of everything you could possibly need while not overdoing it, and it all felt very homely. The trampoline was much appreciated. Overall, it was an excellent combination of nature & fresh air alongside being sufficiently comfortable (bringing a child and various back ache problems, etc.) to enjoy it. The woodland nature reserve next door was also stunning in April. Thoroughly recommended.

We had such a chilled weekend at the Stanley shepherds hut. Such a neatly and cleverly designed hut, we were very cosy.
We had fun making pizzas and toasting marshmallows.
Hot tub did take a long time to warm up the first night but the weather was against us- the second night was the opposite.
Great facilities and very easy to find off the road.
A warm welcome by our host who made sure we knew where everything was and had pre lit the hot tub fire for us!
Lovely touches like hot chocolate and marshmallows, fairy lights and drinks holder on the hot tub!

My wife and I had an amazing time. The hut is situated in a lovely farm, next to a lovely little stream so you wake up with the peaceful sound of wildlife and the trickling of the stream. The hot tub is a nice touch. A little fire in the hut keeps the place cosy and warm. Will definitely be returning.

brilliant place to stay, very relaxed there but if you need anything they was there. me and my partner stayed here with our 2 daughters and our dog and it was 100% one of the best places we have been to, great veiws, great facilities. all in all will 100% be staying again and maybe try the other cabins.
